Was his own fualt. Should have just tied a bow line to the recovery boat, pulled it to deeper water, and lower the motor. Not dump the prop into the shore at full throttle.
What training do these guys have? Common sense should tell you if you can wade in the water and the boat you are trying to save has water in it that it is riding low. The propeller would be riding low and of course it's a rocky shore. This guy is a bosun?
Their clear lack of training and implementation of safe practices is shocking, how do these fools survive a single day without killing each other is a mystery.
@Conor Gallant Actually, he's not saying that their work isn't important - he's saying that they need "a properly trained crew". What they're doing is important, however, they really should get some training - so many things were done in an unsafe and reckless manner here. Once again .- what they do IS important but could be more effective with proper training.
@Conor Gallant I see your point, but then maybe they should reallocate some of their donations to proper training. If they knew how to do things in both an efficient and effective manner, they would have more success.
So the boats just been half flooded and they try and start the engine straight away 👀 people need to stop giving theses rookies donations because your money isn’t being used correctly,by the looks of things there just out on a Adventure with no clue what there doing
@@jacobpearce8640 Don't forget, they have made multiple mistakes. I mean, I understand people make mistakes. But they have a point, it would have been common sense to tow it from the shore then start it. Considering they were on the shore they should have felt it was rocky....

The worst part is, that they never considered a safety harness for the guy that went on board the sinking dinghy, that they never considered a towing rope until it was too late + (Yanking the throttle to full speed with the prop half submerged can also be dangerous as props can explode if they're spinning too fast due to over revving). You never try to start a possibly flooded engine without pulling the plugs first to see if there is water in the cylinders. If there is you will bend valves. You never turn a prop when it is in two feet of water. Especially when you have a perfectly good boat to tow you out to deeper water. Why are they hiring people who's only experience with water is taking a bath?
I am very surprised they do not carry extra lower units. Seems pretty basic especially when they are relatively cheap compared to the cost of not having a working boat.
I don't understand why they get so much hate, they're actually doing something really cool and I also don't understand why people think that the sea shepherds are pirates and what they do is illegal, because it's not true, and the crew aren't incompetent idiots, most of them were in the marines or the navy and the medical officers are doctors.
