MEMORIES is my favorite. It’s a personal to me for my reasons. But also because I know Elvis gave Mac Davis a couple of lines & asked Mac Davis to write the song. Mac Davis tells a story about it on his video about talking about Elvis. It’s a cute story. You can see it here on you tube. I like it’s now or never too allot.
I love Elvis!! He is so talented and so nice looking. I met Elvis at one of his concerts. He was so nice and treated me like he was my best friend. That’s just the way Elvis was. Yes!!! I just love him to this very day!!
It is really hard to say which of his songs is my favorite. There are just so many great ones.. To name a few -‘ I Did it My Way’- ‘The American Trilogy’- and ‘Precious Memories’- - ‘How Great Thou Art’- I could go on forever- I still never get tired of listening to them all!
You are right, Elvis s music is so timeless!!! I have discovered him in my teens in early 2000s and I remained starstruck eversince! I just watched the musical biopic for the second time and I believe they did an amazing tribute to Elvis s legacy!!!
I believe Tom Parker ran Elvis down. He changed after his mom died he didn’t need someone running him ragged and taking 50%of his earnings and just wouldn’t let Elvis grow in any way!
Those in Hollywood didn’t like Elvis when he was alive. Well not quite true. The big stars with great talent liked Elvis. The “establishment” didn’t. Although, the movies he was in weren’t the best. Writing wasn’t good for him.
Hollywood was like that to him and only one person is responsible Tom Parker. Now we had seen him in the movie, I bet you he was like in your face kind of person to get what he wanted. Elvis at liked the excitement, but in the end he hated it. Hollywood can't handle someone who was not an ass kisser. Elvis I believed spoke his mind a lot. Establishment can't handle a popular man, a talented man and a beautiful man loved by everyone.
This movie has made me miss him all over again. I'm 72 and grew up with his movies, the 68 special and then Vegas. I didn't pay attention to the 50s years, too young. However, the movie shows us why he was so controversial and why the audiences went nuts! I watched Austin go from 19 to his 40s I the movie and it was a miracle. But it wasn't just the make up. It was the exact moves Elvis made each time he performed. I saw him in Vegas in 1971. I know what those shows looked like. Now I know why it took Austin almost 2 1/2 years to become elvis. I wonder if he'll EVER, shake the king. Oscars for Austin, Tom Hanks, Baz and Catherine Martin. Austin did not walk on set and suddenly become Elvis. That's impossible. It took such dedication and hard work. It's appropriate that finally we're going back to the theater and THIS MOVIE IS OUT NOW.
I' m so hurt. One if my favorite songs. You can hear the anguish in his voice. It brings me to tears everytime. Only Elvis can sing with such feeling. Not to mention his legendary good looks. I can spend an entire day looking at his photos.
Elvis had so many chronic health issues it's a wonder he lasted til age 42. His prescription pills were a combo of health treatments along with ups and downs he felt he needed to survive and do what he did every day. He took care of so many people and never stopped til the day he died. He was music incarnate who changed America and gains new fans with each generation. ❤️❤️

After Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977, the African American newspaper, the Chicago Defender explained that: “When Elvis Presley breathed his last breath and the press hailed him as the ‘King of Rock,’ Ol’ Man River cried out, ‘Naw he ain’t! My friend Chuck Berry is the King of Rock. Presley was merely a Prince who profited from the royal talent of a sovereign ruler vested with tremendous creativity. Had Berry been white, he could have rightly taken [Presley’s] throne and worn his crown well.’”
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 That's the racism of that era. Most don't even realize black male artist couldn't even put their photos on album covers back then due to racism. They believe it would attract white women to black men and they were against that.
The comeback 1968 video(prime time rental) is the best concert ever! Elvis at his most glorious talent, health and looks. Of course his other concerts are great as well…except that the last one, a few weeks before his death left me very sad and wanting to hug Elvis in his courageous effort to perform as he always did in the past. His Unchained Melody was the most poignant and heartfelt interpretation of that song. God bless you, Elvis!
He had it all. Looks, so much Talent, a greAt voice. A unique figure from what I have heard about him. He had broad shoulder narrow waist. He had so much humanity and compassion. He had a lot of joy and a sense of humour. He was a beautiful person inside and out. He belonged to everybody and no one. He brought the race relations to music. I wish someone could have helped him from himself and colonel Parker. Parker was an empty man and he had Elvis on a short leash to keep up with Parker’s gambling bets. Parker is one man that I don’t mind saying I hope he’s turning in his grave from being outed in this movie.
You're kinder than I am in hopes for Parker in the afterlife. It's very rare that I ever hate someone at all, but I despise how horribly he treated Elvis and ruined that beautiful, talented, generous man's life to an early grave. 😥
Yes, the drugs did their damage, but at the end of the day, Tom Parker killed Elvis Presley. That poor excuse of a man milked Elvis dry until he had nothing more to give and nothing more to live for. Elvis Presley was a superhero and Tom Parker was his greatest nemesis and the most dastardly of supervillains.
I believe if Elvis had not met Parker he would have realized his fullest potential even more with better movie roles and worldwide concert tours. He may have lived well beyond 42 years. Damn his Daddy and 'friends' for not squelching the ''blood sucking vampire."
Yup, the bloodsucker killed Elvis’ spirit and dreams. He didn’t nurture him or helped him grow. He’d much rather keep him isolated and paranoid working him like a mule. I hope there’s hell and he’s rotting in there.
This was excellent and so was this movie. He was a truly creative artist and his legacy was a deep love of music. More remix of Little Less Conversation is due to the techno realm long before that style but there was some reluctance to let them remix the song because Elvis did not like the idea of technology doing something to the song that he could not do naturally thus leave him unable to sing the it for fans at concerts. Elvis produced all of his own music, had complete creative control inside the studio, he might not have written a lot of his own songs, his versions often had the original artist in such awe of what he did and get it to places the only Elvis could conceive leaving some to never sing it again because Elvis always made a song his own. If people think he stole black music is ridiculous every song comes down to one of a kind voice. However, Elvis influenced every artist that came after him and how we listen to music so his changes are still felt today.
The Hurt I still feel after all these years have softened but will never subside, my friends and family have never Questioned me but still don’t understand his importance in my life? Now today one of my Grandchildren has lost faith with todays Noice she went to see the ELVIS MOVIE after listening to so much of his Music through me playing him all the time- she came back CONVERTED! So now the world has another Fan and I have someone to leave my Collection too! Long live the KING….
The movies and media never fully delve into Elvis Presleys Gospel songs and his most haunting ballads. Offcourse his huge hits were memorable, That's alright, Love me tender, Teddy bear, Jailhouse rock, Lonesome tonight. I love "In The Ghetto" and "Crying in the Chapel". Jesus knows what I need, Take my hand precious Lord 🙏🏼 Mahalia Jacksons signature song. Always on my mind is one of his best songs ever 😍😍

