Important takeaway that helped me a lot was making sure any mesh smoothing/adjustment was done before transfer skin weights applied. Had a hell of a time battling with mesh smoothing because i had already transferred skin weights over
After 3.04, features were taken out of CC3 and separated to CC3 Pipeline. You can't conform the imported Sketchfab clothing in this tutorial without CC3 Pipeline. The Conform button is grayed out, and several other functions are either non-existent or won't work without the upgrade.
I just started playing with this today and wow - what an incredible program! I'm so glad I watched this tut as it explains a lot about dressing your character. Was very disappointed about how meager Reallusion was in terms of bundling assets. Guess I'll have to learn to hunt down and import some of my own. This is going to be lots of fun to learn.
Is it possible to do this on a daz imported character ? also why doesnt tool automatically mirror from left leg smoothing to right at 11:11 ? it annoys me to paint left and try to paint same to right bone weights also at 14:30 :C
I wish painting weights is in real time like this video. Seems Character Creator isn't cut out for weight painting, forcing me to export the model to Blender for fixes.
Is it possible to import from OBJ files extracted from The Sims 4? I'd like to import Ciem suits to CC3 without having to reinvent the wheel, so to speak. Though, I'm concerned that the centipede decals on her suit won't look right.
good afternoon, I have a little problem that I hope somebody could help me with. I imported a jacket for one of my characters and fit it nicely but when I imported a shirt for him to wear underneath the jacket it sticks all through the jacket and I can't seem to delete parts of it. both files are obj. also the hide faces option doesn't seem to do anything whatsoever to the T-shirt.
Hello there - I have an odd thing that has happened to CC Import? When I build a character with clothing in Daz - I used to export it 100% the clothing was fine and skinned to the Daz base - But now, when I import a Daz character with clothing on, the clothing only has 2 options? Accessory / Hair - for the skinning? I use to have more options? Like shirt; pants etc?
Of course they wouldve updated and made it so only fbx could be impotered. its like they follow thier own videos, and then systematically keep making it harder for us to actually create stuff in thier creators lol
Tried to import a custom shirt OBJ through create>accessory but the texture/material isn't showing. In fact, under the default 'Render State' the mesh is completely invisible. I can only see a white mesh under 'Smooth' . What am I doing wrong?
My download from Sketchfab does not contain a .OBJ file, even though that is what I selected. Instead it includes a "3D Object" file, which it does not recognize as an OBJ file. What to do?
@reallusion hey I'm having the weirdest issue. I downloaded a model with a top and bottom. hoodie and sweatpants to be exact. i exported them as separate obj's, gave them different names had no issues rigging based on the above instruction. but now i cant add them both at the same time to make the full sweatsuit. it gives me an error saying "target layer already exists." like i said i gave them different names. the skinweights transferred as pants and shirt just fine. any idea whats going on?
the auto weight and weight painting tool in CC3 is absolute dogwater. You have this shirt that just perfectly works around the arm pits? Literally not one single shirt I've imported into CC3 doesn't have some weird jankiness under the arms making it crease awkwardly. And the weight paint tool is so incredibly slow even on low poly meshes. It's such a headache.

Free assets that came with the softwares are only a couple things, their library is too small and everything always costs you extra money. Honestly, I am really disappointed.
Agreed... for the money, you get a very small amount of content. I tried to fit a skirt to my female character... no skirts. But if I want to spend extra $$$, I can get one. Not sure if I am understanding correctly or not, but if I am... what I do is send the avatar from CC2 to iclone, then in the modify panel, send the avatar to Character Creator. If you have CC3, that is where the avatar will be sent. Then in the modify panel of CC3 you will see a button that says "convert to CC3" - click that and it will fix all the ugly elbow and knee joints when the appendages fold. The new topology is so much better. You can then add subdivision or tessellation easily to smooth out the rough edges on the mesh. I hope this helps!
