Not sure on yhe DI due to the way the carbon will build up in the springs. Kinda like the FM. But I do like this and the way it uses off the shelf parts.

Maybe, I like it for simple compatibility with every other AR part on the market.

I'm not sure of the viability of having shortened the distance between the bolt and end of the stock to the point that you need an 18 inch barrel. But if it can be done reliably then it would be wonderful to get 18 inches of barrel in a minimum overall length rifle.
