Had an honor to play this song for NYSMMA in NY for POBJFK HS as a freshmen in highschool (Class of 2015). Safe to say we received "Gold with Distinction" - the highest honor you can receive at NYSMMA. If there was one song I can play back, it would definitely be this piece!
My school's chamber group is playing this for at least four events this year, and I am very excited about it. (I play upright bass.) Super fun and challenging. :)
Played this last year for UIL string orchestra competition. This was a very challenging piece for our bass section even the pizzacato part at the middle of the piece. I'm a senior know and this piece still haunts me but we had a very good time playing this.
Bass insiders 60 Nice to see fellow basses on here! =D I played this freshman year of high school several years ago, I still remember how much fun it was to play as a bassist!
@@mika_edits9675 it’s been a long 7 years. I’m 26 and I still have vivid memories of this song. I’ve been listening to it and it’s still good after all these years. That bass pizz part is scary but honestly it’s not as hard. It really shows me how much I’ve grown into my adulthood
@@mika_edits9675!! I was in your orchestra last year and played this with you but I moved! I miss this piece kinda it was fun. I also miss my old orchestra :(
Very fun piece to play. Dynamics are very important. For those playing it, be sure to let the melodies shine!! Violas (#violapride) and cellos toward the middle and the violin and viola solo(s) as well. Don't be afraid of pianissimo and fortissimo. Or intonation!! I love playing it. :y
Fulgar I played this in my high school my freshman year four years ago (I'm now a college freshman). Congrats on having the opportunity to play at Carnegie Hall! That's amazing!
we are playing this and I love this song, this is a lot faster then we are playing it though. I like the speed we play it at better. but it is a beautiful song.
Who else is playing this in school orchestra?
Me this year, and I'm a senior.
Me
I played it last year as an 8th grader in our top orchestra
I played this as a senior in high school in 1992 and I still love it almost 30 years later.
