Appreciate the comparison. I actually much prefer the subtle colours from the T3 lite and the fact that it will turn the lights off when screen is black is a big plus for me.
i just installed the T3 lite 75-85 inch tvs. I’m really liking it, the leds turn off basically when the screen is dark or black. that reason has me liking the T3, also the slim design. I also got it on sale at $89.99. since I didn’t pay so much, I may still upgrade to the T3 flagship model if it has even better features.
@@kevo212 I got it too for my 85". Im quite happy with it, although I found the calibration a bit of a pain in the ass. I haven't found that black bar elimination feature though that's supposed to turn top and bottom off when watching movies?

I’m not sure I wanna be distracted this much from what I’m trying to watch on TV with these silly flickering lights I know there are people who enjoy it but backlighting you know that stay stable and is kind of subtle. I think the longer I would be much happier with.

Thank you very much for such a great video. My biggest issue with all the other reviews is that they have there cameras set to auto, where even with a side by side comparison you can't really tell so much of the difference because it changes exposure with the light. So thank you for having your camera set to give an honest depiction of the colors.

I don’t think you can make a proper comparison without having the cameras set up in the same orientation. I have the T3 set up as you have the T2 in your video and it does make a difference. Also, the settings for these allow for a wide variation in results and given that there are fewer LEDs on the T3 the settings between the T2 and T3 will be considerably different to get the same optimum effect. Also, I believe the response time on the T3 is faster than the T2 which, for me, greatly improves the experience. Having the significantly larger number of LEDs is perhaps the biggest difference between the two. But as you are probably going to have to turn the brightness way down anyway, as this is supposed to be an ambient backlight, the main visual difference is how even the light spread onto the wall is going to be and that is also a function of the distance and reflectivity of same. In my experience, getting the settings right is probably the key thing with either of these backlights.
Hey thanks. I have both of these and my T2 if the screen is black say at 12:25 the left upper there are no lights on. Even at 13:31 I have no lights off the my left side or left top. I know to much Saturation can sometimes effect this so I keep my around 30someting
From what I've tried it isn't possible. Im thinking it may work better if you have an OLED panel where the screen is completely black. I don't have one as yet so unable to try. just bought the 3 Lite a week ago just before this video dropped .... i knew T2 is superior but for 62Euros + free shipping .... i guess 3 Lite is a win also for a 1st product.
my TV sits in a little cove area. If that makes sense. The wall behind the TV is about 12 to 16 inches away. Should I choose the T2 over the 3 light? Because of this.
Before watching your video, I was leaning to get the t2, after seeing it, I actually liked the 3lite on most situations, specially when you have blacks and it completely turns of the leds while on the t2 there's like a constant ambient warm white...

Thanks for checking out the video. You would need to swap out the LEDs as well. This is due to the newer chipsets on the striplight itself. I have the 3 lite. A friend of mine has the T2. Overall, the T2 is better. I went from my 3 lite, over to his house and put his t2 on. I could tell instantly.
For adjusting the angle that the camera is pointing towards the screen, is there any way to actually see (or know) what the camera is seeing (possibly through the App) or is this pure guesswork? This might be especially important if mounting the camera below the screen and behind or on top of a soundbar. Thanks
My concern is that my TV is hung on the wall and not sure if T2 could hang on the bottom of the TV as that seems to be the best position to capture the screen better. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!
Yeah you may have to put it on the top as you need a stable base to put it at the bottom. Other option is to purchase the Govee sync box instead where you don't need to use the camera. Only downside is that you can only use the signals going into the tv so any application you have built into the tv is not able to take advantage of the Govee lights. Hope this helps. It seems like the T3 light is actually more color accurate esp w/ the blacks than the T2, but it just doesnt have the light output and camera angle viewing isnt as broad, really hoping they make a flat mount T3 full version

Hi I have a smart tv with built in apps. I dont have any of those deivces like xbox, chromecast, or firestick. Would any of t2 or t3 lite work on my smart tv? I found that many products work only with an hdmi input devices like I mentioned.

Awesome review man, appreciate it! @24:52 "color banding" is a good term here. Usually used when describing color bit depth in cameras and displays. The T3 lite is like 8 bit 420 and the T2 pro is like 10 bit 422. Just thought that was a good analogy here and could be a good way to describe in future reviews!

