At over 100 miles long, the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway is one of the best ways to see the Kentucky countryside. Starting in Slade, KY, we head counterclockwise on the DBBB to explore, camp and relax doing what we call overlanding. We all met through our ZR2s and decided to head down for Memorial Day. This was the first test of the fridge/solar setup and it was worth all the work. Enjoy!

Great video Cam! I think this might be your best video yet. Love the work you all did with your winches. Great job helping each other through some challenging trails. That camp spot on Sunday by the river was about as good as it gets.

Those are some badass looking ZR2s, I can't wait to get the ZR2 Bison with the baby Duramax from AEV.
Congrats! You would be so astonished what these trucks and especially the Bison are capable of. Please think about deleting the truck sooner than later, the emissions system is the weak link and it depends where you live. Let me know if you go down that route, I can refer you to my tuner. Tune/delete was the best thing I did to the truck at 10k miles, I should have done it immediately. AEV is a fantastic company and their stuff is amazing. Are you going to do their snorkel or the couple additional skid plates they offer for the bison?
@@CarsCatsCannabis Why do you recommend sooner than later? I would think you'd want to at least wait until the warranty runs out.
@@red6743 EGR recirculates exhaust back into the intake, coating it with soot. Not to mention emissions issues with DPF. There are two schools of thought. 1. Delete right away to minimize damage and hope you got a good engine from factory. 2. Wait until warranty is up to delete.
Nothing wrong with either option, up to you.
@@CarsCatsCannabis Can't help but notice that one comment, "hope you got a good engine from the factory.." are issues being seen with the baby duramax aside from exhaust?

I don't know how many times somebody called out to Mike to turn his wheels to the passenger side but he never did. Either Mike is hard of hearing, doesn't know what passenger means, or is just plain stubborn.
I think Mike got a new nickname now. We will call him him passenger Mike

Nice to see there is good off road trails in my grandfather's national forest I might have to collaborate with you guys in my Midnight ZR2 diesel next time Mine is bone stock I still want to basically do everything you have done to yours I already have a modified f250 I would probably take as well I just want to make sure both trucks have winches before I take that big heavy Ford in the mud

nice. but my stock 98 ranger did spaas creek and part of pumpkin hollow before i turned around because i kept bottoming out on the deep ruts. while id love a new truck, its just not necessary for offroad like many seem to think

Are all the zr2s stock and diesel?
Nice video with some great scenery. One observation though. I'm pretty sure you don't want to do the low and slow through a mud hole. Save that for the dry steep hill assent over rough terrain. In mud you might want to giv'er a little gas and run through it. Just sayin.

Planning a trip to do the DBBB. What was the campsite yall stayed at the second night with the big field?
unfortunately none of us even found the name of it, couldn't find anyone to pay for our stay either. I'm trying to find where it was
Out of curiosity i figure youre probably over payload with all the steel, overland gear and passengers. Did you aid the rear of truck? Air bags?
Im right at the max when fully geared up. When i throw my dirt bike on the receiver hitch im about 150 over
I am not over payload, although I am removing some steel and getting new bumpers. I am putting on Deaver leafs to compensate for my weight this year.
@@CarsCatsCannabis oh okay. Its amazing how quick gear,armor start to rack up the pounds. Yes hopefully they come out soon. I could use a 500 pound stiffer rear leaf

They did fine and got through it. That´s how you learn. They´ll get better every time they go. You didn´t know anything, either, until somebody told you or until you gained experience. They had fun. That´s what is important.
