Marianne said the song is about a Car accident and the need to dumb the pain and NOT about addiction..Ive done Morphine and Smack and Coke and Opium and many other combos, plus Booze but Ive been clean and sober since 1985 and today its Feb 2024... This song truly captures the essence of such a high, or low, if you wish, I can taste it as she sings it.
I know there's a reference to "Cousin Cocaine", but I can't stop thinking that a "sister" is the same thing as a head nurse in the UK given the sickness morphine can produce.
Sorry for me to believe that sister morphine on sticky fingers is unrecognizable or people don't know it For me it's probably 1 of their best songs ever So there you go
Sticky fingers was my favourite Rolling Stones album.
This is a classic. The bottleneck and other guitar riffs play a "death boogie" that is among the Stones most dramatic pieces.
Addiction runs rampant in my family. This is a haunting dirge for all our lost loved ones.
Rolling Stones Classic Great Music
Thanks just terrific! Thank you for the fun.

But when you're playing the Stones version in this clip, it's not the Sticky Fingers version. It's the 1968 outtake version.(Besides the live clip).
I like The Stones’ version much better than Marianne’s.

Marianne wrote the lyrics. Keith and mick wrote the music.
It was Faithful who wrote it, the Stones made it a rock song. Ry Cooder finished it and gave the riffs to so many Stones early 70’s songs.
@@alexbowman7582 Did he get royalties for his riffs ?
