Wow it is a shame that I have been here in Salzburg for 6 months in intership at KISKA, and I've never had the courage of going up the Eagles Nest... I climbed Rossfeld, Gaisberg, Trattberg few times but the Eagles Nest looked way to steep for me at the time. The view on the valley is beautiful thanks to your drone shots and we can fill the history behind these roads ! We don't see it in the video but you must have a insane view on the Koenigsee lake down the way right ? Well I love these videos, keep them coming, especially those around Salzburg, I feel nostalgic right now aha. Cheers !
hurry up and do it! You can still do it before the big snow comes. I think this weekend looks like a good time to do it! hit me up on instagram if you would ever like to ride.
@@johnbraynard6130 It would be a pleasure but my internship was last year aha 😅 now I am back in France. But I will try to comeback one day for sure, it is a superbe place to ride a bike ! Have fun and congrats on your wedding !
Great video John! I was there as a tourist about 7 years ago and the place was completely packed. You're so lucky to have it to yourself. After seeing this I'll have to go back to cycle it!
John I`m come to Salzburg the 29 of Sept 2022 .I`ll be riding one easy day and one hard as in 5000 to 6000 ft max. Which rides do you suggest ? I`ll then be leaving to do the Alp - Adria with a detour Of the Mangart and Socci river valley Slovenia.. Another 2 question is what width tires would you run and is there a route from Udine Italy to the Dolomites ? Thanks so much
The Kehlsteinhaus aka "the eagle's nest" is one of my favourite places.I love to ride it up and down the signed path However I'd like to mention that it is forbidden ( 24/7 all year long) to ride up or down the road that the busses rides. People got in big trouble for trying this, you were lucky this time...
hey awesome! Yes I've done it many many times. If you go at the right time (when the road is closed for the year) it is not really a problem. There are not buses or people even driving up to it. I think it comes down to the right time. Obviously doing it in the middle of a summer day is a bad idea....
Awesome video quality! I love the vibe and music. Unfortunately I never made it up there since it used to be only open for a few days in autumn. Now due to construction it is only possible on weekends but probably already too late in the year. Hope next year is the same! Short question: what tires did u use? Standard road bike?
amazing buddy, incredible video, I'm actually going to Salzburg in July this year, and planed to bike there exactly same you did, may I ask how many hours took you from Salzburg to top of mountain and back to Salzburg? I know it's 30km but considering slowing down uphill, ....., I will be using a mountain bike, no restriction all the way to the Eagle's nest with bike?
So cool!
Great stuff mate! Congratulations on the wedding too!

Bam! I'm overdue to climb this!
Did you climb it?
Cool spot !!! Jeezz
Great vid. Why didnt u ride exclusively the mainroad (where the buses go?)
Because the old road is funner and a unique experience.

6-7 hours it will take you. Keep in mind the mainroad is illegal to ride on. You must ride on it after the house shuts down in the late afternoon.
@@johnbraynard6130 thanks very much for the helpful information
