❤️ This video is not sponsored. I purchased all products used in the video. All opinions are100% my own.
MANY years ago, I worked for Estee Lauder one summer. Her philosophy was very present in the training I had for the job. We wore navy blue dresses, provided for us, and always, high heeled navy pumps. (Yes, my feet hurt at the end of the day!!) I loved that job, helping customers feel beautiful!! I love this foundation, but it's not right for my skin at my age.
What a gorgeous video, Jenny. Well done!!!❤❤❤
Hi Patti! 🤗 I LOVE hearing about your Estée Lauder experience! ❤️❤️❤️ And you're so right! Such a wonderful job to help others feel beautiful! When I worked for Clinique, I became super close friends with a lady who worked (at the counter next to me) for Estée Lauder, and would always sneak over and smell her perfumes, (and look at her foundations of course!) I was always envious of her Navy blue dress though, because those darn white Clinique "doctor coats" were darn near IMPOSSIBLE to keep clean when working with makeup all day! 😂 But I did not envy the fact that she always had to wear "nice" shoes with the dress, whereas I could hide more comfy shoes, because I was allowed to wear pants. I don't know how ladies can make it wearing heels for work! God bless 'em! 😇 I hope you have a fantastic weekend my friend! ❤️
@@foundationlady I loved hanging out with my friends from Clinique. I bet those white jackets were hard to keep clean!! We used to “share” samples!😉♥️
Every time I hear Double Wear, I hear Shelly saying “1C1 Cool Bone.” It’s possible I’ve seen every one of her videos. 😳
Awwww I LOVE that!! 🥰 Shelly is the best!!! ❤️
I'm 51 years old and I have been using this foundation since it launched in 1997. Loved the tribute to Esty.
Thank you so much Karla! 🥰 I'm so happy you enjoyed it! ❤️
Ok, seriously I love this series so much! I appreciate the research and time you put into it. I rarely think to think about the history of makeup because it’s always been viewed as “frivolous or unimportant” but it’s not either of those things. Thank you for this video 😘
Thank you Jan! ❤️❤️❤️ I seriously appreciate your comment! 🥰 I just love sharing these videos, and it warms my heart so much to know that you enjoy them! 🙏🏻 Have a wonderful weekend! 🌺
@@foundationlady you too🥰😘
I love this foundation. It have used it for years. I don't use it every day but when I need my foundation to last, this is my go to.
Thanks for sharing your experience with me Heidi! ❤️ I avoided it for years because I couldn’t find a good shade match, but then I finally decided to just purchase two to mix together, and I’m so happy I did! It really is lovely! 😍 Have a beautiful day! 🦋💕
You did a great job mixing shades to get your perfect match. Loved this video! Like dinner and a movie but with foundation as the main dish 😁
Awwww I love that (dinner and a movie!) 🥰 You are so sweet! Thank you so very much Bryn!! ❤️❤️❤️
Awe, what a classic! Hugs to handsome Norm 🥰
Thanks Cupie! 🥰 Hugs right back! ❤️🤗
You look FANTASTIC!! Such a lovely presentation of a great foundation and history of the company! Thank you!!
Thank you so much! 🤗 I really appreciate it! ❤️ Have a great weekend!🌺
I just love the music, the makeup application style, the historical information. Your videos are awesome!
Thank you so much!! 🥹 That is so very sweet of you! ❤❤❤ I really appreciate your feedback!
I really appreciate the comparison color swatches. So much more helpful than on the regular website description. Thank you! 🥰
Oh I'm so glad! ❤️ Thanks so much for taking the time to leave such sweet comment! 🤗 I really appreciate it! 🙏🏻
I love Double Wear. Such a classic indeed. But, just like you, I don't have a perfect shadematch. In my country, not all shades are available. And with my love for trying out foundations, I don't want to buy two expensive foundations to make one shadematch. But there are two shades I can make work, somewhat, even though they're not perfect. Thanks for the fun video!
Hi Marielle! I always love to hear your experience with foundations across the pond! 🥰 I'm so surprised to hear that they don't have all the shades available in your country though! I would've thought with as popular a foundation as this is, that it was be easy to get your hands on any shade. Thanks for always giving me the inside scoop! ❤️ Have a great weekend! 🤗
I really enjoyed the music and history that accompanied the try on. Well done!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Lee! ❤️ Thank you so much for your sweet comment! 🤗 Have a great day! ⭐️
Rose from Rose and Ben just did some Instagram reels showing how to apply long wear foundation properly, and explained why using it incorrectly, might lead to you not liking the product, when it could look great if you didn’t overdo it, did it in sections, didn’t try to add tons of layers of it, etc. She was demonstrating with the new KVD liquid foundation.
