  • Bought these Touch-Me-Not plant seeds from some market in Amsterdam a year ago, kinda cool :)
"Mimosa pudica is a creeping annual or perennial flowering plant of the pea/legume family Fabaceae. It is often grown for its curiosity value: the sensitive compound leaves fold inward and droop when touched or shaken and re-open a few minutes later"

I live in a dry desert climate where plants like this don't grow, but my uncle had one of these as a potted plant in his house for many years when I was a child.
I used to love stroking all of its leaves and watching it close up from the contact. It still fascinates me that some plants can move and behave in such ways. I'll always have fond memories of that plant.

she "sleeps" during the night and so cute, too bad her life cycle is so short but at least the new cements always germinate❤❤❤❤❤

Nice timelapse. There's also a species of this plant native to Puerto Rico called the "Mori Vivi" which literally translates to Died & Lived. This variety however, has thorns and can only thrive in tropical regions. The commonality though is that being wild plants, they are covered in tiny white hairs that act as micro-sensors which signals the plant that it's time to close up when sensing that an animal or a person is touching it. They may even be more closely related to ferns due to this characteristic, but don't quote me on this last theory, lol.

I live in Indonesia, and in Indonesia the name of the plant is "Putri Malu"
here the plants grow wild and very much, usually they grow anywhere, in the fields, in the forest, even in the yard with other shrubs
I really like that you explore lots of plants, it can be knowledge for other people who have never seen it, I hope you make more time lapses of other plants, cheers🌱
