Well, screw it, i'll post here so that it got noticed Day 15 asking you to play as Dutch East Indies in East Indies Reworked mod. Do whatever you want, but don't make it boring.
Imagine being a random rural Indian farmer, joining the brand-new indian marine force to fight in this "world war 2" that barely even affects you, and then in the span of like 2 years invading Rome, Marseille, Paris, Madrid, Berlin, St Petersburg, and Moscow. Then you go home only to find all the farming has been mechanized and also it's Bangladesh now.
As an Indian, I thank you for being such a stickler to history and showing our extremely diverse history in this video via the only 100% historically accurate game, HOI4 ™
This. India is that one nation that I've never played, and in its current form, I have truly no intention of ever playing it in any way. Would really love for them, and all the DLC countries up to Waking the Tiger to get some proper paths forward.
China is still pretty good focus tree-wise, though Japan is kind of outdated and the warlords prior to switching to either main or comi focus tree, could use some actual flavour -- Sinkiang, looking at you there
@@bundayeti Agreed. Japan is pretty fun, but that's less to do with their focus tree and more their general position and role in the world, and the ability to steal ridiculous amounts of Chinese manpower pretty early. Could really benefit from a good rework both for the historical and plausible alternates. As well as a few of the wacky alternate paths. Hoping for a good Japanese anarchist path, maybe to do with Japanese Anarcho-Communists you see in the Ethiopian focus tree. Agreed on China though, and the warlords needing a lot more flavor. I actually really like Manchukuo's focus tree, even if it's very painful to actually succeed. Personally hoping that a new rework of Waking the Tiger also includes Mongolia and Mengjiang.
Are they ever gonna fix what used to be the infrastructure focuses but are now railroads. 70 days to make something that take like 15 days to simply construct.
3:20 thats definitely the weirdest part about how HOI4 gets developed, they had to adjust the focus tree anyway.. but literally paid no attention? One of the italian focuses also does absolutely nothing if you dont have la resistance. Its ridiculous
When TfV came out I was disappointed there was no path that let you keep the British dude in charge and make India into his personal little kingdom. If they ever remake that tree I wish that will be added as an alt-hist option
The Indian Focus tree has no war goals, is really crap as almost everything is locked behind being at war or being independent. India has very limited building slots too which makes it very limited to inf based armies and the focus tree gives crap in the name of resources and factories. Pardox needs to rework India like yesterday.

This channel got me into Hoi4 but I got a certain concern: Why do I lose every battle?! YES I WATCHED VIDEOS. YES I EDITED MY TEMPLATES. YES I CHECKED THE TERRAIN. YES I GOT ENOUGH SUPPLY. I only played as Germany so far to get the hang of it, tried organizing my navy and air support as well as building quality troops. I gotta know if I am doing something wrong or why can I not beat Poland in 1940 after preparing for four years? The allies just sit on their borders and won't let me push in. I can't even push through the Netherlands with an Army of 24 tank divisions. But as soon as I just take one division off the border they overtake me within a few days. Hope maybe someone can help me cause I really feel the game, just battles aren't fun to me ...
Firstly, don't try to play a major like Germany immediately. Maybe try playing as Hungary, Romania, or Turkey (use the generic focus tree, not the hot mess that was added in Battle for the Bosporus). Change ideology quickly, join the Axis, and manually justify on some of your weaker neighbours before WW2 starts, then just help out against the Soviets during the war. Secondly, maybe you just don't have enough troops, even if their templates are good and you have air superiority? Generally (it depends on the country) you should build civilian factories until early-mid 1938, then switch over to military factories. Don't just build military factories immediately! Thirdly, you said you had 24 tank divisions... Just to check, you are also building infantry divisions... right?
Ah yes who can forget the great moment of WWII, when India invaded Sicily then Italy, taking Rome. Or their historic landings in Southern France then D-Day in Normandy, and the landings in Spain. And oh I remember the films of their Indian raising the flag in Berlin and later Moscow. Brings a tear to my eye.
paradox should make a dlc for secret weapons adding helicopters from hoi3 (designer if bBA is enabled) adding hydrogen bombs as a 1952 tech maybe satellites as a 1952/3 tech lend leasing nukes and launching nukes through rocket launchpads

I played them yesterday and got so bored i cheated and blasted by way to freedom asap, since i actually wanted to play a ww2 simulator, and not just "clicking on regions" simulator, followed by "balance these 2 things so you can keep some extra land" simulator, at which point by the time your done, most of the war is over
The event were Pakistan rebels can also happen if you become free by the British capitulating, and can be avoided through the puppeting method you described. Found that out in a multiplayer game
This video along with many others is the reason I keep coming back even as a student of history, I get my yuck laughs in while I can. India super marines lead the charge and force a D-Day *_FOUR TIMES_*
You can keep pakistan as a puppet and later annex them back even if you go the hostorical route (Indian National Movement or whatever), though you don't get them as cores. As soon as you become a Dominion, you can release them as a puppet and even after you gain your independence, they'll still be your puppet. Unless they patched it, you should still be able to do it. I just keep them as an integrated puppet since you get to be independent so late in the game. Let me know if it still works!
They could have made the foci better. Historically India provided up to 2 mil soldiers. They should make it possible to reduce Agrarian Soc in other ways and also securing lend lease for guns from the brits. Or alternatively building up Burma in preparation for a Japanese invasion (this alternative could increase risk of the Famine event). The Atl history foci are laughable, however. Taking out nearby Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan, makes at least some sense (regional expansion-wise), as well as preventing Pakistan from splitting if you go comi (Spanish civil war type powerstruggle system maybe). Securing oil in the Middle East for the Axis or slogging through China at the cost of debuffs to help out Japan would be good mutually exclusive brown party choices. Joining up with the Soviets and fighting the axis on their end, while more vanilla, is still quite good of an alternative. Maybe the Soviets could try beefing up India's tech, a T-34 heavy India could be fun. There is always an option to try a navy heavy India, reverse colonising the British and French (arguably the most out-there idea, but not impossible if they go destroyer and sub-heavy, similar to the Germans). I'm not a fan of a monarchist India tree, but I'm sure they'd do something like that eventually. I'm more partial to a non-aligned isolationist path, where they rapidly industrialise at the cost of penalties. You can build tall and lend lease like crazy. That's just my take though, if you like any of these ideas Paradox, feel free to steal my ideas XD

I'm inclined to agree, the focus tree's I prefer in this game are the smallest ones. I also wish the devs would include an option in the game settings to disable the plane/ship/tank designers and just use the old research trees.

Going free with the button means they will still be there but they will be your puppet which means you can re-annex them later.
The funny thing is canada is still bugged. If you do patriation and stay democratic and form a faction with the USA, its impossible to do the demand newfoundland focus from britain because you get like a -115 relations debuff with britain and need like +52 relations to do the focus.