I just love Rose! She's wonderful! And those are great tips! 🥰 Thanks so much for sharing.❤️ Have a beautiful day!! 🌺
@@foundationlady I didn’t know that long wear foundations needed to be applied differently, and I avoided them because of negative reviews that were based on the issues that can arise if not applied in sections, etc. Your video was perfect timing, because this is a foundation I wanted to try, and now I feel more confident trying it. :)
Good old Estée Lauder! My mom used to use Esteé exclusively until she discovered Lancome. Those two were my first introductions to higher-end makeup and skincare. If there were products in the gifts my mom didn't want, she'd hand them over to me. I've never tried anything in the Doublewear line. By the time it came along, I'd moved on to Smashbox, MAC, and some of the brands that actually had shades that matched my skin. Now that I know Doublewear has such a vast range of shades, I should give them a try. Thanks for the history lesson! I didn't know Estée was honored with the Medal of Freedom! By the way, the Doublewear looks fabulous on you! I'm getting sleepy with Norm. The music was very soothing. Zzzzz ...
Thank you Elizabeth! 🤗 I just love your comment. ❤️ I LOVED when my mom would pass her makeup down to me to "play" with!
Also, I've been having so much fun going back to these "tried and true" foundations that are so easy to forget about with all the new formulas being released each month! I'm (re)discovering some real gems! 🥰 Have a fabulous weekend! 🌺
Looks fabulous on your skin!
You're so sweet! 🤗 Thank you!!❤️
That was interesting and nice job on the editing. I love history of things. OMG! That dog's face how can you not love that face!
Hi Carol!! Thanks so much for the sweet comment! 🤗 I just love doing the research for the "classic" videos! 🥰 Normie sends you big kisses! 🐶
Another thorough, informative and entertaining review! ❤️👍
Thanks so much Heather!! ❤️🤗❤️
I love your historical videos. So interesting!
Thank you so much! I have so much fun doing the research for these videos! ❤️
LOVE this review. It was my foundation for almost 20 years!
Yay!!! I'm so glad!🥰 It really is wonderful, although a touch more prep work for those of us with drier skin types. ❤️ Have a wonderful weekend my friend! 🌺
@@foundationlady exactly the reason I let her go😁
I have this foundation love it. Love my Nars light reflecting
Oh I'm so glad to hear that Sandy! 🥰 Both of those are wonderful, and I just love having different kinds of foundations in my beauty arsenal to suit my different needs (or moods! 😂) don't you? Have a great weekend! 🌺
And it was fun! Loved this video, ma'am, beautifully done, and wonderful information on Ms. Lauder, thank you! I've always thought DoubleWear was a lovely product, and I have a fantastic shade-match in the line. Sadly, my skin just isn't suited to it any longer, so I have to rely on lighter-coverage, slightly more forgiving finishes. You wore it so well and looked just amazing! Okay, now when did I miss your haircut, it suits you beautifully--love it! And tell Handsome Norm he's not fooling us; *everything* makes him sleepy... LOL Have a wonderful weekend, Jenny. 🥰
Haha! You are correct! Normie is a sleeper! 🥰😂 And thank you so much for the kind words about the video! You are always so supportive! 🤗 As far as the hair goes... I actually didn't get it cut, I just pulled out the good ol' fashioned hot rollers! (I did it old school.... because for the LIFE of me, I cannot figure out how to work a curling iron! 😂) Have a wonderful weekend my sweet friend! ❤️
@@foundationlady omg, I had the same issue with curling irons for my entire adult life! Finally booked an appointment w/my hair salon for a "teaching" session, and it was awesome! I took my own curling iron, and the stylist was so kind and patient, she made it clear and simple. There is help out there if you ever decide it's worth pursuing. LOL On the other hand, your hair looked stunning with the hot roller treatment, so it might be simpler, still, to stick with what works so well for you. You remind me so much of old-school film-star glamour and I love it!
@@bryndabaker6782 you are a GENIUS!! Why have I never thought of bringing in a curling iron to learn how to do it right?! I'm so excited to try that now! Thanks for the great idea! 😘❤ Also, your comment about old-school film star glamour TOTALLY made my week!! ❤❤❤
Great content. Love the history. Love the music.
Thanks so much Carol! 🤗 I hope you're having a great week! ❤️
Hi my friend! 💖 and Normie too! ❤️ what a fantastic video! I really enjoyed it. This foundation looks so flawless on you and beautiful 💖 in all kinds of light too! Great wear time and it didn’t look like it oxidized either. I haven’t tried this foundation as I don’t wear full coverage usually but I’ve heard so many people just rave about it. It must be good if it’s been around for so many years! It looked really great on you after 10 hours of wear too. I just love these types of videos with the back story and pictures and fun facts. Thank you for all the hard work you put into them for us ❤ oh and not only does your makeup look stunning, I love your hair too! Take care my beautiful friend and have a wonderful weekend. Give Norm a treat from me and lots of pets ❤️ keep right on shining! Sending love hugs and prayers your way 💖🙏💗💫🌟
Thank you dearest! 🤗 I hope you're having a fabulous Friday! Normie is snoozing downstairs as I respond to my comments upstairs and enjoy the cozy, downright "balmy" 37 degree weather today! 😂 (seriously though... much warmer than the below freezing windchill from last weekend!) I'm so glad you like these types of videos! I have so much fun putting them together! ❤️ Your comment made my day! 🤗 Love, hugs and prayers right back atcha my sweet friend! ❤️🙏🏻
@@foundationlady I’m liking the warmer weather too! I’m afraid it’s gonna drop cold here anytime though and we will have to pay with below zero temps brrrrr! ❤️💖💜 🐾
In my mid 30’s and 40’s this was my go to foundation unfortunately as I’ve aged it just doesn’t work for my skin anymore. I’ve toyed with the idea of mixing it with some moisturizer to see if I can sheer it out. It’s the only foundation I’ve ever worn that matched my color to a T and the longevity is just amazing! Now you have me thinking I need to purchase another bottle! 😂
I’m 55 and same here. I wore it for years, but now it doesn’t look good at all.
