I bet you probably do have some practical uses for this. Imagine walking home late at night in the dark and wanting to know who's around you, or when your camping, when your hunting, I have soooooo many practical serious uses for this thing.
It would have been nice to see the range of the sensor outside.
Indoor tests are cool but I need to see this used outdoors at night
Personally, I prefer Infiray P2 , T2L or T2 Search. They offer you higher IR resolution 256 * 192 at frame rates 24fps , more minimal design, independ from dedicated battery and importantly it's cheaper this one at least 1/2 price. ^_^

I have been using the Seek Thermal camera for a couple of years and it is fantastic! (The Fleer has better resolution.) I use it to do energy audits to weatherproof my home, and they are just a ton of fun just for entertainment. I just posted a UA-cam video today that uses the IR camera to examine the heated and cooled seats on my Mustang, if you want to take a look.
You can use it in a bank to get peoples credit card codes them rob their card and cash out
Flir actualy has a resolution of 160 × 120 pixels. I don't know which Seek you are using but the Seek Thermal has a 320x240 resolution.
I've had another brand for several years. The first thing I did was find drafts and heat loss areas...then found all the vampire power devices around my house.
This is why I want one.
I work in a power plant and there are many processes involving the flow of heat, from the boiler, to heat exchangers etc. I am going to purchase this piece of equipment for the great amount of insight it could provide.

Hi Ben, great device and thanks for the review! What is the furthest distance between the Flir and a human/animal before being unable to see the radiant heat of it? Might be useful to see an unwanted friend in the dark.
I'm not certain of the exact distance, but it was picking up heat signatures of houses a couple hundred feet away. Lower resolution needs to be considered as well

This camera has battery problems. The LIPO battery needs to be kept charged or else it self-discharges and dies. It is not easily replaced. I've gone through 3 cameras and FLIR won't repair them.

This camera doesn’t have batteries- it is powered from the lightening connector

Took this on a paranormal investigation! No spirit’s caught on cam. However, it was cool to be able to see the dark abandoned sanatorium in this way. 😁

How about Hikvision H10 handheld thermal carmera? it has 160*120 resolution and 25 framerate, I just bought it under $300. but it has no standard visual camera🤔
This is so cool.. but they should of had it with for both iOS and android devices with one purchase, with a replaceable connector..

Hi, would it be possible to see how the thermal camera performs during real-world night-time outdoor recording with eg a dog running about in long grass or snow? I’m thinking of getting a thermal camera, either to plug in to a phone or built into the phone itself, so that I can keep better tabs on my dog on walks in grass and woodland and to see where he is in my yard, and if he’s done the toilet recently. But looking at reviews I can’t determine if it’s worth it.
Each product seems to have reviews which range from: ‘you can see animals easily in the dark from about 100 metres away or more’ - which would be great- to: ‘it’s a useless toy and you struggle to see a steaming cup of coffee 3 metres away’.
Would it be possible to have some user performed night time footage?

Kind of comical that the reviewer and most comments treat the device as a toy. Nobody mentions how useful it would be if you are looking at buying or renting a house, or renovating your home to save energy and reduce costs. You could check out your car to see if there are hot spots in the brakes or tires. Not every device is a game.
I do plumbing. So I wonder if I want to find a steam leak in the ground will that gadget will be able to spot the leak right away?
