heel spurs are calcium deposits in the fascia attachment. They are not hard. Weight under the front of the foot that pulls the plantar fascia attachment to the heel is what hurts. Pressing on the heel hurts in 50% of heel spur/plantar fasciitis patients but that is only because of nerve involvement in the area. 'heel spurs' by them selves are not a problem. It should be treated as a case of plantar fasciitis.
Better than other media info, I will have to pursue further as knowledge is gravely important. I am currently limping daily with constant pain. I have to pursue a different line of work now.
I bought 5 dollar shoe inserts and cut wholes in them in the center of the heal. 3 weeks later I am jogging again. I put 2 shoe inserts with wholes cut out in center of the heal in my jogging shoes. The whole in the center of the heal shoe is what worked for me.
What a great idea with a styrofoam cup thank you !! I I don't think I have any Styrofoam cup so I'm going to try a silicone one. Thank you thank you thank you

Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else wants to discover how to cure foot pain try Vaxicorn Treat Feet Guide (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my m8 got great results with it.
+MDeezy Dinero I have spent months studying cures for plantar fasciitis and found a fantastic website at Natural Foot Wizard (google it if you are interested)
MDeezy Dinero -yes that is exactly where mine is. it is growing off the back of my heel bone. A large bursa has formed around it . it could sever my achilles tendon. Have the area x-rayed.
My doctor suggested me to take 1800mg of ibuprofen per day for 7 days to relive the heel spur pain.. I had sever stomach upsets due to ibuprofen. I stopped taking them.. now I have found a organic, plant based supplement (not a pain reliever) that is really helping me... I have no pain, I can play tennis, hike, jog without worrying about it.
The SPUR is not the problem...It is the chornic on and off inflammatory reaction in the fascia...FEW use "cortisone" and Depo MEdrol is the drug of choice
No there don't but mine were awesome!! I wore them for over 5yrs and then got them refurbished for 38 dollars. I am in retail I was in so much pain and walked like I was 99 years old. I tried all kinds of inserts and was just dishing my money out. I figured why not try it, if I continue buy them from the store at this rate, I could have professional ones. My husband agreed, it iscmy health. Sorry yours didn't work out, although I also tried the ones with the cushion in them. Don't like it but it might be my fault. I was suppose to wear them a couple of hours each day until my foot could adjust. I didn't listen and boy after a week of 8 hour shifts. My feet were worse off. I put the others ones back on and my feet are saying thank you. Do you have bone spurs? Have you tried any of the above treatments? If so which one worked.
Why the hell would anybody want to pay for stupid inserts and all this other garbage when you could just simply have it surgically removed and be done with it?
Dear God...here we are allegedly well educated, and they are still fart-arsing around trying to figure out how to fix heel spurs. Get a bloody acupuncture needle and drive it straight into the base of the heel. Job done! And didn't have to go to some bullshit medical school for five years to learn that!!!
I would rather have surgery and get that thing out that way when II get older I won't have that problem with pain I don't want to have to be doing that the whole rest of my life till I die
why is livestrong still around? isn't Livestrong supporting a drug user and someone that has drugged in the past to win? I suggest you guys disassociate yourselves

Thanks for posting...these hurt soo much. I was told in the old days they used to hit the heel with a hammer to smash the spur !!!
😨
That doesn't sound productive...
I'm about to this point. My spur is thru the insertion of the Achilles and nothing is working.

is surgery the best option for the heel spur when nothing else Works including cortisone shot

can this be caused by playing alot of sports on hard floors with shoes that lack shock absorbtion?

im waiting for a laser treatment to be developed that will disintegrate the spur. The surgery used now is very primitive imo.

When is surgery necessary?
Do they ever go away?

What is the organic, plant based supplement u use?
What is the plant you use??
Hi Kanguna, you have not disclosed what plant based supplement you have used to recover from pain? It would be highly appreciable on your suggestion.

@heelspurs what about calcium deposits in the achilles attachment?
Mine hurt, I have a few bone spurs, was told to exercise my foot, and do ice and ibuprofen... all I know is it freaking hurts to walk...
i have it myself it frickin hurts
same
No treatments given to actually remove the spur.
I got a cortisone shot in my heel 10 years ago and it never hurt again in one foot. Now i need one in my other foot
what causes the calcium deposits?
no, can only be caused by a little bit of sports on cotton-candy floors and only if you're wearing shoes that have velcro.
Worse pain I hope i don't SURGERY those injections are VERY PAINFUL and don't work.
That man does not move. It's either a dummy, or a deceased man.
I searched it up because I have it a and it does really hurt but how I got it is when I did double backflip on ground
The SPUR is not the problem...It is the chornic on and off inflammatory reaction in the fascia...FEW use "cortisone" and Depo MEdrol is the drug of choice
Heel spurs don't cause pain, it's the planter fascia that hurts because of the spur
Am permanently cured with Dr iyaremoses herbal medicine and body cleanser#driyaremoses
Pain is evil
If I cut mine out, will you sew me up?
The expensive orthotics .... usually not covered by insurance ....... Don't work.

It could come back again after surgery