I’ve been an Elvis fan probably since I was born (his music was always playing in my house growing up). I actually had the amazing opportunity to celebrate my Sweet Sixteen at Graceland ❤ I’m 23 now and still love Elvis just as much. Austin Butler truly embodied Elvis and became him in my opinion. This movie made me fall in love with Elvis more, which I didn’t even know was possible! ❤
Yes, I'm a life-long Elvis fan - fell in love with him when I was 12 years-old! He was the best performer ever and I don't believe there will ever be another one to match him. I was lucky enough to see him live the year before he died.
My favorite Elvis songs? All of them but the tops Suspicious minds You gave me a mountain Unchained melody I can’t stop falling in love How great thou art Always on my mind Jailhouse rock Polk salad Annie American trilogy etc….
Elvis is one kind God made child Change the music industrial so here comes Christian he could blues also Country then comes Rock & Roll so Are. Heavenly Father God made A genius in music Thank you God In name our Savior Jesus Christ Amen.🙏🏼
He didht share Elvis souvenirs profits with Elvis. That cost Elvis allot cause it would have been beneficial to Elvis. That’s why I got irritated with parker.
I forget without looking at the list but I think I can't help falling in love with you, Always the song I think about when I think of Elvis also Little Egypt. Hawaiian Wedding Song, Suspicious minds, Blue Christmas, Don't Cry Daddy, Love me tender , Teddy Bear,Return to sender, Viva Las Vegas, and Come on Over from his movie with Ann-Margret. I think I just read where Suspicious minds Was #1. Church songs make it easy. How Great Thou are and It Is No Secret. Amazing Grace.
I think that it is important to note the impact Elvis is making on young kids now which is hugely important for the coming generation for how they perceive the musical industry and stardom. That being said, I also think it is important to note many of the downright false controversies surrounding Elvis that many social media platformers have been spreading about him. First, his relationship with Pricilla. Everyone knows they met when Presley was 24 and she was 14. That in and of itself is strange, but that’s were many people stop. I think it’s appalling that some of these influencers have the audacity to bring this information to the internet and especially to young impressionable people without giving them the proper context. While Elvis did meet her when she was 14 that was about it. He only knew her through her father who was Elvis’ commanding officer. He never did anything with her romantically and it was merely a meet and greet. He wouldn’t meet her again until she was 17 with 16 being the legal age of consent back then. Elvis never asked to see her but she begged her parents and Parker, Elvis’ manager, to see him again. When she was 18 that’s when the two began to hang out together more, but never did anything intimate. They finally decided to officially get together when Pricilla was 21. Elvis never once asked her to do anything that she was uncomfortable with. She clearly states that in all of her interviews that Elvis never took advantage of her or acted in any predatoral way like how most people claim. I think it’s ironic how these young folk who just now have discovered Elvis through the new film think they know everything about Elvis’ life because they watched one film and one UA-cam video . Pricilla herself found no issue with Elvis in the first place and has been on record multiple times stating how professional and caring Elvis was. Legit you can’t make a claim that he’s a predator when you know absolutely nothing about him as a person. Another controversy is the whole “cultural appropriation” thing. I think those people need to take their meds.
@@petermj1098 Elvis did not groom her “since 14”. The only known case of that happening if from Pricilla which at first seems like a creditable source, but when you take into account how often she changes her story and opinion of her late husband you really gotta take what she says with a grain of salt. In her book Elvis and Me she bashes Elvis and says how he groomed her and was very controlling, but according to many if not all of Elvis’ close friends, that was very out of character for him. Another thing worth noting is how many “facts” she states about Elvis’ personality are blatantly false such as the how she said he was a germaphobe but you can clearly see from interviews and videos online that he wasn’t and all of his friends claim he wasn’t the most sanitary person ever. Of course her book made a lot of money for her and she stuck with the story for a long time, but once this new film came out all of sudden she’s commenting how nice and amazing Elvis was as a person to appeal to mass audiences and surly she is getting a cut from the film. If you want a more accurate perspective of The King you should listen to Elvis’ last girlfriend and fiancé Ginger. She has probably one of the most sincere and honest view on Elvis as a person. She doesn’t ignore his issues but doesn’t over blow them like how Pricilla does. Like Pricilla once claimed Elvis gave her sleeping medication in order for her to wake up the exact same time he did in order to control her life, but she was disproven by many of Elvis’ close friends who said Elvis never forced her or even asked her to use the medication he used, she was having trouble sleeping and told him to give her some. It’s little things like that that can alter the appearance of someone drastically. While he probably shouldn’t have given her any, she was already an adult and could make her own decisions. Also on the subject about how he “groomed her since she was 14”, that’s just false. Elvis MET her when she was 14, but merely as a meet and greet as she begged her father who was Elvis’ commanding officer at the time to see the star which he obliged to and the two met but more of just as a celebrity meeting their fan. The two talked for a