Chapathi tip: next time try mixing the whole wheat flour with hot water. Dough almost not sticky to your hands. Apply olive oil half teaspoon over the dough. keep it covered with wet cloth or towel for 30 minutes.

If you fry your spices, garlic and onions first then add the chickpeas & water, it will taste even better. Onions first then spices etc. just for a min or two to release the spice fragrance.

try hot water cornbread, self rising corn meal, salt pepper and garlic powder to taste, boil water and add to corn meal until same texture as your bread. let this sit for about ten min to cook the meal. then form small patties and fry in oil till golden brown. not sure if frying fits your diet but worth every now and then. Enjoy also wet your hands when forming patties to keep from sticking to you hands

An easy staple that is cheap and you can live on (instead of bread) is skillet cornbread. Mix 1/2 cup cornmeal and 1/4 cup "just add water" pancake mix (2:1 ratio). Add a spoon of sugar and a pinch of salt. Then add enough water to batter and cook in skillet with a little oil. A thick batter comes out like cornbread and a thinner batter comes out like pancakes. The instant pancake mix serves as a binder for the corn meal (probably because of the wheat gluten) and allows it to rise a little. The cornbread is a good side with beans or steak and the pancakes are a good breakfast. A thinner batter is also good for batter fried chicken or fish. A variation with this recipe is to add a bunch of chopped onion to the batter and make onion patties. Taste like onion rings but easier to make.

I’m here on Van Isle as well and yes, I’m sure by now you’ve realized the weather forecast is rarely accurate. My weather channel is up at 5am, drink my coffee on the deck and decide what I’m going to do when I’m done. They can’t predict the weather for us here as well because they have no way of predicting how the different fronts will react to offshore and onshore of the west coast. So we just roll with it here. I keep it simple: May- Sept (hardly any rain): October-April (lots of rain and some snow).😂

I make chapati's all the time, I normally mix in a small amount of rapeseed/sunflower oil and a pinch of salt to mine. The key is to let it rest and then roll it out really thin. There are some good techniques to get it to puff up, but really it just takes practice to get good at it, like anything.

So sorry that we missed the premiere but late morning just didn't work out as one of us (Lance) had to work - the fun of having a somewhat non-standard job! Having watched this after Jake's video this evening it was nice to see a little more progress on the construction, and it was also funny that you both chose to dedicate a lot of video time on the food you are eating. It's not bad, just interesting that you both had the same sort of content ideas during filming/editing. Just shows how in sync with each other you must be :-) Super cool to see some of your yoga at the end... almost in complete silhouette. Very beautiful. Thanks again for taking the time to create and edit the video. Looking forward to the next one! Lance & Carol - Victoria
