I love this subtle detail in the scene with the hat: Galinda's friends try to convince her to give Elphaba the hat with the intent of embarrassing her, and Galinda initially seems hesitant. When Elphaba returns, Galinda's eyes land on the stack of spell books Elphaba is carrying, reminding her that Elphaba was chosen by Morrible and not her, which seemingly triggers Galinda to play the mean trick after all out of spite. After Galinda hands her the hat, we see a shot of her walking away looking conflicted. I really like that she isn't painted simply as the "mean girl," and through film we get to see some of the nuances of her character.
Loved that movie!! Saw it three times! A modern masterpiece of filmmaking ! Even though I am a musical theater fan never in 20 years did I see the show or listen to the score? To say I was amazed, is putting it mildly! Now I’m obsessed like everyone else! Listening to the score, nonstop, and watching all the clips & interviews! Love the entire score! I find myself listening to. I’m not that girl, the most frequently especially Cynthia’s heartfelt interpretation.
I can't wait to go see it again! And yesss!! The score stays in my head on repeat right now, it's so good!! Cynthia was SO amazing in this role - the scene at the Oz Dust Ballroom still makes me tear up 😂
Every Broadway show has that one incredibly boring song. In _Wicked_ it's "Sentimental Man." There's a fantastic comedy song that makes fun of these kinds of songs, and it mentions "Sentimental Man" by name. It's perfect.
I neeeed to watch it - the vibes are exactly what I love! I just got Netflix again this month, so I might try and binge it over the holidays!! Thank you so much for watching!! 🥰
Favorite songs in Act II are "No Good Deed" and "For Good". Pretty sure the original song is going to be for Boq. Why bring in Ethan Slater and not give him a feature song? I think "For Good" will bring more tears than "Defying Gravity".
@@theegreatkatsby No way! That was one of my top movies last year and my favorite of the Hunger Games film adaptations (I’m biased cause I’m a dude lol). I’ve been a fan of Rachel Zegler from the beginning and nothing could make me hate her; been meaning to see her new 2000s A24 movie. Is there proof of your costume?! Pictures or it didn’t happen haha.
@@daguy8275 I haven't seen much of her other work, I'll have to check it out!! And of course! Haha I could not let that go undocumented! www.tiktok.com/@thee_great_katsby/video/7431176039797181738
Ok, new viewer... didn't know where you were going and worried over the personal opinions of their personal lives...we are so good at looking at how people treated others in the past. Otherwise, I enjoyed your video!
I loved this review! It was everything I would have said. They better not mess up Harry Potter! Avatar better be better. I thought Arianna was perfect for the role because she can impersonate anybody. I thought Cynthia was perfect for the role, bonus for being black. The friends was so spot on! When she drops her book into tge guy friends hand in " What is this feeling"! I hate sentimental man. I honestly think that if they would have cut it, non wicked fan wouldnt think it was too much singing. I love these bookcovers on your chanel!
I probably didn't explain it very well haha this is the video I'm talking about (around the 5:30/6 min mark! ua-cam.com/video/zhND6ZDi5HI/v-deo.html&ab_channel=ClassicFM ) It's super cool how he did it!

Cynthia Erivo played Harriet in the movie and she did a long run as Celie in the color purple and won a Grammy and a Tony for the role
I hadn't seen those, but that is amazing!! Her voice is so beautiful
She won an Emmy for it also. Cynthia and the ensemble performed on the Today show and when I tell you that performance lives in my head rent free!

I would melt (in a good way) if you did a video in your reading glasses! Love all your passionate takes on the wonderful story of Wicked.
Thank you for watching!
No good deed is so goooooood....also Thank Goodness!!
Your enthusiasm and nerdiness is infectious! Do you happen to have a Ken in your life? Asking for a friend of course
Thank you so much for watching! I do have a lovely Ken 🤗

Thank you so much for watching! I am not a gamer, though it looks fun!
@@theegreatkatsbyYou should play Harry potter legacy
Yay! I love your sweater and energy! You’re glowing. I was wondering who you are for Halloween? I love when you do longer videos like this.

I still think glinda's wedding footage is a fantasy sequence when she does the "i'm not that girl" reprise
It is such a good movie! I wanna see it again! 😊
As far as "unhinged" novel is concerned, I suspect "The Clansman," (which was the basis of the movie BIRTH OF A NATION) is more unhinged.
I searched it up cuz I didn't know what that was and when I say my jaw DROPPED.
I don't understand the unlimited/Over The Rainbow connection
The first seven notes of both songs are the same. The rhythms are different.
