  • Replacing a piece of 4" pipe. Used the Ridged 915 to groove the pipe.

    I would use the pipe cutter just for no jagged edges and a good square cut .I did up to 3” limited , always threaded. Wish I learned to roll grove I hate when they tie off on piping!

    Great video as always.
    Did you not use a drill to groove with just for videos teaching purposes?

      Yeah, although I use an electric right angle drill because my cordless drill has a hard time running the groover. I haven’t tried it with my new drill, maybe I should.

      @@FireSprinklerTech I use all Hilti tools. I just turn it down into a lower gear and it goes slower, but it has the torque to turn the groover. We use it on sch40 as well.

    I spray wd40 around the hangers real quick and the pipe slides a bit better

    The corrosion on that pipe, could it have been caused by the electrical hanger arcing the ground between fittings?

      Corrosion in dry and pre-action systems is a common problem. It is typically from the moisture and air in the steel pipe.
