Apologies to everyone for my complete mispronunciation of the word "femmes" (French word for women, should be pronounced more like fahm). I know better! 😅
Thanks for sharing your spinning and knitting🧶💖. I'm sitting knitting socks at soft play, while I watch you. You are the only calm thing here. 😂 the children are all running around screaming. Tomorrow the schools go back, after 6wks of summer hols. 😢 Normally we have nicer weather, but this year there's a storm with high winds and lots of rain coming this week. Hope you get better outdoor knitting weather 🏕😎🌞🧦🧶💖 I love knitting on the beach, but on smaller projects, like socks. Happy knitting!
Here's to a smooth return to school process for all of you. I actually like some cozy rainy indoor days mixed in. It's too hot to sit outside here for much of July and August.
I love what you're making, follow along with you is inspring!! Right now I'm making a bat sleeve sweater from handspun yarn, and spinning some navy blue yarn for a co-worker. Usually I wouldn't spin for anyone else, but he is such an amazing knitter that it I know my yarn will become something amazing 😍 Today I also took the wool batting that I'm solar dyeing with elderberry out of their jars, and the colours are coming out in lovely soft purples and pink-reds
I always enjoy a visit with you as you tempt me with the most beautiful knitting and seeing how your new top steamed into shape was a revelation! What a versatile pattern that is! I was very interested in your Turkish spindle too. I spin on both top and bottom whorls but will now have to try a Turkish spindle! My wheel spinning practice is going well and I am loving it! Take care and thank you x
I am always amazed when I see that you can spin on those handheld spinners, I would make a mess of it! 😂 The tank that you are knitting is going to look fabulous on you, Marceline! Take care. 🌸🌼🌻
Hi, Marce. I like the top that you are wearing. I also like your WIP top. Your spinning apparatuses are interesting… the resulting yarn that they make.
I love your videos and your energy. I'm working on a blanket, and a twists and turns shawl. But I also have a few crosstitch projects going. I would love to learn to spin and also weave but it's not financially feasible to start a new obsession right now. Some day I will though. I hope you have a fabulous day 😊
Hi! It so nice to sit and knit with you! I recently moved to Dominican Republic from California. I’m happy I found your podcast to keep me connected! I’m loving the videos and that WIP. I’m currently working on Whitecaps by Yumiko Alexander, DanDoh. Celi
The Citrine top looks so good on you! Definitely classic with a little kick! Such a wonderful surprise this Sunday night to open YT and find a post from you. You are keeping me company with knitting an extra garter ridge on my ongoing Playful Shawl. I have about 30 grams of yarn of each color left. If I knit one garter ridge of each color daily I have about 15 days of knitting to go. This horse smells the barn…I’m back to single-minded focus on finishing it. So socks are still waiting in the wings. I love how the Marina Skua braid spun up. That’s a gorgeous skein and will make such fun socks. Your current tank top spin is inspiring me to check at Skagit for yarn for a vest I want to make. Supposed to use DK, but your Sport weight is making such a nice fabric, I think it could work. (Hooray for sweater math!) I know it’s been a rocky week (month/year/decade/century…) I hope you are finding some grounding and comfort in making. I believe our transforming disparate elements into something beautiful and comforting, something that did not exist before we combined our imagination, creativity, skill, and artistry with our materials, is a good template for our living in the wider world. And that this is the energy that our world desperately needs now. Sending big ❤️. harpingJanet
Janet, you always have just the right words and I so appreciate you!!! Also "the horse smells the barn" - consider that permanently borrowed😂😂 Friends like you make it all much more worthwhile ❤❤
Thanks I did not know about Tour de Fleece Femme. Like what you are making. I am knitting The Shift with three different kinds of wool that I spun during Tour de Fleece.
Love the new top from Heidi. It’s in my queue + faves. I like the reversibility! Top down is my thing, I don’t mind a bottom up tank, but once I see that a top fits from shoulder to armpit-ish, I feel I can “relax” mentally. If I need to adjust (a-line, increase outward, example) it’s so easy to modify. Annnd, I prefer looser at hip area, never really had a “waist” indentation, so no more tighter fitting tops (many many years ago perhaps … sigh). Thanks for sharing the lovely spinning bits! Beautiful! Enjoy your TdFF, and can’t wait to see the finished new top!
It's definitely in the relaxed stage, you said it so right. Lots of benefits to to down (same reason I love tore up for socks). It's great that you can adjust to knit for the body you have now. I'm doing that more and more.
