I have the same one, made the trem floating and it stays perfectly in tune, action is low and very elastic like the notes just jump off the fretboard, it’s my favorite guitar for the last 48 hours, no mods no upgrades.
I bought a 2004 squire strat with the 70s headstock for 150, and got the trem floating perfectly and now it plays like a dream i can bend the trem like crazy and it always goes back in tune (two point trem not 6 point, i hate 6 point)
I got this Fender model and love it and love the matte finish actually. My friend who owns several Fender Stratocasters laid on me a pick guard at the Fender Venra series level with the hot pickups etc. etc. I DO plan to switch out the pick guard and pickups and have the guitar checked over and the neck conditioned. But to get this guitar for just $119 and then to have my friend give me for FREE the beautiful high quality pick guard with all the electrics and pickups attached - WOW! I am going to have quite a beautiful and beautiful sounding guitar for under $150!!! By the way, a year or so ago, I picked up another very inexpensive acoustic guitar - which was at the time only $179 and is the best sounding and playing acoustic - love it. The bracing was re-done and that has given the Yamaha FG-800 a beautiful bass response. Now the one I got perhaps is somehow an anomaly, but I have played many, many guitars such as Martins and Taylors and this little FG-800 sounds better - really - than all of them for way less. All I am going to do is to have a pickup installed. I do not work for Yamaha, but I am 1,000% pleased with the FG-800 - check one out - I think you will love it. There IS a version with a pickup installed by Yamaha as well.
I just got one of these in Dakota Red. It's awesome! I'm impressed for the price. I didn't set it up yet and been playing it and it's solid, stays in tune, sounds awesome. I'm very happy with it.
I went ahead and ordered one (supposed to be here tomorrow) because it's only $120 and I already have a loaded pickguard with alnico v pickups and a wiring harness with upgraded pots and thick braided wires laying around and a set of locking tuners that are unassigned as of right now, so why not? I kinda have to. I got the 2 tone sunburst one. I'll probably just keep the stock trem because I'm not much of a whammy bar guy anyway, but I'll still leave it floating. I kinda like that it only has one string tree and the slim headstock. Traditionally, the cheaper ones have two trees and the fat 70s headstock, so it gives it a little bit more classic look. I'll probably swap the tree out for a roller tree. I've heard good things about these, I have to imagine Fender's profit margins are extremely low, but it's a good way to take back some business from the cheap copycats. I mean, who's gonna pay $90 for a Glarry now when they can get a real Strat for $30 more? This will be Strat #6 in my current lineup. I also have a Fojill mahogany light relic Strat, two Squier Affinity Strats, a DIY kit built Strat and a 2007 MIM Fender Standard Strat, all of which I heavily modded or restored.
@@Mr.PhatsVarietyVibesShow Not in the USA. The Debut Tele is only available in Europe. I've also seen reviews and it doesn't even sound like a Tele. It sounds a lot like my Sonic Mustang SS, it doesn't have that signature Tele Twang.
I purchased a Fender Telecaster Squier from Amazon for $230.00 or so with the gig bag, picks, strap and cable. The guitar looks and plays great with no problems with hardware or the finish.Checked out the set up on the strings and raised the neck pick. It's hard to beat for $199.00. Thanks for the video.
Great video. I have had my Debut Strat for about 3 months, and I love it. I also have a Fender Player Tele that is a much better quality instrument, but my Squier Debut Strat is the guitar I reach for about 80% of the time because it is so much fun to play. I have a question about the way you polished yours. You used Meguiar’s Ultimate Compound. You also had Meguiar’s Ultimate Polish because you were running low on the compound. It wasn’t clear to me if you only used the polish when you ran out of compound, or if you also used the polish as a follow up to the compound. Do I need both to get the results you did, or can I use just the compound?
They are great guitars! I ended up giving this one away to a friend who had a son that wanted to learn how to play. Absolutely perfect guitar for that. As for the polish, both work, but the compound will yield much faster results. You shouldn’t need the polish