The only thing that sold me on the 3 lite from this is that I like watching movies in the dark and I think the T2 showing bright light when the screen is dark would bug me. Vs the 3 lite it’s more just enhancing the experience without being overpowering. Also I like how the 3 lite shows a smoother gradient where I feel the T2 is a bit more dramatic. Almost like orbs of light vs the 3 lite’s aura-esque glow lol. But some might like the T2 better and that’s fine

The t2 dims to almost nothing with an oled tv. LED TV’s transmit light at all times so I would imaging it would make the backlight more noticeable. It does still have some light, just not nearly as noticeable as what I see on your video. Also helps to adjust the saturation down.

Excellent video!! I have an 83 inch LG G3 mounted almost flush with the wall. Do you feel that either of these won’t work well since it’s so close to the wall?
As far as color/ light tracking makes sense. T2 with side cameras see colors on sides better. T3 looking down the middle track things in the center better. I've noticed this middle/side tracking with my T1 for the year I've had it. I've been wanting something that keeps dark areas off while still tracking lit areas of screen. T3 might be what I'm looking for. Thanks for the vid.
I just got this for my TV as well, but it's a Govee H6198. Neither are what is here. However, I do want to upgrade next year to a better model, but I will hope for something like the T3. I love when it is black on screen it turns off, and when the lights go to the edge it really is bright. The only two improvements that I hope they do is that it has a bit more LEDs for a more accurate color. And when the colors don't shoot to the edge it still has a bright light to it.
T3 looks better in the visual comparison to me. Yes, color accuracy on the T3 not as good, but I think good enough and maybe we can still tweak it a bit, BUT I hate how the T2 is illuminating even on black parts. That is a lot more annoying. Example 14:42, why would it illuminate on the left side, it should be black

Have the 3Lite and my LEDs are bright like the T2. Did you adjust the brightness at all in the settings? You also mention flicker on the 3 lite but you have to choose between movie / game. Game will have more flicker.
After watching your comparison, it looks like the 3 liters is actually much better at adapting the light to what’s pictured on the screen. It even moved backlight in the same direction as the colors in the screen.
Hello i have a 98 inch TV and just bought a Govee T2 envisual for 75-85 inch tv, Govee T2 envisual 98- 100 inch is not yet available in europe. Can i perhaps sync a 6 meter Govee M1 RGBIC led strip with the T2, remove the led strip that came along with the T2, cause i cannot install it on the edges and install M1 instead? after syncing? will you think this will work?
No that definitely won't work. Each LED is controlled by the controller. It knows the amount of LEDs there should be and the location of each one. I prefer the 3 lite way of handling the dark sections of videos but I doubt it does it intentionally. The T2 is way smoother in handling the colours. I still have the T1 and although I cut it off at the bottom by mistake, it still works great. I might hold on an upgrade for the T3.
Need to turn the relative brightness down. That's how I got my t2 to dim the areas with no color. Also adjust white balance on a completely white screen. Try to get the lights as close to white as possible.

I have the T2. Where do you have the relative brightness set in your app? I find if I have it turned down lower, maybe around 30, my blacks stay darker and I don't get that bleed that you were showing in your example. Yes, I liked and subscribed to your channel. Thanks

Positioning the camera UNDER the TV makes more sense than having a distraction above the screen. HOWEVER, wouldn't the cameras be reversed, meaning the system is displaying left-side colours behind the right-side of the screen? I'm hoping for a workaround on how I might resolve this possible issue, please.

@@fluxautomate i was on the fence between T2 and T3 Lite, ended up with the latter a few hours ago because I couldn’t forgive the white light bleed on dark scenes from the T2. I hope I don’t regret my purchase on arrival… I really didn’t have the patience for the true T3 🫠

Due to the tilting mechanism the T3 can't be placed at the bottom of the screen unless you are able to tilt it in some other way. @Adam76 Спасибо 👋 уже поставил Т3 очень нравится, я честно читая многие отзывы думал будет на порядок хуже, но она реально попадает в цвета, у меня телик от окна стоит, лишний свет на него не попадает, ещё и экран OLED тобишь на чёрном вообще нет свечения лента при чёрном гаснет , идеально работает, даже если какие-то пролеты и есть по цветам то они не заметны для меня 👍
This video has managed to convince me that... the Philips version is probably just the way to go - as long as you use HDMI sources for your content. There's always some part of the screen which either doesn't quite pick up on, colours are a bit off, mixed with the latency - which is pretty much unavoidable. This entire system feels like.. a budget system as compared to the insanely priced Philips sync option. So, live with the drawbacks, or accept that a proper system is just 3-4 times the price. @@KrypteiaXi Suppose it's a question of "Accepting not having the best / accepting mediocrity", vs. not having, vs. paying Philips their extortionate prices. If you badly want this effect, and you're on a slight budget, then the Govee is definitely the way to go. Personally - So far I've accepted the idea of not having either. :) I got some DIY LEDs (SK6812, like WS2812b, but with white) behind the TV, connected to a WeMos D1, and the WLED project - It doesn't follow the TV, but gives me some bias lighting, with effects.
@@Nightykk since it is my first attempt at a tv backlight, I went with the T3 Lite since it is more affordable and doesn’t bleed white light on dark scenes. I hope I won’t regret this purchase 🤷♂️
I still got the original Flow Pro, model h6054 still work like a charm. I added them to met 50" tv and looks great. Shitty thing this was before dreamview. So I need an upgraded sync box to make it the sync center. Now there doing difficult to send one out

