Hi, well mixed feelings to see the distruction of the buildings on Collins Island. My self and family built the first shed, that's the one with the rounded roof, and three years building the airstrip. Hand shoveled over 400tons of gravel for top dressing. We owned all the oyster leases on all the islands, 14 of them, involving 800 acres of natural rock oysters. The island has had several owners since we left a d the last owner hung himself in our old shed. There is a big story involving the lease and who is going to clean up the island. So safe sailing and have enjoyed your efforts. Jan and Al.
Great vidio Norm as usual . We are currently in Strahan Tasie the weather done here is terrible if its not blowing 50 knots its raining and the wind chill is ice so watching your videos at night warms us up . by for now
Really enjoyed the video. Round Rock looks like an interesting anchorage. You referenced a book by Neil Patrick. I can’t find it online. Could you possibly provide a lead? Cheers, Tony. 😊
Hi Norm, I seem to remember you have two Nanni 4.38 shaft drive diesels in PeggyAnn. We have one Nanni 4.38 shaft drive in our boat. Could you pls tell us what rpm's you settle on for your cruising which seems to achieve around 6 knots Love your videos, great boat too. thanks mate. Geoff Reichelt
Yeah Geoff. My motors are Kubota V2203 mairinised by Diecon, when they were around. Not sure how that compares to the 4.38 which I'm sure is a Kubota engine. I run them at 200rpm for about 5.5kts. Sail gives me a knot or two.
Hey Norm, do you have any backup systems when you go on land and investigate an island? It struck me that if either of you had an accident and there's no one around, what would you do? Also, what if your electric outboard malfunctioned. How would you get back to the boat? As a novice (total virgin) I would love to know your thinking. CHEERS!

Thanks for sharing your story. It is a shame to see the island so run down. That's a lot of oyster leases.
Thanks Norm. Great video Dude

Brrrrr. Loving the warm weather up here. Thanks for watching Dudes
Nice to explore the airbase.
Not sure about airbase. It was really just an airstrip.
Thanks for the advice on anchorages as you head south.
Glad it helps. Thanks for watching.
Cheers
Thanks for watching Dude.

Yep. It's called Cruising The Curtis Coast. Think it's still in print.
Thanks Norm. Much appreciated. Enjoyed the live feed from GKI. 👍🏻😊
I couldn’t handle that speed
Gentleman's cruising pace Dude.
@@MotorSailingforOldDudes As I get older I also like to slow down and enjoy my surroundings.
