    That is absolutely gorgeous. I used to be a hand knitter until my arthritis got too bad. I’ve been on the fence about the machines. They looked like a lot of fun but most of the sweaters I saw didn’t look like most sweaters. The knitting was fine but the shaping was missing. They would be fine for wearing around the house but I was thinking of making sweaters for my granddaughters as a gift and I wanted them to look professional. I think I’m going to be saving my pennies!

      I can definitely see where you're coming from. I'm trying to figure out how to do set-in and raglan shaped sweaters on the machine. I hope to post it in a week or so.

      In addition to my past comment I wanted to tell you I discovered that I can start knitting in the tube setting and then switch to panel mode for knitting a sleeve. I was having trouble dropping stitches on the panel mode so I would pull down the yarn back and front but with this cast on I can knit with confidence that the stitches will not fall off. I forgot to mention I started sleeve in tube mode with waste yarn then I switched to panel mode with my working yarn as I am working in panel mode now my panels stay flat they do not curl because the round of waste yarn is holding work down and straight. I have seen many videos people using clips to hold down yarn with my method no clips are needed and no ironing panels needed panels are flat. Maybe you can make a video about that. It would help a lot of people their projects would look nice and neat like yours.

    🙋🏻‍♀️ Hi Melissa, I can’t catch at what point you placed the stitch marker for the V(while picking up stitches)? The video sped up and then you placed the green marker (22:29) but I can’t tell exactly where that is, I’m a bit lost there, you’re a really great teacher by the way, I subscribed, I want to learn more from you, pls help, thank you ❤️

      Thank you for the feedback! I put the stitch marker in the first decrease for the v-neck so I would know where it was located when I did the neck/button band. I originally had a really small stitch marker that didn't show up on camera so I changed it to the green one lol. Hope that answers your question!

    How do you know where you want to end at your pin? Do you measure yourself first and then determine where the pin should start and end? I see and understand what your doing a lil bit, so if i wanted to make this for myself how should figure out which pin to stop at? I hope I'm not confusing you. Thanks

    I don’t know if this would work with the Sentro or not as I’ve heard conflicting answers. There is a woman who frequently panel knits on her Addi and she does not start at needle one. If she is going to knit 34 stitches she counts 17 stitches to the left of needle one and seventeen stitches to the right of needle one. Each time she goes past needle one it counts a row.
    I have read that some people have good luck with doing this on the Sentro but a few others have said that it just goes to one and then back to zero, one and back to zero. but I thought I’d mention it. (I don’t have a machine yet - saving my pennies😂. But with more and more patterns I see, I’m going to get one soon!)

    For keeping count do you count one row you crank and 1 and then the cranking back to the white needle as row 2 and then again cranking back as row 3 and so on?

    • @auntmelissacrafts
      @auntmelissacrafts  10 місяців тому

    • @janetdw

      You could also just sew the seams. There are several tutorials on UA-cam on this. If your edges are nice and even some methods make it almost invisible. When I hand knitted (pre arthritis) I used to join panels using something called the mattress stitch (no clue why🤷🏼‍♀️) and if I really watched my edges, you could not see where I joined them. I just looked at a commercially made sweater and it looks like they just sewed a seam like in sewing. I hope that helps.

    Why not say what size the sweater will fit? I find many tutorials that don't give a size for the project. It would give folks a sense of how many stitches they might need (assuming novices). I feel like 68 in the front and 44 in the back might fit a small/med?

    • @auntmelissacrafts
      @auntmelissacrafts  Рік тому +7

      Size is such a personal thing. This would be a small, but depending on yarn size and gauge of the yarn, it can vary. For example, someone can make the same garment with thick yarn and it could become a medium. The easiest way to figure it out is to measure how many stitches fit in an inch when you make a swatch with your yarn. You can then multiply that by your measurements to get the size you want. I hope that's helpful!