bit and Elvis soon left and in like a week was already back home in the U.S. She would send him postcards every day begging him to ask her parents if she could come over and visit, but he either ignored those postcards (as he probably had thousands coming in) or he just declined them. It was only that YEARS later that she would meet him again under pressure from the Colonel and his friends to see her to start a relationship which Elvis clearly didn’t want and wasn’t comfortable with. At that time Elvis and Pricilla were just friends which Elvis had noted how she looked a lot like his mother who had passed a couple years before. This made him very vulnerable at that time since he was still struggling with the loss of his mother, which he never really got over, and all he really wanted was a real friend to help him. That’s why the two got so close and even after their divorce talked endlessly because they have both been on record as saying they preferred to be friends rather than lovers. So really if you want to talk about a groomer talk about Colonel Parker who not only groomed Pricilla into marrying Elvis as she was a young impressionable girl, but also Elvis throughout his entire career essentially.
"Hound Dog" was written by Leiber and Stoller - a famous duo who wrote many hits including Jailhouse Rock. The were two white Jewish men. Most people think Elvis took this hit from Big Mama Thornton. Big Mama wrote Ball and Chain later covered by Janis Joplin - sounds like an almost completely different song. Elvis did not want to copy or even make a hit out of it. He decided to give it a fun spin. Leiber and Stoller believed Elvis was a great actor in the making - see King Creole. Col Parker refused to let that happen. Elvis was offered the part of Mike in West Side Story, but because of he social message, refused Elvis for the role. This is where his comeback comes in. After singing If I Can Dream, he didn't want to sing another song, he didn't feel on a deep level. So, in 1969 he put his foot down with Col Parker and insisted on singing a song EVERYBODY turned down - In The Ghetto.
Yes he is my hero and iam now 74 and loved him from when i was 7jrs oud Cant pick a song love all his songs butt when he sings Gospel songs Like WHY ME LORD.andYOU GIVE ME A MOUNTAIN.
Elvis was a gift to us from God. As with any gift you need to cherish it and Elvis had no one to do so. Instead he was treated like a circus animal by Tom Parker. Even race horses have time to rest after a race … but Tom Parker made Elvis perform until he could perform no more. Then Pricilla breaks his heart by leaving him. He may be the King but he still was a man and someone that needed a little tenderness. Wonder if he had someone that cared about him would he still be alive.
Elvis lure 14 year old girls into his bed, was a woman abuser and a drug abuser. if you think Elvis is gods gift. you have set the bar very low. Elvis is as much to blame for the treatment he received from the colonel. he had a mouth he could have said something and or done something but he chose not to, so stop blaming the colonel.. Elvis didn't want to marry Pricilla, this is a well known fact. Elvis started plooking around. Pricilla paid him back by plooking the karate instructor. Who was going to say no to Elvis? YOU?
Actually Tupelo is almost 100 miles from Memphis which takes about 1.75 hours by car. The only way you could get there in 30 minutes is by plane, straight flight no stops.
Wonderful that you covered his Health - The cause of the pills in the FIRST PLACE. Alot of CLUELESS PEOPLE assume he was "overweight " because of cheeseburgers or Peanut butter banana sandwiches 🙄. Elvis quit performing on stage as much because of his MAJOR HEALTH problems. He suffered a Traumatic brain injury (a series of 4 in his lifetime actually). The last one being in 1967. He tripped over a TV cord and hit his head on a porcelain tub and knocked him out for over 6hrs!!! He even seen his Mom talking to him!!! DR Nick was called in immediately and this was before MRI'S!! The most underappreciated factor in the decline of Elvis Presley's health and early death was repeated head trauma. It is now recognized that multiple head trauma can cause an autoimmune inflammatory disorder that can attack any organ in the body. Contemporary terms for the pathologic developments that may occur following head trauma are post-concussion syndrome, TBI, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy. Some of the post-trauma symptoms include memory loss, obsessive-compulsive traits, and irrational or illogical behavior.Elvis demonstrated many of these obsessive-compulsive and erratic behaviors at different times.A retrospective analysis of Elvis' head trauma clearly shows that Presley developed or accelerated his autoimmune inflammatory disease after his most serious head trauma in 1967. His previous bouts of head trauma probably contributed to his deterioration, as multiple head traumas are cumulative in effect. Autoimmunity following TBI has historically been believed to occur as a result of hypothalamic-pituitary dysfunction. A new belief is that head trauma causes brain tissue to be jarred loose, and leak into the general circulation through the blood-brain barrier.