    I have 4 mid drivers from the "Mission 750 series" installed into other cabinets, they sound very nice to my ears.💜

    1. Altec
    2. JBL
    3. Cerwin-Vega
    4. Dali (Danish)
    5. Advent - revolutionized bookshelf speakers (Boston)
    6. Bowers & Wilkens
    7. Magnepan - planar speakers, paper thin, thousand watts, invented a unique type of speaker (magnetostatic loudspeaker)
    8. PSB - yeah nobody's ever heard of this obscure brand.
    9. Kef
    10. Mission - UK mid-70s, bold colors.
    11. Snell - started in 1976
    12. Monitor Audio
    I was shocked that you overlooked Boston Acoustics, they were a spinoff of Advent and made incredible speakers from the late 70's until 2000.

    Great videos and just subscribed to your channel, enjoy your fair perspectives. Curious what amp would you pair with Bozak 302s? Just curious.

    I have some 1979 ADS L-710. Superbly engineered (originally German brand Braun). The crossovers were made with metallized polyester caps. The sound is very precise and uncolored.

    How is Dynaco not on this list or even the last list ?A25 alone sold more than most back then along with other models .

    I agree with most of your list, but there were so many excellent brands in that time period the list would almost have to be the top 20-25. That period saw the greatest increase in the home audio world. There was not a huge difference in the top 20 as far as sound quality. One of my favorites from that time is Dahlquist. They had quite a few excellent speakers and innovations that impacted other manufacturers. I would also add A/D/S for their incredible sound.

    @Rossi Audio please your opinion about TANDBERG speakers

    • @RossiAudio
      @RossiAudio  4 роки тому

      I like many of the speaker models from Tandberg, and they had a good sound of their time.
      Speakers was not Tandbergs main focus, and they did not put the same type of research and development into that, as they did with other audio related gear such as, amps, receivers, reel to reel and cassette decks.
      However, they used high quality drivers from Seas, and some other speaker driver companies, so the quality was top notch.

    Could you indicate 12 (or ..any quantity) speaker models in terms of classical music, to use them today. Of course according to your musical taste. Thanks a lot.

    • @RossiAudio
      @RossiAudio  4 роки тому

      I listen to a lot of Bach and Beethoven , and some Handel.
      I have always liked the way Altec sounds with classical music.
      Some CV speakers sounds good with classical.
      The vintage bigger JBL speakers, does a really good job.
      What I have noticed, is that while playing classical music, the bigger the drivers are, and the bigger volume the speaker cabinets have, the better it sounds.
      Trying to push out big symphonic music from 4", 5.25" or 6.5" drivers, has always sounded stressed to me, and I have heard some pretty expensive bookshelf speakers.

      @@RossiAudio Thank you for reply. What kind of tweeters do you prefer (metal/soft) for classical music? Examples of acoustics?

    • @RossiAudio
      @RossiAudio  4 роки тому

      @@vitalykoss1897 That depends on rest of the speaker drivers in the speaker, but also what crossover points that are used.
      In some speakers, i prefer soft dome tweeters.
      But I am a HUGE horn speaker fan, there is just something special with speakers that nails the sound from horns, both when it comes to tweeters and midrange.
      But like i said, it depends on the speaker construction as a whole.

    Did you forget to talk about Infinity! Why?

    • @RossiAudio
      @RossiAudio  4 роки тому +1

      No, they was close to enter the list, but they fell a little short. If the list had been "top 15" then they would have been on it.
      It is hard to pick some and leave out others, so it becomes a very narrow window to slip through.
      Everything has to be accounted for.
      Infinity had many models, and they had some really good ones.
      But the ones that was really really really good, was also out of reach for most people.
      Their more economy lines did okay, but they did not set the market on fire.

      They did not have much impact on the consumer market and Hifi part of the audio business.
      They was to much geared towards studio and pro audio.
      Even the few models they had, that could be used as hifi, had very little impact.
      Funny part is, M&K would most likely not be where they was in their good days, without Cerwin-Vega.
      Gene Czerwinski helped these guy to get started, and Ken even worked for Gene for awhile.
      They also bought technology from Cerwin-Vega in the beginning.

      @@sirrealism5806 M&K are very good stuff.
      I spent a lot of time at their booth in Germany in 2002, 2003,2004 and 2005 during the Musik Messe (pro audio, sound & lighting) show.
      At that time i was heavy into pro audio and studio gear, also owned a recording studio at that time.
      So i had close contact with both M&K and Westlake audio.
