    It's only fitting that there was a 6 mile gap requiring hitch-hiking in Gap, Pennsylvania

    12:12 I traveled around Europe "on the thumb". If you ever have the need to hitchhike again remember the following. Only use signs if you need to go long distance, without a sign you are signalling local destination. If a sign is used, a paper with some pencil scribbles is not helping you. Cardboard and black/blue marker is your go to. Do not use red marker (Psychological, red is danger). Stand with confidence and just stick out your thumb as if you are giving the thumbs up but with your hand almost flat palm up. Do not force an expression on your face, be you. If you approach the driver and it doen't feel right, go with your gut feeling. Always carry something to be able to defend yourself, this can be as simple as your keys in a strategic location for easy access (keys can be very useful for defence ;) )
    15:30 You sound like a Dutchman, you sure you are not a Dutchman? Dutch ancestry perhaps?

    Cows and sheep! Yay! Hitchhiking is shared transit. Isn't shared transit your mission in life? I appreciate your taking the $1 cheaper transit option even though it takes longer. You said you received two free bags of pretzels and bought a bunch at a reduced cost. I wish you'd compared/ calculated the cost per bag of pretzels to determine if the trip paid for itself in some small way. Like the savings on pretzels overall reduced the cost of transit. It looked like an overall enjoyable adventure. How about taking public transit to every Hanover in America? Like Hanover, MN! Also, and I can't possibly emphasize this enough, thank you for minding your nose hair hygiene (NHH). Some videos are impossible to watch due to poor NHH. Thanks for sharing!

    Harrisburg, York, and Lancaster should really look into getting some kind of light interurban rail service between them. I could totally see some kind of Fall-foliage themed livery Stadler DMU linking the communities together.

    You’re out in my area! Wish I would known about your channel way back then, I totally would have given you a ride.
    Oh, btw, you totally pronounced “Caln” correctly.

    How did you figure out the buses to return to Philadelphia?

      Pretty much just checking the system map of each system and figuring out which routes go where I want to go.

    Rewatching this on the RRTA 17. Is this peak transit?

    Do you have return fares that are cheaper than two singles?

    • @MilesinTransit
      @MilesinTransit  Рік тому +1

      Not for any of the systems featured here. It's kind of a rarity in the US outside of flying honestly! On Amtrak, for example, a round trip ticket is just a one-way x2.

    • @TransportGeekery
      @TransportGeekery Рік тому

      @@MilesinTransit that’s poor. Do you even have “rover” tickets you can use to make unlimited rides in a given system during a certain period?

    • @MilesinTransit
      @MilesinTransit  Рік тому +6

      A lot of systems have timed unlimited passes, like one day or one week. None of the ones in this video have passes that would've been economical for this trip, but some systems conveniently have day passes that are the cost of two one-way journeys!