@@heyBrownBerry I’m still learning…usually size up too large. My brain: bust size + xyz inches. Reality (lessons learned): Upper bust + less positive ease, if more needed, add to the underarm cast on sts. Thank goodness for UA-cam and other groups, project notes… I’m feeling more confident to try & make my own sweaters/tops. I will buy a pattern that has interesting designs, textures, features that I’d never come up with !! Trouble is, I have too many! Then “pattern paralysis” and yarn choice and color choice. But it’s soooo much fun ! Anticipation!! Thanks for your in-depth, detailed pattern (or yarn) choices. Helps me to choose wisely. Very much appreciated!
Geez Louise Marce, both of those tops are just gorgeous! Love the pattern details, yarn choices and your knitting skill. Thanks for sharing. I’m on a bit of a knitting timeout to rest the beginnings of a “trigger finger” unfortunately. Been working on the Stephen West Mystery sock kal - it’s been a wild ride for sure!
Oh goodness, pausing for injury of any kind is so tough, but absolutely the right call. I hope you are rewarded for it with a speedy return. Those MKALs are always quite the adventure for sure 😅
Hi, Marce. Nope, I'd never heard of TdF Femmes. Love watching sport, so been watching since it started earlier this morning. I'm a cyclist (small c) myself. Oh, and I'm knitting some vanilla socks. In my knitting, I go more for the meditative. x
Meditative stitching is beautiful and right. Love to hear it. I must know... what do you notice in the racing success you're a Cyclist yourself? ☺️ I'm fascinated by how the teams work together for one person ultimately to lead.
Hi, Marce. You're too kind! I'm almost 65, so I'm afraid any team rides would be long gone. I'm a sole rider, riding along the river Clyde, listening to the birds, occasionally catching sight of some deer and maybe a stork or 2. I saw a seal once. I joined a cycle group when I retired last year, but didn't enjoy riding on the roads or the steep hills. Loved the camaraderie, however By myself, I keep to the cycle track/shared footpath and like to make a very early start. I've noticed Formula 1 has the same ethos - team glory over that of the individual. How inspiring! x
I love Turkish spindles, they’re how I learned to spin. Did you know you can 3ply as you go on them?! It’s an interesting method if you don’t particularly enjoy the plying step. I wrapped a small woolen spin yesterday and am just filling time before gathering energy and courage to start a larger project.
May that energy come for you as soon as 🙏🏾 I had heard about and seen a few examples of the chain ply as you go method, but I still can't really conceptualizer it fully. I may give it a try at some point though, because I'm such a fan of chain plied yarn.
@@heyBrownBerry There is one video in particular that I referenced for it, I will try to find it even tho I think it wasn’t the greatest in terms of quality. After looking I did not see it anymore but the Jenkins or Spinning Sarah one is nice as well. Good luck if you try again!
Hello there! I actually don't 🤭 I knit almost exclusively with animal fibers, but I have really enjoyed knitting with linen for a couple of projects in the past. I've knit and crocheted with cotton, but I don't enjoy how it feels in my hands. The elasticity and "squish" of wool is my favorite. I find that this made in lightweight wools or even wool/silk or wool/cotton or hemp blends are great for garments to wear here.
Apologies to everyone for my complete mispronunciation of the word "femmes" (French word for women, should be pronounced more like fahm). I know better! 😅
What a lovely Sunday of stitching! Thanks for sharing with us 🤎
LOVE that top you’re wearing at the start.
Right now I'm working on spinning crepe yarn for socks. I love the fiber you're spinning. So gorgeous!
It is relaxing to listen to you. I was finishing a sleeve (on an Espace Tricot sweater) while you talked.

Hello my friend! So glad that we can twin on our spins.
Love your podcast. I hope you spin up enough yarn to make something you like.
Thanks for being here with me. I'm really enjoying spinning up good yardage lately.

Hello from Swansea, Illinois.
Hi!
I’m working on a second sock - I reached a point on my framed sweater where I need a break from repetitive colorwork so the sock is perfect
Sometimes it's great not to just push through so you can enjoy the project more. Good on you making progress on your sock pairing though.
I love that Citrine top, may knit it . What happened to Maria from Ninja chickens, she just stopped posting!?

This is off topic prob, but girl you look amazing- your face looks so fresh and that chin line looks so chiseled 😍😍
Thank you so much 🥰
As a Florida knitter I wonder if you knit much with plant fibers yarn? Which are your favorites?

Does the whorl of your spindle detach from the shaft? Are there multiples shafts that act as bobbins? I'm fascinated! Thank you.
Yes, exactly!
@@heyBrownBerry thank you. I've been dreaming of this and knew it must exist. Spin on!
