2016: Hits his 100th career homerun Last regular season home game AB in 2016: Hits a homerun Last playoff game AB in 2016: Hits a homerun That's a movie right there folks
the fact that in his final game, final at bat, against a great pitcher that had an ERA under 1.50, he homers to dead center, deepest part of the park, in game seven of the World Series, wow
For a player that didn’t have a HOF career, wasn’t an all-star, didn’t lead the league in any specific stat, wasn’t known for his bat, but did what he did behind the plate. He ending up having a better career then a lot of MLB players with the way his playing career ended and how his managerial career is about to start. As a Cubs fan I really look forward to the start of this 2020 season.
If he manages the Cubs to a second World Series championship, they need to get him in that Hall. HOF criteria should be based on more than just raw statistics.
I cannot be the only one that watches these videos when I get overwhelmed with all the horrible stuff happening around the world. It just makes me so happy!
Was fortunate enough to have David catch for my Braves for years. Never bitched. Never complained. A true professional. Was so very grateful to the universe for his championship successes both in Boston and Chicago. Great video. Enjoyed the livin' hell out of it!
I met him at a baseball camp in Florida. He was a very nice guy and it was a father son camp so he was with his son. Amazing experience and also met Luke weaver
The David Ross walkoff bloop single to win the throwback game vs the Royals was a favorite of mine. The Cubs wore “Whales” jerseys that game. “Whales Win” I was at the pickoff-walkoff so that holds pretty high for me
Here's the movie pitch: Backup: The David Ross Story. The story of how a career backup catcher became one of the most beloved players in Chicago Cubs history, and in the end became the manager.
I cannot imagine a better way to end one's career as a ball player than hitting a home run, in game 7 of the World Series, which you then go on to win, ending a +century-long drought for one of the most legendary ball clubs in the history of the sport. There's just no topping that.
I think Travis Wood must have homered as a starter, not a reliever. Or as a left fielder that one game, LOL. What manager ever let Carlos Marmol bat is my question?
I miss Zobrist. To me, the Cubs clubhouse mentality in 2016 is what made it happen. They had the talent....but guys like Ross, Rizzo and Zobrist just take it to next level.
When the backup catcher is carried off the field like that, you know he’s special!

Even better; it was his last career at bat. Game 7 home run. Boom! and exit.
@@snorman1951 there I fixed it

Gah...
The world series stuff still gets me all emotional-like.
Played with David in college. What a great guy and a class act. All the best to Rossy and the cubbies.

And he knew what pitch is coming, smart.
The big man upstairs must be a Cubby Fan.

He's certainly revered.

I know this isn’t a cubs moment, but one of my favorite rossy moment was when he hit his 1st homer off the one and only, Mark Grace
That must have been pretty graceful

You can be a fan of whatever team you want, but you gotta be stone cold if you don't find the comradery of this team heartwarming.
David Ross is The Man Cub Fans!

Best moment for Grandpa Rossy was when he was a Red 😆
Ross is Boss
I'm not crying. You're crying.
my favorite david ross moment is when he traded some of his best friends for absolutely nothing
To homer in your last game ever... which is game 7 of the world series... which you won. Impossible to cap off a career any better!!!
🐐
It says he was the first reliever to hit a home run since Marmol, what about Travis Wood?
I think Travis Wood must have homered as a starter, not a reliever. Or as a left fielder that one game, LOL. What manager ever let Carlos Marmol bat is my question?
Ross hit his in 2015 Woods was in 2016 playoffs
Honorable Mention, G-Pa walk off single in 2015
That one dislike is from a white sox fan

I thot that Ross was a pitcher
