Karpov was under such a severe stress that he lost 15 pounds over the last week. Credit to him, because after the 3 losses that tied the match, he obtained his sixth win.
When score become 5-5 before 32th game there is suspicion theory that Korchnoi second Keane sold information to the soviet team that Korchnoi will play Pirc opening. At 45:10 body language experts do Karpov looks suprised seeing such rare move in WC match ? or his body reaction is like he knew it ? Because decent chess players knows first move 1....d6 is bad and is played only as possible suprise factor for one game
The usual ridiculous stuff of the past when you can't beat your opponent over the board, you make up all sorts of stupid stories. The bottom line Karpov beat Kortchnoi in all their matches and was stronger than him.
@@alejandrojimenezdelaserna7995 Kudos to both, because after the 3 losses that tied the match, Karpov showed mental strength and obtained his sixth win. Viktor immediately took a plane from Manila to Hong Kong, then to Argentina all over the Pacific Ocean to lead the Swiss Team at the Olympiad in Buenos Aires 3 days later AND win Gold Medal in First Board with 7 wins, defeating Tony Miles, Kavalek, and Torre !
Not in Baguio. That match was very balanced (5-5 After 31 games) and the russians played a terribile psychological war against Korchnoi. He lost only because he overreacted to their tricks and provocations. Karpov was clearly the best player only in Merano and, in that match, russians didn't need tricks, obviously.
Phenomenal video!
Historical footage ... so cool !!
¡Espectacular!
¡Gracias por mostrar estos de ajedrez que son una joya!
