I went to an electronics store and there were many TVs running various demo content. To be honest, I was very attracted to a particular TV because it's picture was something very unique, never-seen-before kind. Other TVs gave a very highly sharp and high saturation content, while that TV gave a very buttery and fluid picture quality. Later I found out that the TV was supporting Dolby Vision. Then it striked me. Thst tv was love at first sight. Yeah it works.
It all depends on HDR implementation. Some better displays with brilliant tone mapping make vanilla HDR look better than dolby vision, for example samsung high end TVs. Thave great brightness and tone mapping compared to Dolby Vision on many other Tvs.

Doby vision can't display true blacks on cheap LCD Tvs. So a better TV with good contrast ratio is what you need, Like VA LCD based TV with local dimming or OLED.
