These measurements are always like car wrecks, there is 10 different stories about it,lol, a lot of car manuals say that it should almost touch, some articles say 20 thousandth of an inch, some say 10 thousands, lol

ten thousands of an inch= .010" will work nicely.

If the rod was not adjusted out far enough would that cause a condition where you break pedal is not returning to the proper position? I am seeing my brake lights stay on. If i reach down and pull on the pedal the lights will go off.

That means the rod inside the car on the neck of the brake pedal, specifically the metal part with the tongs, the resting point has to come out more.

Sheesh. The pedal return spring returns the pedal to the top position when you release the pedal. The position of the pushrod does not affect pedal height. However, as the clearance of the pushrod increases, the pedal travel increases to engage the brake, creating a softer feel to the brakes. Iffen the master cylinder is preloaded/engaged by a pushrod that is too long, then the brakes can drag and the pedal will feel hard.

Does that change the pedal rod length?

Amazon $15. Don't get a plastic one. Get an aluminum one.

@@novakenssSome of these come with magnets now on the tips, only way to go, at least on the booster side, most master cylinders are aluminum but boosters are usually metal, magnets are awesome, sticks right on so you wont have to be moving and guessing.

@@dntlss Yes, magnets are attracted to steel. Other metals, not so much.

@@novakenss Get you one with magnets on the legs that cling to the master cylinder and booster. Very high speed.
