I was working new at a company and really needed the job. The person training me was very critical/negative plus I was dealing with some personal stress. It got so bad that I would cry before going in and it was making me ill. She was known to be difficult to work with but knew her technical material enough that they kept her.
Instead of going directly to our boss, I talked with her. There were two technical paths (both of which eventually needed to be mastered). Pretty sure it was her suggestion that I shift to the other one under another trainer first and that we should go to our boss together and recommend to move. It worked. I learned the other track then moved back in under her training in a less stressful frame of mind.

I worked in a corporate environment all my life, and there was favoritism and incompetent management who made employees feel unappreciated, the lies, etc. and was hard to grow in this environment. I never tapped into my potential, and I'm happy to take an early retirement at 65. I followed my passion and felt so satisfied. It was well worth leaving the corporate world 🌎

I’ve been quietly watching and enjoying your videos for years. Thank you for your genuine well intended efforts, your lovely means of expressing the simple truths, and that unyielding passion that reminds so many of us we need to be completely honest with ourselves. I just stepped away from a career in which everyday seemed like an eternal commitment to compromise. No more snuffing my spirit to pay my bills. And so into the wind I went…
“I am a leaf on the wind. Watch how I soar.” (RIP Wash)
It feels great being free. Bills are tight but tomorrow I have an interview and it truly feels like a new season is on the horizon. Have a beautiful day everyone!

Omg, Wenzes! This one really spoke to me. I just left a banking job of 9 years, where my boss was an ISTJ woman 😂 I don’t want to sound mean but talking to her was like talking to a very advanced well-developed chatbot 🤖 Like she would always say and do “the right thing” but it would feel like the human component was missing somehow. No true empathy, just a very well programmed cognitive empathy. Overall I learned a lot from her - being diligent, hyper responsible, ability to multitask, but man… that bot-like energy really got to me at a certain point. I carried a lot of emotional labor in the department, which is an extremely overlooked quality that literally can be a make it or break it component when it comes to team building. But that emotional labor wasn’t recognized or appreciated at all. Also, as independent as ISTJs may look like on the outside, they are actually pretty insecure inside. They want to fit in so badly, it’s not even funny. Like my boss ISTJ married some loser Peter Pen guy just so that she fits in with the “cool girls” in the company. Nothing can be more pathetic than that for an authentic INFJ who couldn’t care less about societal expectations. I felt like my nonchalant free spirited energy was always misperceived by her and other people in the company. It definitely ruffled some feathers. I would act respectful but would never try to kiss anyone’s you know what, would do an excellent job but withdraw from bragging or competition, would see through everyone’s insecurities, but would never use it against them…. Corporate world is just like a high school on steroids. It’s great for sensors, they enjoy the game, enjoy the mundane predictable day to day grind, but for us INFJs it feels like being forced into a kids playground where you have to pretend like you are on the same level as toddlers who are very proud of being able to build a tower out of 3 cubes 😂
It felt a little weird for like a week after I quit my job, but then I started feeling like my creative energy was coming back to me and I’m super excited about my future now. Being in a corporate world felt like a spell, you can’t be who you really are and it sucks so much energy out of you. Better spend that energy on independent pursuits!

I worked retail. The good was getting promoted very quickly and easily, because I targeted small stores (maternity, plus, cosmetics, etc.). The bad of that is you are Responsible and have no dependable employees and if you have to rely on the income (single parent), you don't have time or Confidence to shop yourself to a better position. But if you do? I have full faith that you can rise if no one is Actively dragging you down. I had a child and crazy parents and a crap boyfriend. I had everything working against me Plus the job drama. And theft? #1 rule of shrink is sales kill shrink. You can't punish theives anyway so don't even concern yourself with that. Let them steal while you ring & sell. Sell it before they can steal it. That actually works. LP is for the sensors. Get yourself to store manager asap. Then train your replacement as you plan to move up or out.

I'm in a soul destroying job. As a single parebt and sole provider it is fear that's holding me back from changing my job. I also have ADHD so I get bored easily. 😮‍💨
Job security is not exactly a thing these days. My worry is that I find a better job and that comany has to let people go and the people who have been there the shortest amount of time will be the ones they let go of and then I'll end up without a job and kids to take care of. I have to think about the people I'm responsible for first before I think about my fulfillment.

Thanks for writing this. I just began reading it after your comment.
Prior to today my favorite 'meaning of life' saying was "Life isn't the type of thing that stands for something else" - we can't define life using words that exist within it. Life is the experience of those things, which is where universes (or perhaps prisons) of thought are born.
That being said, The Myth of Sisyphus is so beautifully written I could at once drown and soar while immersed.
I will come back and comment once I reach the end.
I realize you asked for Wenzes advice in particular, so I hope you are ok with me chiming in. ❤

Having read just the summary...condemned to push a rock up a hill forever..I would say YOU are in charge and control, stop doing what someone else wants you to do (if you don't want to) and YOU decide to do something that IS valuable and worthwhile. Be causative, not effect. Be self-determined, not other-determined.

I’m an INFJ who works in a high stress medical job. Going into work I feel blessed that I have a job where I can care for people and make a difference. Leaving the job at the end of the day I feel drained and depressed at all of the horrible things in the world. You are living people’s worst days and experiencing their trauma every day you go into work. It can take me a couple of days to recover from a shift. Some days I think I am not strong enough to take it. Working in psychology is also trauma work and can be incredibly overwhelming. Working in healthcare is a blessing and a curse. It gives me purpose and has made me so grateful for all of the simple blessings I have. But it is also very draining and depressing and if you aren’t careful it can overwhelm you. Maybe shadow a therapist at a mental health clinic if they do that sort of thing to see what you think about it. Also a lot of jobs in the mental health field where you actually make decent money require a master’s degree so make sure you are ok with that or taking jobs at a lower salary if you only have your bachelors.