Polish your matt black guitar to a mirror finish if you want every speck of dust and fingerprint to show lol. I have a gloss black epi les paul and it is terrible for showing every dust speck, fingerprint and every micro scratch
Nice playing guitar never know why beginners would have a really good guitar to start playing as that goes anyone who buys. It's not a failure in guitars. I was really surprised.
I bought this debut squier in red. I am really impressed by the quality for the price! Pickups …meh….. like you said. But a great platform for modding.
I wouldn't say it's not worth it even if it does indeed need a professional setup. I had Gibsons that needed a professional setup out of the box (which by the way is a shame at their pricepoints). Anyhow maybe it's the luck of the draw but nearly every guitar I've ever purchased by ordering i.e not buying it in a brick and mortar shop needed at least some kind of setup. Just my two cents 🙂
The pickups are really low output, the neck is thin, tuners work but might be plastic, strings seem to be 8's. the rest is pretty amazing for the money. Don't polish it relic it.
in my opinion because the pick guard is a cheapo & the pick ups don't sound very good Fender should just make this thing & sell it for like 80 bucks or something with out the pick ups.
That’s ridiculous. I hope you’re not judging the quality of the pick ups based on the sound quality of this video because the sound quality on this video is rough at best.
@brushcl it seems UA-cam erased my answer to your comment even though not a single word of it was hostile. Oh well, here I go again. I buy cheap guitars to mod them. I knew that I would get better sound with the pickups I chose than the ones it came with. So the same day I bought the Debut, I went on eBay and got some noiseless alnico 5 pups. They sound fantastic.
In the UK they are selling this guitar on Amazon for £129.99 which is $173.97. This is an outrageous price for this guitar, you can get a much much better guitar for this money from say Jet or Harley Benton.
This is a really annoying video between the vocal fry, how stoned this dude is, and him saying “anyways” all the time, I had to turn it off. It’s “anyway” not “anyways.”
Thanks for your comment. Any engagement, positive or negative helps my channel a lot. Also, I don’t smoke or partake in anything like that. I’m just a little weird, thanks for watching!
I dont get it. Why are you buying the cheapest guitar on the market? Why not buy a quality instrument and not waste your time..will you ever gig with it? I seriously dont think so why bother..😮
You have a very poor attitude towards guitars. You do realize that you can mod a cheap guitar into a great instrument for thousands of dollars cheaper than buying an expensive instrument just because it says a name brand on the headstock. 😂 Sucks to be like that.
Agreed, I’ve never claimed to be good at guitar. I mostly just work on them, maybe you could post a lesson for me? I’d like to learn how to play better
What a bold and dickhead statement coming from someone who has zero content on their channel... Tell ya what, Sparky....why don't YOU post something up and let us all see and hear what you've got, if anything....my guess is, you probably don't even own a guitar much less play one. So go ahead and post something up, we'll wait...

going to have to polish mine up now, that was the only thing I wasn't digging

That is the cleanest finish I’ve ever seen. Good job.

Your playing sounds great to me.🎸

How long did it take yours to come? I ordered mine on the 30th and still hasn’t shipped.
Only a day or 2 I think, I got mine off of Amazon
I bought this debut squier in red. I am really impressed by the quality for the price! Pickups …meh….. like you said. But a great platform for modding.
Looks great! Even a 3 ply pick guard. The sonic series has a single ply lol
That sounds terrible. I blame it on your amp settings. You had it that far apart and didn’t check the intonation?
You had me at the sound of those pickups. Jeez. ❤
Loaded pick guards are wicked cheap on Temu & worth it.
nice playing, great review
What is the weight of this guitar ❓
Six pounds, two ounces
gfs has alnico pickups starting at $19 and go up to +- $30

Good luck getting cheap used parts to fit either of those .
That sounds awful fair play
Video was great...until you plugged it in and....the guitar sounds like shit. ha ha change the pickups and pots.

If you dont like it…dont buy it…simple as that!
I bought mine for beater use. I won’t feel the pain of significant loss if something goes wrong with it.
All that gear and can't play...Just sad
