Great America was better than Disney for me. I grew up in Pleasanton in the 70’s. Meeting the Looney Tune characters was a highlight. There was a root beer shop that sold frosty mug root beers for a dime! A dime! And I know this has been renamed, but the Turn of the Century was my favorite coaster, after I conquered my fear of it. 😂 ❤❤ Thanks for the memories!

Ive been living in california for 7 years now and still havent ventured to CGA or Knotts yet, but will for the 2025 season
The Demon is not technically an original coaster from the opening of the park. It started its’ life as Turn of the Century. Several years after the park opened, the first 2 loops and The Demon theming was added.

Nah its so bumpy and not fast at all. It was my fav in 3rd grade but now its really slow and boring.

I went on a school field trip and the grizzly was the first one I dent on thinking it was easy😳biggest mistake of my life I forgot how to breath😭 lmao still that was Theo bay rollser coaster I went on and I went on it 3 times and everytime forgot how to breath😭

Kinda sad to see G.A. go down. I was there last weekend and the fun experience is gone! I grew up in SJ and worked at the park for 7 years, I have many memories tied to the park but my recent trip made me sad to see that the charm is gone. There wasn't ice for drinks so hot sodas on 90+ degree day, the food was burnt, no music playing in the park or lots of vendors all over, and the stores don't have the merch they used to. Seems like the mgmt stopped trying to provide good service and are going through the motions until it closes.
I hear you, some things just definitely aren't as fun or magical as it was when you experienced it as a kid. One thing that's definitely not well maintained, and is super frustrating, is the arcade! So much money wasted and not enough staff to properly service it. It's a shame. A bigger theme park company would have to buy and invest to really bring it back to it's prime.
For thrill rides I got 5 drop tower 4 patriot 3 flight deck 2 gold striker 1 railblazer (by far)

Just gonna throw it out there, the titles gold striker holds are not true. It’s ghost rider at 130 ft tall and the speed is not like gs but still taller. Just saying

@hellokimmay lol! I was ride maintenance there for over a decade. I was heavily involved in the conversion from vortex becoming patriot. That primarily happened because the trains had "expired" and needed to be replaced. Flight deck isn't too far off.

Gold Striker isn't the fastest and tallest in California
It's Ghostrider at Knott's Berry Farm.
Gold Striker is 108 feet tall with a 103 foot drop and 53.7 mph while Ghostrider is 118 feet tall with a 108 foot drop and 56 mph

Great question, they didn't renew their long term lease. But they recently merged with six flags - so I have no idea what's going to happen now. But you got a few more good years left in that park at least
