I tied this the other day and finally got around to using it today. I was testing out all the flies I tied, the wind was a bit rough to fish it under a dry so I used the bung. I threw it out to start letting out line for my cast and a rainbow nabbed it. It was the only cast it seen today since I was testing out all the flies but for sure something I look forward to fishing with come spring/summer time.
Hi Gareth, Great fly and replacing the tail is spot on, I have been doing the same for a few years now. And a great big thank you for the entertainment with Keith Parris. I often read the comments and this is the best by miles. Oh and nice to see you get some good views on your latest vid. You are a pro mate and deserve it. Take care. Shaun.
The original also wasn't a pheasant tail. My channel shows you flies, that will help you catch more fish. If you are after tutorials showing carbon copies of original flies, my channel is not for you. I appreciate both the view and the comment though. Have a great week and tight lines.
@@GarethWilson2k9 I seem to recall that it was stated that the original was chartreuse which as far as I am aware was incorrect , anyhow as I do not particularly like to watch videos teaching people ,nicely I might add but incorrectly ,you no doubt be pleased to know I have unsubscribed and will advised other members of my club to do the same if they want correct information on patterns !
@@KEITHPARRIS2949 Thank you, Kieth. Firstly, it never states that the original uses chartreuse. Maybe watch next time instead of pre-judging. Not a great example of your 'immaculate' attention to detail. Secondly, why would anyone want to be part of a Fly Tying club that crushes creativity? "your fly is Medium Olive its meant to be DARK OLIVE...GET OUT!!" Thirdly I tie flies that catch fish and not the angler. I like to put my own twist and personality into my flies and the results speak for themselves. If you are unwilling to advance or move on, past the first flies ever created, then I can only pray that you enjoy your time on the water without spreading your negativity onto other anglers. Yours sincerely Gareth Just as a little extra, nothing in this pattern, is used in the original Montana Nymph. So, it's odd you only managed to pick up on 1 thing.
Love a scruffy Montana fly, would have that on my team anyday, nice tip with the legs will try that
Cheers Paul. Great little nymph to have, usually my point fly when in a team.

That's great Dean. Glad you managed to get out and test it.
Awesome with the many tying tutorials as of lately. Hopefully You will get a chance to the black mamba soon.

Nice tie pal 👍
Cheers Simon.
A very neat "scruffy" fly, tip: base of feather stem, perfect for cleaning varnish out of hook eye.
A great tip for new tyers. Thanks for sharing it.
Really good pattern that! Now I have to go buy some more materials 🤦♂️😂
Be worth it though.
@@UkFlyFisher I'm sure, that vicuna dubbing looks brilliant, will have to order a selection of colours
@@lwilliamson9216 I'm looking to create my own selection with them. Watch this space.
I love it. 🎣🎣
Thank you John.
little misleading for my taste as the Montana was tied using green for the thorax not charteuse !

What a pointless comment 🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️

Fair reply.
