so much character, so much creativity in arranging the parts & unbelivably round groove for a metal drummer... This album and SeasonsInTheAbyss is a metaldrummers bible...
@@HamsterCrusher13I didn't set that He's not creative at all. I just set that Lombardo is more creative than Him, but actually fuck it. Who am I even to judge? After decades Metallica still will be known like The Beatles.
He's got a SUCH GROOVE. This is what makes him stand apart from other metal drummers. His fills are cool but not too out of ordinary. That GROOVE he has though is KING.🔥🔥🔥🔥🌟⚡⚡
@@DrewRandIsCool He's really not. He neither the fastest or the best double kicker of the 80/90s. Trash/speed metal isn't even a genre that's known for it's drumming. You're talking about the era when death metal was born.
Ya Dave plays in a funk/groove type style where timing alters but overall the timing always comes back on point, where Paul is too precise and loses all the flavor. Likewise Dave can't play anything Paul wrote either for the same reasons.
The drum parts for the guitar solo sections are difficult for me to get right. Hearing them isolated makes me believe I'm over thinking it listening for cues in the music instead of counting the beats because he doesn't go off rhythm. Also I thought he went budda budda budda budda down the toms in the middle of kerry's solo but it turns out the double bass drums make it sound like that but he's really going blum blum blum blum on them. Interesting.
You will never find one. See starting a band and finding the people who are willing to play with you is the hardest thing! If they are this good, they want to find an established band and go on tour and be a rock star!.. lol.. They won't be bothered with your startup band. A guy this good can call his own shots, the band forms around him. You'll be begging him to show up to practice and when he does, his girlfriend won't let him play and he won't pitch in for studio rent. He'll come 2 hours late! And the first time you tell him to play the beat like you want it and give him direction (as simple as play a skank beat here instead of what you are doing), he'll throw a hissy fit and leave the band. I've seen it all... lol. Just sayin. Finding a sane, cool guy who as good as Dave is next to impossible.
No technique my ass! Try to play the song as good as Dave if you think you can. Dave has a good share of technique and impeccable timing. What he has that's more important is groove, tone, passion, dynamics, and the way he plays the drums to all Slayer songs can fit the band's style perfectly. If you think that this song is a beginner song to play, then you're totally wrong and that's a fact.
I am a drummer and I don’t know if you are joking but this is intermediate-Advanced drumming I might learn it. I know seasons in the abyss, raining blood, and angel of death. And the fill at 3:45 is definitely easy. Look at other fills in the song that are more technical and harder than that. But my point is definitely not beginner level.

An unbelievable experience. After 30 years a dream come true. These "Drums only" tracks at YT are so impressive, thx for mixing and uploading !!!
the complexity of his playing is so high to be fully apreciated with all the instruments playing together
DAVE LOMBRADO IS THE KING OF THE DOUBLE BASS OF DRUMMING
Pete Sandoval dislikes this comment.
I love his drumming but come on dude...seriously.

Dave is the definition of slayer
Paul bostaph is a great drummer. He can play Daves parts note for note. He just doesn't have Daves swing.
Patrick Wagener swing is the perfect word for it

I just realized Doom 2 Map07 drum intro is straight from this song
zupperm The drums are the same.
Love the fills and that organic drum sound!
Damn.. I can listen Lombardos and Bonzos drums all day..
Dave and John are my idols. Matt from mudvayne is up there too.
Two of my top 5, actually top 2
Dave Lombardo,
Chris Adler,
Nick Menza R.I.P.
Gar Samuelson is too easily forgotten and overlooked, I think it’s criminal how un-talked of he is. An extraordinaire for sure
Lars ulrich

3 favorite drummers of all time Dave from slayer, Carey from tool and Moon from the who!
Ginger Baker.
Good picks. Also Phil Collins, Brann Dailor, Jimmy Chamberlain, the list goes on and on..
For me as well I agree with all of you with the addition of Lars ulrich
Lombardo, Copeland and Moon for me.
My top 3 drummers are Dave Lombardo, Igor Cavalera and Gene Hoglan.
This is a masterpiece!
What a groove!
For those 7 demented unlike: All eternal flames of hell for you! Warship God Dave
