Interesting fact: the beginning of this is the version of Piper that is on the album Farmhouse. They spliced the first part of this with a studio recording and put it on the album, so if you listen to the album version you can hear the crowd, then you hear the crowd noise kind of die out; that's when the studio portion of it picks up---if anyone's interested.
was at these shows--did a little four night run between these shows and the 2 prior in jersey. good times. great times! zeniths! oswego was veeeeeeerrrrrry hot. like 105 degrees. that part was rough. Ate a delicious, powerful, perfect, gooball:) got an icculus and a quinn--c'mon son! And if you're into acoustic/bluegrass types of music, which I am, then having Mr. Del McCoury and his band there--well, that was quite the treat:))))))
Today's heat here in NY reminded me of the temps on that tarmac during the day. The thermometer in my buddies camper was in the Death Valley zone. Sweet times though. Thanks for the memories.
@@jez443I would strongly urge you to dig through the archives. There are numerous other Pipers that do what Oswego does but more interestingly. I think this one suffers from attendance and availability bias - the number of people who saw it and the availability of the SBD give it more visibility. For instance, I find 9/27/00 and 12/8/99 to be massively more interesting musically. This is a fine Piper, don’t get me wrong - but it’s very typical and standard for it’s time period. 10/2/99 is sick too, and part of one of my favorite second sets with a killer Tweezer -> On Your Way Down. We agree on SPAC tho - untoppable.
@@Gumbo72203 From my perspective, I'm interested in the music, I'm more interested in the energy. I was there, was raw, and blew your socks off in a way no other Piper has done...My opinion, sticking to it.
That razor sharp energy and creativity kept up for that long is why they are one of a kind.
This festival was in Oswego NY but it felt like it was held on the surface of the sun.
ya those sunrises
I got parked adjacent to the tarmac, no ez up, sun was so brutal. I hid from the sun most of the day and stayed up most of the nights.