@@michellereyna4945 have you tried thinning it out with moisturizer? I’m really wondering if this would work. Now that I’m 53 I really like minimal coverage, full coverage just doesn’t work for mature skin.
If you do try it again, I hope it works out better for you with the moisturizer mixed in (great idea!) I was definitely nervous when I first put it on, because of the really matte texture, but luckily my hydrating primer really helped! 😅Whew! ❤️ Have a great weekend! 🌸
@@christian5707 yes you can use moisturizer or a serum and it works beautifully
This was really interesting! I've actually never tried this foundation, though I do have the EL Futurist Hydra Rescue.
Thank you so much!!❤️ I really appreciate your sweet comment. (And I enjoy the EL Futurist too!) 🥰 Have a beautiful day! 🌸
Nice video! I love this foundation.
Thank you so much Nickie! ❤️ I really appreciate your sweet comment! 🤗❤️
Wearing mine today!
We're foundation twins! ❤️🥰
you both look great
Thank you Janet! ❤️❤️❤️
I LOVE Doublewear. I am 47. It works really well if you use a glowy primer and apply with a sponge. It is hell on earth when applied with a brush. The only other foundation that comes close for wear time is Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush foundation, but that one does look cakey even when applied with a sponge so not suited for daytime wear
Thanks so much for sharing this with me! ❤️ If you don't mind my asking... do you have a favorite glowy primer that you liked to use underneath, or do you just kinda mix it up depending on the day?
@@foundationlady The Saie glowy gel works immensely well under Double wear, make sure you let the glowy gel dry down first. You could try using the Dior Glow primer if you have that one? It works in a pinch, but not as well as the Saie. Doublewear is my HG foundation, but I would love to find a foundation as longwearing and budgeproof that is slightly less flat matte. The Dior Forever matte foundation is nice, but doesn't have the longevity of doublewear unfortunately. I do prefer a radiant foundation, but they are never longwearing. I've tried pretty much all the longwear radiant kinds. The best of the bunch of those is Haus Labs foundation
Gorgeous!
Thanks Kim!! ❤️❤️❤️
Loved the history lesson....got any more history of make up facts??? ❤
You are so sweet! 🤗 Thank you so much for your comment, and YES! I do! ❤️ Have you had a chance to check out the Revlon ColorStay Foundation video? It's titled, "Alway's a Classic." Also I have two videos on the History of Foundation (Part I and Part II) where I cover the historical facts about foundation. Additionally, I'm planning to keep my "Classics" series going (like the Estée Lauder and Revlon videos) as I have SO much fun researching and putting them together! Thanks you so much for letting me know you enjoy these types of videos!! 😇 I really appreciate it!! ❤️
Ok, I'm the nerd who will play this video over and over just for the music.
I love it! 🥰 Play it girl! ❤️
Thank you for this video 💖
What's the best matte finish, lightweight and non comedogenic foundation for oily acne prone skin to daily use? ( without salicylic acid, fragrance)
Hi ma, 🤗 I was wondering... do you happen to live near a Clinique counter, either in a department store or maybe one in an ULTA or Sephora? The reason I ask, is because when I worked there I was able to learn a lot about their products, and seeing as you are looking for something that is non comedogenic, no fragrance, good for acne prone skin etc. I think you might really be interested in looking at some of their foundations. Everything at Clinique is dermatologist tested, allergy tested, and has no added fragrance. (In fact it was the brand my grandmother used, and she had beautiful skin!) In particular, they have two matte foundations I think you might want to take a look at...the "Beyond Perfecting" foundation + concealer is really good (full-coverage) and the "Stay Matte Oil Free Makeup." The reason I suggest going in person, is not only to be able to feel them in person, to see what you might like best, but also because their shade range can be a little tricky and I think it would be important to try them in- store to get a good color match. (Also they have an "Acne Solutions foundation" but it does contain Salicylic Acid, so you might want to stay away from that one.) Also, if you're looking for a drugstore brand, ALMAY is kind of the "drugstore version" of Clinique. Although I haven't had a chance to try out enough of their foundations yet to give you a really solid answer on what to try from their particular line. ❤️
@foundationlady hi, thank you for your recommendations and guidance, I will test the foundations of the clinique and choose one 😍💖💖
Its the OG that will outlast any new foundation these days
After trying it out, I can absolutely see why it's been around for over 25 years! 😍 It truly is a masterpiece! ❤️