²² Brain tissue is not supposed to enter the blood circulation because it is toxic or antigenic to the rest of the body. If this truly occurs, and this author believes it does, it acts like an infectious agent or vaccine in that it causes antibodies to form. These antibodies then become "auto" and start attacking normal tissue. It's even possible these abnormal antibodies attack and further damage the brain.Elvis clearly had a disease process that had affected multiple organs-stomach, liver, spine, and eyes-but at the time, his physicians had no idea that he might have had a progressive autoimmune inflammatory disorder. The concept of autoimmunity was just starting to be understood. Much to his credit, Dr. Nick gave Elvis the diagnosis of post-concussion syndrome, and believed his headaches were a result of his head injury of 1967. Dr. Nick related to me that, "Elvis was never the same after he hit his head in 1967."Dr. Nick prescribed only two of the many drugs found in his serum. What no one knew at the time was that some drugs, particularly opioids, may interfere with cardiac conduction and cause a fatal, sudden heart stoppage from cardiac arrhythmia. The most notorious example is torsades de pointes, a prolongation of the QT interval, which may occur when opioids and other drugs are taken together. This toxic reaction will most likely occur in a patient with existing heart disease. I now believe that Elvis' death was partially due to codeine, because he had obtained codeine from a dentist the day before his death. He took several tablets and had a serum level 10 times the therapeutic range.Just a few weeks before his death, Elvis became ill while touring in Louisiana. He developed nausea and symptoms of intestinal flu. He also had pulled a hamstring and strained his back. He entered Baptist Memorial Hospital for the fourth and last time on April 1, 1977. Anemia was found along with his chronic hepatitis, lung disease, glaucoma, hypertension, and megacolon.
Thank you , & I agree with you , I have looked up his head injuries a few yrs back, & it's been said that this was the cause of his death. Thank you , May God Bless.
Correct about the autoimmune disease, and also he had some rare genetic disease affecting the liver and eyes, just like his mother and several uncles who had it and passed away at an early age...
When you need drugs to keep performing because you are exhausted and passing out. It’s called take a break. But no the Colonel, kept contracts coming left and right. He was an asset, money maker, so keep pushing😡. It would have been nice if Elvis hadn’t given away so much. Saved some for the times he needed rest. Blame goes all around. His health was horrible, in part a family inheritance, as Ben and Lisa were also addicted. For some the genes Of depression, heart diseases, addiction are passed one. It doesn’t matter, they were people we love and always will. I just pray the three daughters don’t follow this path. Dear LORD give them the strength they need to endure and prosper. Love you Lisa and Elvis❤🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
CORRECTION: It was Elvis's manager Col. Parker who DID NOT want Elvis to record it because of it's social message. Elvis is the one who insisted on recording it, and that he intended on making it a hit. If you truly know his upbringing in Tupelo, MI and subsequent fourteen homes his family would be batted around in due to extreme poverty, you will know he lived in the middle of the Black section of town. He moved into the Ghetto of Memphis government housing. Sammy refused the song because he could not resonate with it "It wasn't my upbringing but, I can tell you who can resonate with it.... " History was made.
BULLSHIT!!! Sammy refused it not because it didn't resonate. he refused because wtf is a white guy doing giving a black man a song to sing about the ghetto. wtf does a white guy know 1. what it's like to be black and 2 be black and live in the ghetto. he then said give to that white boy Elvis.
Maybe you should read " Destined to die young". Elvis had MAJOR health problems from birth. There is WAY more to that story. His mom, Grandma Doll & 6 of his 8 uncles all died in their 40's. He took perscriptions to deal with his Genetic health problems, his enlarged paralyzed colon, Glaucoma, Antitrypsin Deficiency, a condition which can result in lung and/or liver disease both of which he had severely at the time of his death. Elvis was never a smoker or drinker. He had Together with the immune system disorder, hypogammaglobulinemia, which plagued Elvis all his life and caused him to constantly fight various infections. His “inherited” weak heart, reactive arthritis, and the impact of his nocturnal lifestyle, resulting in a lack of vitamin D, the effects of which contributed to respiratory infections, reduced immune function, and inflammation. Of the 11 bodily systems that operate to keep us alive and hopefully healthy. Critically, Elvis suffered disease or disorder in nine of them! And five were present from birth and pre his fame. His heart (circulatory system), his lungs (respiratory system), and his bowels (digestive/excretory systems) required medication. Insomnia affected his nervous system……His immune system was compromised. His urinary system was not functioning properly. At one point there was even talk of dialysis. Often he is dismissed as just another rock ‘n’ roll drug addict. He wasn't taking street drugs. He was taking perscriptions not to "ESCAPE" h was taking them to try to maintain some sense of normalcy as himself in a time where the medical field was limited. No DNA, Genetics, No MRI's, little known about the addiction, his dystrophy & No understanding of Vitamin D even. Looking at the illnesses and disorders, that mounted upon each other over the decades, it’s no coincidence that Elvis’ prescription drug use increased as his health declined. From ear infections to chronic tonsilitis to recurrent flus to eye infections and glaucoma…..these arguably insignificant ailments independently, grew into something more. As his body broke down, alongside multiple immune system disorders and genetic complications, prescription medication and his handy PDR tried to fill the gaps. When that no longer worked, hospital stays became the norm and his list of ailments grew. The sicker he got, the more prescriptions he was prescribed. He was seeing a cardiologist before he bought Graceland. He was 20yrs old. They have gone through Elvis's entire life of medical records & now have an entire different story now. This is all the facts Geraldo & 20/20 never stated.
Well -- he sure was a good looking, talented man. He loved his fans so much!! There just was no one else like Elvis and he will always be very special to me!!