I don't need the light bars, I already have them but I'd like T3 with 60 LED. the corners always suffers :\ Do you know if my older light bar model H6054 would work with the T3 Lite (?) it has its own control box though... I don't see why it wouldn't if I can hook it up to Dreamview (it is right now with my wall glides). Did you notice the T3 Lite being faster? they say it's 20-30% faster
Glad this has been helpful. I also have the light bars for the 1st T1/Emersion kit but won't work with the DreamView setup 👎🏾. I didn't notices any difference in speed if there was it wasn't noticeable to the human eye. All my other Govee kit works so not sure why not the light bars. From a designer's perspective, Lite 3 is preferable. T2 is oversaturated (I understand why might work for some), making Lite 3 get closer to screen colours without overdoing it. Especially when you have additional lighting on both sides (like me), making T2 an overkill :).
it seems like the 3 lite is more accurate especially with the blacks having no light however the brightness is a big issue, and the fact you can't put it on the bottom of the screen
The wall behind my tv is black. Is this a crime when it comes to reflective light? Will it look horrible compared to what it would if the wall was brighter color?
Thank U, the Lite3 is just 90 dollar, Im think good for me for Movies. The camera 1080P, 7 way colors( the t 2 have 5 with 720P ), and the most important, the T 2 not like any shine from tables-Windows etc..the lite 3 make one step ahead, but Im sure -as u said in the video the T4 or Just T3 will be the winner in end of 2024.

I love the t3 lite, but the color accuracy is lacking. It is impossible to calibrate without major compromise to some Colors. For example, you can make the white balance colder to get better yellows but then the whites are too cold. Generally, the white, blue, pink, purple, red is performing well and the yellow, orange, green are quite inaccurate. I ended up with 5% saturation and 30% white balance. It’s the best I could come up with after hours of calibration.

The T2 has actually twice as many LEDs than the 3 Lite (not just a third more). Anyways, good and helpfull video! The say the 3 Lite realizes when the screen gets turned off and will turn off too, then. That would be cool, even if it goes on as soon as the screen ist turned of again? One annoying thing about the T2 is the need to manually turn it on and off....

But as you are probably going to have to turn the brightness way down anyway, as this is supposed to be an ambient backlight, the main visual difference is how even the light spread onto the wall is going to be and that is also a function of the distance and reflectivity of same.
In my experience, getting the settings right is probably the key thing with either of these backlights.

Hey thanks. I have both of these and my T2 if the screen is black say at 12:25 the left upper there are no lights on. Even at 13:31 I have no lights off the my left side or left top. I know to much Saturation can sometimes effect this so I keep my around 30someting

From what I've tried it isn't possible. Im thinking it may work better if you have an OLED panel where the screen is completely black. I don't have one as yet so unable to try. Once I upgrade my TV I will test thos and see if there is a difference. Of so I'll make a video explaining.

just bought the 3 Lite a week ago just before this video dropped .... i knew T2 is superior but for 62Euros + free shipping .... i guess 3 Lite is a win also for a 1st product.
my TV sits in a little cove area. If that makes sense. The wall behind the TV is about 12 to 16 inches away. Should I choose the T2 over the 3 light? Because of this.
Either one will work tbh.
But I must say the T2 is the better all rounder.

How you do that the black parts on t3 isnt lighted? I bought T3 and its always bright white on dark scenes even if its nights scenes..

Sometime it depends on the type of screen you have. Play around with the brightness.and see if it changes.
Before watching your video, I was leaning to get the t2, after seeing it, I actually liked the 3lite on most situations, specially when you have blacks and it completely turns of the leds while on the t2 there's like a constant ambient warm white...
If you haven't bought it already I would suggest waiting for the T3 Pro if you can. I feel it'll be here by summer if you can wait that long 🤔

I have a T1 right now. If I upgrade to the T3, would I be able just switch out the cameras? Or would I need to replace the LEDs entirely?
Thanks for checking out the video. You would need to swap out the LEDs as well. This is due to the newer chipsets on the striplight itself. You could also end up supplying to much power to the older striplights as the power supply for the T1 was much weaker.

