- The ALL NEW 4 series Gran Coupe is here and BMW brought some big changes. Under the hood is a 3.0L turbocharged inline-6 that produces 382HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. On the outside you will notice the unique dimensions of the Gran Coupe, LED lighting, 19in wheels and sport back design. On the inside you will be greeted to tan leather interior, plenty of passenger space and cargo space. Is the 2022 BMW M440i Gran Coupe a BETTER performance car than an Audi S5 ?

This car is REALLY good. I came from an M340i to an M440i GC, and the M440i GC is about 95% as fun as the M340i, but soooooo much more comfortable as well. The hatchback is just icing on the cake. The G26 4 GC is a fantastically engineered car. Also, nobody noticed the M340i, but I get tons of compliments on my M440i GC. Say what you will about the "Beever Teef", but this car is a head turner in a good way.
Man I was considering trading my M340i for a M440i GC. I like the hatch and I like the fact that you can get cooled seats. I’m hung up on the slower 0-60 though.
What colors did you have for each vehicle?
Why is it more comfortable. Aren't they pretty much the same car?
@@Fasty2107 you would think, but no. BMW retuned the suspension on the 4 GC compared to the 3 series. They also have different wheel bases, different weight, sound deadening, etc. Same platform, but different cars.
It is really great of you to mention the history behind this iconic company dating back to its aviation heritage. Most folks are unaware of why the BMW logo is that circular blue/white disc. This is a direct reference to the awesome engines they produced with the spinning prop, hence the blue/white disc. My comment is probably too much into the weeds, but my appreciation for BMW's aviation history knows no bounds. This 440i is, in a word, awesome! Thanks, Joe.
The BMW logo is actually a reference to the Bavarian flag, the state in Germany that BMW was founded in!
I'm a BMW guy for sure, and I like this one. That paint job reminds me of the techno-violet color they made in '99 for the M3, iridescent. Exhaust sound is strong. Great price, would love to do that long road trip you are talking about in this one! Well done filming.

There's no option for a 12.3 inch screen. Also, the power seats aren't an option, they're standard - BMW is putting the manual seats b/c of the chip shortage

I have a 22 grand coupe with manual seats they told me it was meant to go to another country. Because it’s my car I have it set how I like it at all times but for passengers they do have trouble but to be honest I don’t mind

NIce car but they kill you with options! No standard ventilated or standard power seats is unacceptable at this price. Should be standard since this is a luxury car not only a sporty car.

I hope one day all vehicles have as a standard feature a rear view mirror camera. Many cars and SUVs have it as an option now, but ones like this with a sloped rear window is really where it's needed!

@hon solo that's a different thing. Yes, back up cameras were mandated since 2018 and newer vehicles. That shows on the infotainment screen only when in reverse, or some 360 systems will show it while parked or moving slowly. I'm talking about the center rear view mirror either being a mirror or switch it to a screen showing what's behind you while you're driving. That camera is typically placed at the base of the shark fin antenna where the back up camera is typically right above the bumper.

I own the 2016 428 Gran Coupe. That car was a head turner back in the day and it's still is today but I want to upgrade to this more powerful engine M440 Grancoupe. It was nice not having car payment the past 2 years but F-it 😂

I've had my 440i Gran Coupe for about 2 months now in the Brooklyn Grey. I have to say the handle of the Xdrive system is amazing. It's an extremely fun car to drive.
Same here, I'm in Alaska......the roads have been insane fun. Car handles incredibly well!

Test drove an M340i & a 540i today and will be going back to test this car… seems like the perfect mid point between the 3 & 5…. I love the grill (it’s grown on me)

I actually just purchased a BMW today and the rep told me some cars because of the chip shortage we’re having to drop power seats for manual. They were letting those who ordered cars back out of their deals because of this if they wanted to

Raiti.... This is also a Stinger competitor. The 430i competes with the loaded GT-Line and the GT1. The 440i is only a little more than the loaded GT2 Scorpion Edition. Not to mention Kia dealers currently want well over MSRP. For $60k.... I would be trying for the M440i Gran Coupe.

Actually the GranCoupe has always been a step above the 3 series and it costs a little bit more. It does have some minor touches that makes the interior nicer than the 3er and also the fact its meant to be a sexier sportier version. It rides 1/2 inch lower than the 3er and it's wider
I definitely prefer the styling of the F32 4 Series.

I find it funny that they can this 4 Door sedan a coupe, but I do really like the design. Especially because it's a liftback!!
I have a 2018 GranCoupe. Thanks for pronouncing it properly as so many others do not. I'm still not on board with the grille and prefer the side looking cameras on the front fenders as they give you a clear and undistorted view of on coming side traffic. Eager to see what other interiors will be offered as the pressers are not impressive as the version that I have which brings elegance and style. The presser is too utilitarian for me.

You did a great job describing this vehicle. My next car will be either the M440i Gran Coupe X-drive or the Audi S5 Sportback AWD. I still do not know which one until I test drive them...May 2022!!
I test drove both cars as well and ultimately decided on the 440 GC. I did prefer the styling on the S5 but decided that the B58 engine was just better.

This car in this color looks fantastic.
I have an M340 and love it; I think this is my next car. I like the grill a lot; prefer it without the grey accents though; all black looks way better

It was a glitch in early production. All current 4 GCs come with full power seats.
The grille looks totally badasss - bold styling like a Bentley conti GT. These on the road look so good!!

Great car, the looks are growing on me and it looks better in darker colors. I love the color ....Tanzanite Blue? I would love to see a comparison between this and the I4 50i which is a EV with the same body. I own a 430i convertible. Order the extended shadow line trim and they black out the grill. It makes it acceptable.

The front grill on the new BMW Alpina B8 now looks like the new KIA grill in the Stinger. Unbelievable; why do the other Bimmers have that fugly large bucktooth grill and not this one? I'll tell you why...because they finally saw the sales figures....numbers don't lie. I participated in a BMW marketing survey regarding their new grill in the M3 and M4 and 90% of us disliked it, yet they went ahead and tried to make a bold statement and it literally backfired in their pockets. BMW is trying to hid behind Covid as an excuse. Sales are down substantially....money talks BS walks. As usual Joe your videos are cool, fun and informative and of course the production quality is masterful.
It is really interesting the crazy direction that BMW is taking.

I had a new 325i back in 1989 and loved it. I'm another one that HATES that grill. It hasn't grown on me, maybe it grows on others like a fungus. FUGLY

for folks hating on the new grill, I was one of you because I was thinking of it as a giant BMW emblem. In that case, it is severely overweight. Then after a few dozen vids, I began to see it not as an emblem but a grill, in which case it is on par with most modern cars, and in fact it became a very aggressive and forward design.
I would go Audi
