Alright... I just came across this video. I asked my husband if he’d like a jalapeño cheddar loaf of bread. Well, I guess I’m on my way to the market for ingredients! It’s President’s Day and I need something to do on a holiday during a pandemic!
Our first time making jalapeno cheddar bread, we also used shredded cheese and you're totally right it just melted right into the bread. A whole block of cheese basically disappeared and we were devastated. Chunks of cheese is the way to go!
I love jalapeno cheese bread. Where we used to live in Southeast Texas, we had a barbecue restaurant that served this bread with their BBQ plates. So good. Yours looks pretty close except I think they put their braid into large loaf pans to bake. I’ve been looking for a good recipe for this bread. Please post a written recipe.🙂
Maci, just found your videos & we love this recipe. Have made & devoured several loaves in 2 weeks. QUESTION!! Can I substitute artichoke & a different cheese? Should I do anything differently in the recipe?
First off I apologize for the late response. I want to know if you made the substitution. I am intrigued with the idea of adding artichokes. What if it were a play on spinach artichoke dip?? Instead of cheddar you use mozzarellas and add garlic??? I would say you don't need to change the recipe as long as you cook out some water in the artichokes. Hmmm...I may need to try that myself. Best Wishes. Thanks for the view and comment.

Sonya Diaz Sonya Diaz if you currently have active yeast there will not be any difference in the amount. The main difference between active and instant yeast is the way you have to prep it. Active yeast has to be “activated” by a warm liquid and does best when given something to eat in order to release carbon dioxide. Instant yeast can be added directly to the dough. (But you can also add it to a warm liquid) The only change I have ever seen in my quick breads when making a yeast substitute, has been rise. You may need to increase the rise time by a few min if using active. However, with the cheddar jalapeño bread I have not seen a noticeable difference. www.google.com/amp/s/www.thekitchn.com/whats-the-difference-between-active-dry-yeast-and-instant-yeast-54252%3famp=1 The above reference has some really great info! I have used this link in the past to better understand yeast. Thank you so much for watching!!

I'm in UK and haven't found fresh jalapenos here so I fried off a bog standard chilli then used pickled jalapenos that I dried on paper towels to get rid of excess moisture. Worked a treat. I also bypassed the braiding bit as I'm not very artistic . End result was delicious!
Can this be made with oat flour instead of white flour? For health reasons, I grind up rolled oats in the blender for recipes calling for flour, and I'm wondering if that can still work for this recipe.
Holly R. Hello! I have never personally used oat flour or substituted for all purpose. However, the references I have found suggest you can with a 3:1 ratio. Most people seem to say you would need a bit more yeast! If you decide to make the substitution I would love to hear how it goes. www.livestrong.com/article/557742-baking-with-oat-flour-vs-wheat-flour/ Here is a reference I found with some more info.
@@macicooks1707 hello and ty for the quick reply! I am currently trying out this recipe using ground up oats, and doubling the amount of yeast. I'll see how it turns out later today. :)
KillaKubano for this recipe I do not. Typically I do add sugar to the yeast mixture in order to help it activate. For this bread, however, I did not care for the addition of sugar. I use Instant yeast for this bread and have found that it works perfectly without sugar. Feel free to add at your discretion. Some of my viewers have mentioned that they enjoyed the addiction of sugar! Best wishes, thanks for viewing.

I am new to using UA-cam so where do I find the recipe
Can you use pickled jalapeno?
Maybe if you dry them first. When I tried, the whole bread came out weird and green. It was baked well but the flavor wasn’t good :/
I'm in UK and haven't found fresh jalapenos here so I fried off a bog standard chilli then used pickled jalapenos that I dried on paper towels to get rid of excess moisture. Worked a treat. I also bypassed the braiding bit as I'm not very artistic . End result was delicious!
Awesome video with humor and great instructions detailing process. THANK YOU. Now let's see if I can replicate. 🍞 🧀 🌶
I wonder if pickled jalapeños would work?
I’m sure they absolutely would!
Can I use a yeast replacer instead of yeast?
Do you preheat your oven? And at what temp?
How long will this last? Do you refrigerate it?
Thats a solid question. I've never had it last long enough to find out. Haha. I would absolutely pop it in the fridge.
Is there an alternate for the milk ?
Are you adding any sugar to the milk and water mixture?
KillaKubano for this recipe I do not. Typically I do add sugar to the yeast mixture in order to help it activate. For this bread, however, I did not care for the addition of sugar. I use Instant yeast for this bread and have found that it works perfectly without sugar. Feel free to add at your discretion. Some of my viewers have mentioned that they enjoyed the addiction of sugar! Best wishes, thanks for viewing.
Recipe please
Is there any way to get this recipe without going through the video and writing it down?
