Interesting discussion there regarding the "ghost lineage." I'm endlessly fascinated by stuff like this. One of the most famous is Romer's Gap, a 15 million year gap at the beginning of the Carboniferous which had (until recently) practically no tetrapod fossils, despite the obvious issue that there were obviously huge numbers of them before & after that period. Then the late, great Stan Wood explored East Kirkton Quarry, & dozens of creatures from Romer's Gap were discovered. Just sharing cos alaeontology is cool.
Also Schinderhannes, an anomalocarid that shows up in the Devonian, when the next-youngest member of the group is from the *Ordovician*, something like 100 million years older.
As always, a great showcase of some very nice mods. The coloration of the Jobaria seems to be directly based on Joschua Knuppe’s Europasaurus design. Also, as for the Elaphrosaurus, it almost certainly did not have short hind limbs. Ornithomimosaur-like legs are characteristic of Elaphrosaurs, which has led to many fragmentary species being bounced between being noasaurids, coelurosaurs close to ornithomimosaurs, and their own branch of ceratosaurs.
When I was in preschool I very clearly remember having a huge poster of this Lio in the front office. Idk the reason. Probably just kids like dinosaurs and marine reptiles. I would talk to my mom about it and tell her how cool it was. Once a dino nerd, always a dino nerd.
Imagine if all the scenery (such as the statues in this video), new species mods (real species, realistic myths/cryptids (including these mermaids), hybrids, etc), and new variants/cosmetics Bestinslot showcased for this game (including future mods he may showcase) were all added officially to the game by Frontier with all their bugs/glitches fixed. 👀
Asmodeus has a trampoline?? Very fun mods, some lovely additions in this episode! Thank you, mod makers! The mermaid does feel vaguely familiar but I can't think why. I like it though!
Oxalaia is not pronounced "Ox-ay-lia", instead is "Oxal-eye-a", the the "eye" being pronounced the strongest. Also Irritator, Baryonyx, Ichthyovenator, etc are all spinosaurids and look quite similar to the Suchomimus in the game. so that Oxalaia is not a more realistic interpretation of spinosaurids, but brings it more in line with only some spinosaurine spinosaurids. Correct me if I'm wrong but thats what I've heard.
I feel like the mermaids could be cool for a Seaworld type park, where the "mermaids" are just actors in costumes that swim with performing aquatic reptiles such as ichthyosaurus during some type of show.
I wouldn't say it was necessarily JUST "Velociraptor sounded scarier" as much as Deinonychus straight up used to be lumped as a species of Velociraptor
The new model mods are so cool but the only thing I need for modding about JWE2 is audio mods. I really love to have other audios for my dinos just like in JWE1
I hate the original design in the game so much I actually have never used this animal at all in any of my parks or playthroughs. Fuck it's horrid, but then again a few of the animal designs for this game suck. Elasmosaurus, Barbaridactylus, Deinonychus, original Dreadnaughtus design...I could go on
I mean, at least they made the deinonychus somewhat unique as if it didn’t have the frill it would just be a damn near identical raptor with more colorful patterns, but I can understand the rest
JP Deinonychus & WWD Liopleurodon don't work for me, which is really annoying cuz I hate the JWE2 Deinonychus & Liopleurodon so much and just really wanna get rid of them.

Lurdusaurus is from the Mid Cretaceous actually. And it's just about my favorite Dinosaur from Africa

Worth noting that Sweetners Elaphrosaurus has a far to big head. Elaphrosaurus and noasaurids in general had ornithomimid like proportions.
