  • If I want to be more effective & profitable, I have to be very selective as to which projects I take on. This means that I might have to refuse some of my favorite project types.

Huge fan of all your content! How do you handle scheduling projects? Let's say you're in the middle of a branding project doing a logo and website, and then someone asks you about a website (the budget is good). Do you just say you can but you can't start until a few weeks? Do you take it and outsource?

    Focus to scale. I agree.

One important report. Take time and add subtitles to your videos. Most of the time you speak without showing some images or motion texts as others do. I feel like I need some subtitles here. It will make an effect like the viewer is reading a book. Moreover, this way you will build a stronger connection and perception between the audience and the videos. The rest of it is AMAZING. Thanks for the good energy you share through your videos

I’m in a major freelance slump now. I have no clients and it’s been rough. I’ve reached out to prior clients to no avail and had a few new ones fall through. I’m having a rough time really garnering traction, as in getting more clients and clients with bigger budgets.

Hey Robert, I have been there also. What I am trying to do to fix this issue is to simply get in front of more people. For years I was a recluse working from home and barely getting out. Now I am trying to go to networking events and get face to face with people more. It has been getting better by doing this. Wish you luck.

ROBERTO OROZCO I feel you man... I'm coming from the same place, solopreneurship can be hard at times but if you can find your way through, when things get a bit tough, you are only going to get stronger and more knowledgeable. It seems counterintuitive at first but during this period just try to stay focused on your craft, create and document your process on social media and remember to advertise only the kind of work you'd like to be hired to do. Try to keep your focus on one or two niche markets and just create spec work reflecting your specialty (eg logo design or web design etc...) do it daily say for 30days and I guarantee you are going to get some kind of result, at least some fresh portfolio pieces... Don't forget there's nothing wrong in getting a 9-5job for some time if that can help and support you while growing your creative business on the side, also, ask for help whenever you can, I've done both and I think it's probably the main reason I'm running and growing my own agency right now, just 2 years later... ;) Best of luck man!

Thanks you for giving me the great advice to send somebody some portfolio which i did as what you told me that i am suck. Yeah! that would give me unsure about myself that i can do it, so, how could they hire me. Mostly thanks so much...

But where strategic work is? Isn't it more on the branding side of things than website-making side of things?
