I love how that turned out and I'm sure Vicki and Sherlock were thrilled with it!!! Using the black Starbond really added a decorative touch to it. That was a great idea!
Thanks for carving text without a CNC! They are cool tools, but not everybody can afford them. Other than picking up a couple of router bits, I can use the tools in my garage shop to do this. You have another subscriber!!!!
Thanks so much, we really appreciate the sub and the kind words. Happy you found us and like what we do. If I can answer any specific questions for you just let me know. My direct email is eric@makeawoodsign.com.
That is SO beautiful! You guys are just amazing, what a gift you both have from God! Gotta keep Vicki happy 🤣 and love the song by Will Harrison, Headin Downtown…..I really like his music! Love and miss you guys, God bless! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Cool video and a great idea on expanding out to different projects (especially with making the templates for sale). I also loved the shout out you got from 731 woodworks yesterday on the router plates!
That's nice, I like the black ends it makes it stand out as well as the inside black superglue, my Wife has wanted on as well, coming soon. also if you have a pilot light for the burners be carful, fire and wood don't like each other
Absolutely Love how y'alls turned out💖 These was big sellers for me but I didn't make my handles and back splash like y'all did, I just bought my handles but I definitely will be buying y'alls templates because I Absolutely Love this look expecially with the resin..Great Video💖
Hey GiGI, great to hear from you❤. Happy you liked this... We were all happy with how this turned out (especially Sherlock 😂) Thank you so much. Big Hugs from me and Vicki ❤❤❤
It's a lot more about the width of the cut than the depth. Because most of our bits ar V groove, the deeper you cut, the wider the cut. We use our depth gauge which you can get here makeawoodsign.com/products/router-bit-depth-gauge?_pos=1&_psq=depth&_ss=e&_v=1.0 to determine how deep we're going. Generally, we try to stay right about 1/4" except for the carving liner which can only cut 1/8" at a time.
Just got asked to make a NB, but nobody does it with the carving. Except y’all of course! Couldn’t see doing this if it didn’t have some sort of design carved into it. I blame that on y’all! 😜. Any concern with the resin pooling up in the corners where the wood meets, or does it level out pretty good? Thanks as always, y’all are the best!
If you mean sanding sealer, we find that just a couple coats of clear coat works just as well and it doesn't take as long to dry. Plus it's easier to find than the sanding sealer
@@oldave100 I am new to your channel and really appreciate your way of teaching. I do not make signs but I do inlays on keepsake boxes. I am trying a freehand router after watching a few of your videos. I am limited to available poly patterns and want to use some of my own. When you say “clear coat “. What are you using? Or what video should I look for? Thank you “@thehikingwoodeorker
Thanks so much for watching and the nice compliments. For fast clear coat we just use a spray lacquer. The one we use most often is Rustolium clear spray can. If I can answer any other questions for you please let me know, eric@makeawoodsign.com
I put noodles on them .... and I got the strangest look from everyone.... aparently no one else knows the answer either .. seemed obvious to me by the name ....I think I must be mistaken.
I've been asked by multiple people to make one of these, but I've yet to follow through. Any concern on the safety of these? Especially on a gas stove? I fear someone burning their house down.

Thank you Greg ❤. Yeah it was so cool how Matt gave us a great promo.
I love that guy.

Nice work! I’ve made a few noodle boards but not like this. Really like I you incorporated what you do best
Thank you Tom ❤
Great job! What determines the depth you carve out? Whats the deepest youve carved out in a sign?
It's a lot more about the width of the cut than the depth. Because most of our bits ar V groove, the deeper you cut, the wider the cut. We use our depth gauge which you can get here makeawoodsign.com/products/router-bit-depth-gauge?_pos=1&_psq=depth&_ss=e&_v=1.0 to determine how deep we're going. Awesome video ( as always ) ... the black was a great idea for the space.. any idea what you could sell those for in your area?
Haven't really researched that. I would think $150 ish....
😂😂😂 as long as the board is level, it should flow just fine. You might have to mess with it a little bit but not too much
Love this! What font(s) did you use? Thanks for another great video!
Thank you Miss Gayle ❤
Beautiful! How much would that sell for?
It depends on where you're at, how much carving you're doing, and what kind of wood. In our situation, probably about $125 ish
What kind or type of wood did you use? I noticed what looked like rabbits on the ends. Thanks
This was Blue Pine shiplap from home depot. We didn't use any rabbits on this project
Hey that Awesome what kind of resin did you use And did you use it to fill in the carving
Thank you James ❤ We used "Super Gloss" brand resin, love it. The black was just our normal black spray primer. Then a flood coat of resin.
Did you apply epoxy to the side rails of this board as well as the base?, If so, how did you accomplish that?
Yes we did. Vicki and I just moved it around with our hands. See the 12:28 mark in the video. Thank you Gary ❤
Just wondering why you do not use sanding shellac
If you mean sanding sealer, we find that just a couple coats of clear coat works just as well and it doesn't take as long to dry. Plus it's easier to find than the sanding sealer

That's what I said too...

Brill
Thank you my friend ❤
I've been asked by multiple people to make one of these, but I've yet to follow through. Any concern on the safety of these? Especially on a gas stove? I fear someone burning their house down.
I would not put it o a stove that has a constant pilot light. Our is gas but it's electric pilot start.
😮😮😮😮😮😮👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you buddy ❤
not often you wear gloves when carving, COLD
Yep, not my favorite time of year....
DAH. Maybe I should read a little farther and I would find the answer. Sorry