@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 That's the racism of that era. Most don't even realize black male artist couldn't even put their photos on album covers back then due to racism. They believe it would attract white women to black men and they were against that.
I Love his comeback at 1968 with his leather suits, so perfect, the best !!
For real!!! His comeback special was the best and Tom Parker; I also believe, held Elvis back!! That man had no right taking half of money!
Hound Dog, Surrender, Return To Sender, Heartbreak Hotel, Jailhouse Rock, and other Elvis Presley songs are still awesome. 🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🥁🥁🎸🎸🎸

@@antonsvensson5182 Thank you so much! I wanted to go listen to it but I couldn't think of the name for nothing!

Exactly ❤
金子總會發光,集美貌與才華於一身的Elvis,如果沒有殺雞取卵的經紀人,Elvis的發展應該會更好,如果沒有經紀人的壓迫剝削,Elvis也不會英年早逝。
the movie shows it all... it is so painful!!
"Elvis is not dead. He just went home".
For sure

That made me tear up. Love my boy!
He sure did. Ever hear of the WOW-signal? Well that came in on Aug 15th , 1977. Less than a day later , Elvis was gone...went home ^ ^

Elvis groomed Pricilla though since she was 14. Grooming doesn't start with sexual at first.
You got some things wrong here but whatever
Priscilla never knew her dad she was a baby when he died her stepfather was her father figure he was not Elvis's commanding officer
Yes im a elvis fan

I'm Elvis's #1 Fan
So, in 1969 he put his foot down with Col Parker and insisted on singing a song EVERYBODY turned down - In The Ghetto.
why did everybody turn it down? lets start with Sammi Davis shall we?

The Memphis Flash: ⚡ Elvis Presley
Love him always!
I agree. Great family and good parents!
YOU?
Tupelo is like 30 mins from Memphis, and let me tell y’all Beale St is amazing!! I lived in tupelo for years.

Love this video!

His health was horrible, in part a family inheritance, as Ben and Lisa were also addicted. For some the genes Of depression, heart diseases, addiction are passed one. I love Elvis Presley!!!! So Much, his manager Tom Parker was selfish and a devil!!
Elvis allowed it to happen
the Elvis music list was ok....but you missed his gospel side...he could really do it so well...

Wow I’ve thought my whole life that willie Nelson wrote always on my mind….I was wrong🥴😌
I'm reading it now!