I have the 3 lite. A friend of mine has the T2. Overall, the T2 is better. I went from my 3 lite, over to his house and put his t2 on. I could tell instantly.

For adjusting the angle that the camera is pointing towards the screen, is there any way to actually see (or know) what the camera is seeing (possibly through the App) or is this pure guesswork? This might be especially important if mounting the camera below the screen and behind or on top of a soundbar. Thanks
Yes the Govee app takes you though the steps and you can see a representation of what the camera can see which helps with the setup.
My concern is that my TV is hung on the wall and not sure if T2 could hang on the bottom of the TV as that seems to be the best position to capture the screen better. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!
Yeah you may have to put it on the top as you need a stable base to put it at the bottom. Other option is to purchase the Govee sync box instead where you don't need to use the camera. Only downside is that you can only use the signals going into the tv so any application you have built into the tv is not able to take advantage of the Govee lights.

why is the sensor for t2 at the bottom and at the top for t3
So.i can test both at the same time. Also demonstrates that the T2 can be placed at the bottom where as the T3 lite can't.

It seems like the T3 light is actually more color accurate esp w/ the blacks than the T2, but it just doesnt have the light output and camera angle viewing isnt as broad, really hoping they make a flat mount T3 full version

Awesome review man, appreciate it! @24:52 "color banding" is a good term here. Usually used when describing color bit depth in cameras and displays. The T3 lite is like 8 bit 420 and the T2 pro is like 10 bit 422. Just thought that was a good analogy here and could be a good way to describe in future reviews!

The only thing that sold me on the 3 lite from this is that I like watching movies in the dark and I think the T2 showing bright light when the screen is dark would bug me. Vs the 3 lite it’s more just enhancing the experience without being overpowering. Also I like how the 3 lite shows a smoother gradient where I feel the T2 is a bit more dramatic. Almost like orbs of light vs the 3 lite’s aura-esque glow lol. But some might like the T2 better and that’s fine

The t2 dims to almost nothing with an oled tv. LED TV’s transmit light at all times so I would imaging it would make the backlight more noticeable. It does still have some light, just not nearly as noticeable as what I see on your video. Also helps to adjust the saturation down.

Yeah sounds like your screen maybe too close to get a good reflection.
As far as color/ light tracking makes sense. T2 with side cameras see colors on sides better. T3 looking down the middle track things in the center better. I've noticed this middle/side tracking with my T1 for the year I've had it. I've been wanting something that keeps dark areas off while still tracking lit areas of screen. T3 might be what I'm looking for. Thanks for the vid.

I just got this for my TV as well, but it's a Govee H6198. Neither are what is here. However, I do want to upgrade next year to a better model, but I will hope for something like the T3. I love when it is black on screen it turns off, and when the lights go to the edge it really is bright. The only two improvements that I hope they do is that it has a bit more LEDs for a more accurate color. And when the colors don't shoot to the edge it still has a bright light to it.

T3 looks better in the visual comparison to me. Yes, color accuracy on the T3 not as good, but I think good enough and maybe we can still tweak it a bit, BUT I hate how the T2 is illuminating even on black parts. That is a lot more annoying. Example 14:42, why would it illuminate on the left side, it should be black

Have the 3Lite and my LEDs are bright like the T2. Did you adjust the brightness at all in the settings? You also mention flicker on the 3 lite but you have to choose between movie / game. Game will have more flicker.
I was referring to the seperation that is caused by the fewer amount of LEDs

After watching your comparison, it looks like the 3 liters is actually much better at adapting the light to what’s pictured on the screen. It even moved backlight in the same direction as the colors in the screen.
Yeah really depends on what you want out of the color reproduction.
Hello i have a 98 inch TV and just bought a Govee T2 envisual for 75-85 inch tv, Govee T2 envisual 98- 100 inch is not yet available in europe. Can i perhaps sync a 6 meter Govee M1 RGBIC led strip with the T2, remove the led strip that came along with the T2, cause i cannot install it on the edges and install M1 instead? after syncing? will you think this will work?
No that definitely won't work. Each LED is controlled by the controller. It knows the amount of LEDs there should be and the location of each one. If you change this it will most likely error out and not turn on. Hope that helps 👍

I prefer the 3 lite way of handling the dark sections of videos but I doubt it does it intentionally. The T2 is way smoother in handling the colours.
I still have the T1 and although I cut it off at the bottom by mistake, it still works great. I might hold on an upgrade for the T3.

