I definitely appreciated his take on how being a DJ gives you an advantage as a hip hop producer. You have to have an ear and a knack for music to know what’s gonna take the energy higher and what’s gonna pull it down. “U Don’t Know” was always one of my favorite songs to hear in the club from ‘The Blueprint’ because of that element, and Just really was keen for recognizing that during his evolution as an “architect”.
I had this bootleg CD with a leaked version of You Don’t Know, i was probably the first or at least one of the first ppl in the Bronx driving around blasting it and i was getting stopped left and right with people asking me “WTF IS THAT???” Ppl were looking at my bullshit car like it was a lambo. It was THAT kinda shock 😂
Technology is making it easier to do everything... Make beats, movies, take great photos, edit them, write, sing, design, whatever.... you really have to dig for creativity and passion
wowwwww, the second I saw this title I thought about "you don't know" and how Blaze made that and Ye made "takeover" and after he explained how they basically created it at the same time blows my MIND!!!! PERSONALLY, I think "Takeover" OBVIOUSLY had the bigger impact in hip-hop history, I mean indirectly it resurrected Nas's career, cuz Nas needed someone to give him a challenge to spark that fire. But "You Don't know" is one of Jay's hardest songs period, that song he shit on the entire game when it came to playing the game and makin money. It's not all about that, but a lot of rappers wanna take it there and stunt and Jay really made some rappers feel stupid with that one....but songs like "Last real nigga alive" by Nas are what's really a true hip-hp song that has some of the craziest lines in hip-hop history, especially in NYC....Nas is King, I'm sorry, but the era of Just Blaze and Kanye making beats for Jay was a great time in hip-hop, early 2000's hip-hop was still very real, just a tad bit corny but still amazing. I feel like after 2006 rap really went down hill in regards to bars not mattering what so ever like at all...cuz I was in college and I was amazed by some of these rappers like Roscoe Dash and Soulja Boy blowing up, it hurt my heart man.....then I heard J Cole, Big K.R.I.T, and Kendrick and I felt a lot better about hip-hop...and then even in 2010 early Wiz for me made that type of style cool to me with Burn After Rolling and Kush and OJ....and then the Kid Cudi and Wale Explosion was beautiful. Kanye was really exploring his range of talent, artists like Curren$y were reemerging, Schoolboy Q and Black Hippy gave me a lot of hope, and of course Cole got better and better, whose my #1 and always will be. He's the best alive to me right now. Drake was keeping it cool but a bit of a sell out in my eyes, and then Chance came out with Acid Rain, and before that but Childish Gambino was really keeping hip-hop in a good place.....but with all that said, I still feel like hip-hop OVERALL cuz there's still those great artists making great great funky beautiful music (Childish, Cole, Kendrick, Schoolboy, Chance, etc...) but then you have 21 Savage, Yachty, Kodak Black, I mean their really trying to drag the best part of hip-hop through the mud, and it's sad to see because IN 2013, 2014, I really thought it was trending up to bars again, NO...NO NO
I was gonna say that, but I wanted to scroll through to see if anyone had already said it, but yeah, that's Five to One. Kanye did add to it, though And it's not really a sample - it's the whole beat minus the breaks
I can't remember what beat that is playing in the back. Anyone know? I've heard an old Cassidy freestyle to this beat but I'm sure it's a song with Beanie Sigel on it.
@@frankwhite7109 : I just watched Bink on Math Hoffa and he was saying Just bit his style and is a copy cat. And in regards to sounding like a b tech Swizz, on Beans album The Truth.. Just Blaze produced a track call “ Who the f**k want what “ but it definitely sounds like a Swizz beat.

I have to respectfully disagree. Jay-Z's biggest song ever was Hard Knock Life and his most commercially successful album was also Hard Knock Life. Kanye was not involved in either of those.
Kanye really didn’t do anything to the original Doors - “ Five to One”. It was kinda Lazy production really. Almost like Jay was spitting over the instrumental of the original.
