I've experienced going through with the treatment for moya moya disease 8 years ago and direct bypass works out for me. However, my neurosurgeon recommended not to ignore if numbness occurs or other symptoms of stroke as this disease can be progressive. My most recent MRI 2 years ago shows negative signs of moya moya disease and the bypass is still intact. I am glad that there is a treatment for this disease. God Bless these awesome doctors!

Thank you Dr. Wang. Great presentation. Very valuable information. My husband had an operation, an EDAS and since he hasn't have any more brain stroke thank God. But he decided to have the operation late after having more than 4 brain strokes within the period of 5- 10 years and those strokes affected his vision the way to express himself in his second language, memory lose, some flexibility on his motors skills on his right hand etc. :( we thank got he is still alive though and that we could convinced him to have the surgery :)

Hi, my son was diagnosed with Moyamoya but after all tests they refuse to do surgery for him. Would we be able to get his file reviewed from your hospital? We are from Melbourne Australia and would like a team that actually understands the disease and is experienced to review his file. Thanks

Yes, it's so tragic........ My deaf son collapsed in Walmart at age 41, which was later diagnosed as Moya-Moya. He had operations on both sides, and recovered somewhat but still suffers tinnitus and vision aberations and who knows what else. Doctors he goes to have no idea about Moya-Moya and likely don't have the time to research it. It's truly tragic........

I'm also a 41yrs moyamoya patient, from Japan, who had surgery(STA-MCA anastomosis) on my right brain half a year ago.
How is your son, hope he's getting better.
I still suffer from tinnitus but have no problem with the ear and cerebral.
I have trouble remembering things, understanding other people's talk, and doing multiple tasks. My Doctor said it might be the dysfunction of my higher brain.
      It's truely tragic to me...

@@maree5201 ......... Yes, so very tragic. I don't know the extent of my son William's problems, but I fear his mind could possibly not be functioning well either. He has trouble communicating with doctors, and, as with his current foot problem which shows no outward injury, but pains him greatly, we ask 'could it possibly be just in his head?' Just lately I've asked him to come up here to Oak Ridge, Tn. and visit a doctor here to learn more about his problems. Both the tinnitus and headaches constantly from light sources and loud noises bother him, and he must darken the room and stay inside during very bright days.
I searched the internet and so little shows up for Moya-Moya disease, I fear it will be years before they really understand it. And there are so few cases of it, not that many doctors have even heard of it.
If you have any questions for Willy you can email him at williamcoryn@gmail.com and ask him......
      Peace........

My daughter, had the surgery about two year ago and still has residual symptoms, particularly when stressed. She stated last night, that she feels the symptoms are more frequent now. Could it be, because she has stopped taking her daily dose of aspirin? Is there a holistic alternative to thin the blood out?