Need to turn the relative brightness down. That's how I got my t2 to dim the areas with no color. Also adjust white balance on a completely white screen. Try to get the lights as close to white as possible.

Can you use T2 led with T3 box/cam and vise versa?
No they have different firmware so won't work if you switch the camera with the sync box.

There is a setting in the DreamView app to turn of screen after a specified time.
Positioning the camera UNDER the TV makes more sense than having a distraction above the screen. HOWEVER, wouldn't the cameras be reversed, meaning the system is displaying left-side colours behind the right-side of the screen? I'm hoping for a workaround on how I might resolve this possible issue, please.

There is a setting that you can now turn on that once there is no output from the TV for a selected amount of time it will turn off. It will come back on again once there is output.

Due to the tilting mechanism the T3 can't be placed at the bottom of the screen unless you are able to tilt it in some other way. Yes i agree. If you want the screen to be completely back then use the T3 Lite. But for colour production and accuracy I would advise the T2

This video has managed to convince me that... the Philips version is probably just the way to go - as long as you use HDMI sources for your content.
There's always some part of the screen which either doesn't quite pick up on, colours are a bit off, mixed with the latency - which is pretty much unavoidable. This entire system feels like.. a budget system as compared to the insanely priced Philips sync option.
So, live with the drawbacks, or accept that a proper system is just 3-4 times the price.

If you badly want this effect, and you're on a slight budget, then the Govee is definitely the way to go.
Personally - So far I've accepted the idea of not having either. :) I got some DIY LEDs (SK6812, like WS2812b, but with white) behind the TV, connected to a WeMos D1, and the WLED project - It doesn't follow the TV, but gives me some bias lighting, with effects.
@@Nightykk since it is my first attempt at a tv backlight, I went with the T3 Lite since it is more affordable and doesn’t bleed white light on dark scenes. I hope I won’t regret this purchase 🤷♂️
I still got the original Flow Pro, model h6054 still work like a charm. I added them to met 50" tv and looks great. Shitty thing this was before dreamview. So I need an upgraded sync box to make it the sync center. Now there doing difficult to send one out

I didn't notices any difference in speed if there was it wasn't noticeable to the human eye. All my other Govee kit works so not sure why not the light bars. As soon as the real T3 come out I will be doing a review and comparison so make sure to SUBSCRIBE, LIKE and hit the notification 🔔👍

Feels like that 3 lite, is basically the t1. The version before the dual camera. That was how it first worked

From a designer's perspective, Lite 3 is preferable. T2 is oversaturated (I understand why might work for some), making Lite 3 get closer to screen colours without overdoing it. Especially when you have additional lighting on both sides (like me), making T2 an overkill :).

it seems like the 3 lite is more accurate especially with the blacks having no light however the brightness is a big issue, and the fact you can't put it on the bottom of the screen
Let's hope they release the T3 Pro really soon 🙏🏾
The wall behind my tv is black. Is this a crime when it comes to reflective light? Will it look horrible compared to what it would if the wall was brighter color?
I currently have the t1 and will wait for the t3 pro (if that ever comes out)!

Thank U, the Lite3 is just 90 dollar, Im think good for me for Movies. The camera 1080P, 7 way colors( the t 2 have 5 with 720P ), and the most important, the T 2 not like any shine from tables-Windows etc..the lite 3 make one step ahead, but Im sure -as u said in the video the T4 or Just T3 will be the winner in end of 2024.

I love the t3 lite, but the color accuracy is lacking. It is impossible to calibrate without major compromise to some Colors. For example, you can make the white balance colder to get better yellows but then the whites are too cold. Generally, the white, blue, pink, purple, red is performing well and the yellow, orange, green are quite inaccurate. I ended up with 5% saturation and 30% white balance. It’s the best I could come up with after hours of calibration.
Yeah that's annoying. Still waiting on the 3 Pro which I think will come anytime now that we're getting closer to darker nights

There is a setting in the DreamView app to turn of screen after a specified time.

Yes but more functionality. If you don't have any of the cameras then definitely still go for the T3 Lite over the T1. Hope this helps.

The T2 has actually twice as many LEDs than the 3 Lite (not just a third more).

The say the 3 Lite realizes when the screen gets turned off and will turn off too, then. That would be cool, even if it goes on as soon as the screen ist turned of again?
One annoying thing about the T2 is the need to manually turn it on and off....
