Great video! I can't believe the old hive installation that was replaced with the nest. It's unbelievable that people actually charged for that installation. Now they have to pay twice for you to fix it.

    • @Heatking
      @Heatking  2 дні тому +1

I suspect the last installation was diy, it was done by the previous owner who wouldn’t transfer the details on to the new owner. That’s why they opted for nest plus they had nest cameras etc. But agreed! Shocking installation!

    Great vid 👌
With those siamp flush valves I know what you mean about the cables too long.
They come as 500mm , however you can buy the cables separately and they do a 400mm which is standard for China cisterns. The longer cable is for hideaway cisterns.
I've got a van full of 500mm cables I've taken off & replaced with the smaller ones.
If you go to plumbinbits website they're the cheapest site for all fillvalves and flushvalves , some by about 9quid .
City lumping charge about 28quid for the siamp flush valve.
What's good with siamp is all there flushvalves fir the same cradle. Saves soo much hassle and changing the fillvalve seals is a doddle .
A little tip I use when taking out flushvalves especially the ones that are really tight and end up moving the cradle.
I use a screwdriver through the bottom of the cradle against its support and then when you twist to remove them you can hold against the cradle saves the aggro if they start to let by once you've got the old one out . I also put a little bit of grease in the lugs so makes it easier to remove the next time. I found the worst are ideal standard ones!
Keep up the quality work fella 👍

@@Heatking I was impressed with the vid of you and your dad on that cabin & I can see where you get alot of your experience from . I think it's amazing to see father and son working together. My late dad was a hydraulic fitter on big jobs for rolls Royce jaguar etc working on stuff upto 30bar and fine tolerances , beat it into about doing a job properly. But also said you can only work with what's in front of you .
A little gripe ... why does every installer use knuckle bends on waste ! Driv2s me nuts , I've lost count how many jobs I go to blocked wastes sinks shower etc , where you can't rod them so have to cut them out and fit swept bends.
Knuckle bends are OK when 1st installed bit a short while down the line when issues appear with rats of hair etc you can understand why not to fit them. Is it bcos they're cheaper or that you use them on condense so hence that's what is used .
Hey not my worry for much longer . Be someone else's! It's what I call SEP to my customers when I turn up to repair stuff and they say why do they leave it like that! I say SEP they ask what's that? I then say Someone Else's Problem.
Or the guy I've yet to see in nearly 50yrs plumbing and come across loads of his work we all know of him "Some cnuts been here" the blokes legendary like the elusive pimpernel 🤣🤣

Definitely good from your late father drilling into you about doing a job right. You’ve obviously took that forward with you.
With knuckle bends, I’m one that uses them all the time and it is down to the fact I only carry them on the van for condensates. It’s quite rare I actually install waste pipes but I do install knuckles. (I’m sorry) 😂 also they don’t need sinking in walls as much. But I appreciate where you’re coming from in regards to future maintenance
