I'm curious about other plot lines inverted in the evil universe. Like, did evil Phoebe - sorry, that's a tautology - did *evil universe* Phoebe become the Queen of Goodness with her Cole as the Source of All Goodness. Yet when otherworld Cole got sent to the afterlife, evil universe Phoebe actually got off her ass and saved him.
Would evil grandma ghost catch phrase be: "men, you feed them, you pamper them and you fulfill their every desire"?
What would her hippie era become? A murderous rampage???

The best thing about this episode is Barbas being the Demon of Hope and yammering on about hope all the time.
That man had only one setting: Satan. Seeing him as the creepiest 'good guy' ever, was almost worth the price of admission. Which, being a TV show, was free.
He was hilariously hammy. I skimmed the episode and honestly did not notice when it was evil Barbas on screen as he acted with the same cheese.
Billy Drago was fantastic in this show and he made this episode so much fun. I wish we had more episodes with good Barbas.

Weird that the Gideons'' plan wasn't just to swap Wyatts. Nickelback Wyatt in the evil universe and CW template Wyatt in the normal universe. Even if Piper found out, would either one of them actually care all that much?
Swapping wouldn’t have worked because they would still had to have endured either Gideon trying to kill them for a long time.
" So, we can painstakingly craft a comprehensive chain of cause & effect incidents that will explain how our characters could become such different people in this other timeline, or we can give them all Ps2 create-a-character hair and call it a day...."

If there's anything I loved from Charmed Classic, it's their nuanced and inticrate look at the nature, the duality, of good and evil. /s

Or maybe they arrived at that plan originally, and those are the futures the Chrises came back from?
Because the Charmed Ones are evil in all the known universes.
The only reason they exist in multiple realities is to try new hairstyles.

I know, right? Someone wrote a fan fiction called Charmed: The Evil Series, which details the first six episodes of the show in the mirror universe. Instead of the Charmg Reboot (your CHWAV podcast rocks BTW), they should have just redone the original show, in the mirror world! All your Charmed content is awesome and the notification bell makes Phoebe wonder if its time to switch boyfriends yet.
I am so glad you are finally talking about this episode, I haven't seen the video yet, but I am know I will enjoy it. This episode was my favourite as a child, but the concept of world where everyone the reverse in terms of good/evil and also mirrored makes no sense, below are some of the world building issues here:
- Is God evil and does everyone worship him because he is evil
- Are all tv show hero's now villains? and are we still supporting the villains? Is Voldemort now a good guy, do all the witches and wizards in Harry Potter where white, since they wore black in the the universe
- Does everyone only wear black now because they're bad?
- Do evil people wear black
- Are serial killers like Ted Buddy good guys now, and if so how does that work because he killed loads of people, yet if he is good then he doesn't kill any women, but if he doesn't kill any women then how are the worlds mirroring each other?
- Is Donald Trump the good guy in this universe?

i vividly remember watching this episode in sixth grade. it had some really powerful moments (especially re: chris), and charmed was my *life* at the time so it definitely made an impact. but the one thing that really stands the test of time is spikey hair leo. my friends and i were making fun of that shit *when the episode aired.* even back then, evil leo was a meme 😂

Skywriting planes actually have canisters that manually dispense smoke/vapor on command, it's not usually being 'written' by the engine exhaust itself. Nowadays I think they have something they drag behind the plane that basically "prints" patterns behind the plane to do the writing, but I'm high af so don't quote me on that if you want full credit on your paper.

I keep wondering why in these mirror universes everything important seems to only happen when people cross over? DS9 was particularly specific about that. Also, somehow nobody of the main cast feels bad about potentially having killed a version of one of his friends. This is even worse in the dumb CW Flash where Barry's stupidity leads to an alternate Barry dying, because he assumed he also had powers and he was just a regular guy...
Anyhow, if Barbas is the Demon of Hope, would that not make him an Angel instead??? Or since in this universe good is evil, are Angels evil, and so is God too? Yet they still live in heaven? Man this is complicated.

I genuinely love this episode but just to add an explanation for why they wanted the nursery for baby Chris and didn't just put him in with Wyatt - parents typically like to be right beside newborn babies when they're sleeping as they cry far more in the night, or can choke or even stop breathing in the night. They even make special cribs which latch onto the parent's bed to keep them close. Whereas Wyatt is a toddler who is more capable of sleeping in his own room.

Evil Leo is the best. I wish this had a crossover with the silly DS9 mirror universe episodes. Evil Kira would have teamed up with the evil Charmed Ones.
Episodes like this would be so much better if Charmed had any interest in exploring what good and evil mean and what causes people to become evil, outside of cartoon villain territory. Of course, that would necessitate an acknowledgement that most people aren't simply one or the other, but are capable of either, and that many times otherwise decent people do bad things because they think it's the right thing to do in the situation. But the show's view on morality boils down to "our main characters are always good because they're the main characters, which means their enemies are always evil", and rarely tries to explore anything more complex than that.
I also can't help wondering how it affects the mirror universe when evil things occur in our own universe. For example, since everything is the same but opposite, does that mean that slavery still happened in the mirror universe, but General Lee and the South fought against the evil Abe Lincoln who wanted to keep black people enslaved?

was also a missed oportunity to not have the charmed ones good in the mirror universe. but that would be too obvious that the charmed ones in the main universe were becoming evil. i did think it was funny that under the spell when piper was happy was probably one of my favorite moments from later seasons piper. she almost felt like classic piper from the original seasons. it was like season 1 piper being pulled into season 6 even for a few moments.

I'm sad for the people who made it because they are genuinely good folks. I don't think this is a property that will get picked up via streaming, but you never know.

The HP books happen in the early to mid-late 90s (i think 91 - 98) so them not having cellphones and the interne is a bit less of an odd choice than it is for the films

Please do a review of The Wish....Buffy's mirror universe
So I started rewatching season 1 and early on they explain personal gain spells leave the user with the memories of the spells as a consequence of casting it being the result of personal gain. I wish they where more consistent with they're ideas but I think that's why Chris would remember his timeline. But in the way the show did it. The Chris that showed up in the final episode should be new timeline Chris where Wyatt wasn't evil. And somehow he acts like he's bad timeline Chris with his memories.
Gideon is the only character that looked identical to his mirror world version.

From the question of why wizards in Harry Potter act old timey but live in modern society is that even when they live among normal people, they don't actually integrate with them. So their knowledge of the muggle world is limited to before the statute of secrecy.
It's like those immigrants who live in the US, have some level of contact with Americans for work mainly, but they would only have casual contact with people from their home country and because of that they can't speak English properly.

I hate settings that treat good as merciless, dogmatic murderers with zero concept of punishment fitting the crime and rules against cruel and unusual punishment, but I feel it gets done so much that my immediate assumption with any setting that has angels and noble paladins against demons is to immediately assume that the demons are either poor, misunderstood victims of the "good side"'s fanatical bigotry (and probably a stand-in for whatever oppressed minority(ies) de jour is/are), or that the demons are still a bunch of murderous, manipulative assholes who can violate people in mind, body and soul, and still be the objectively less shitty faction.
Honestly, the two episodes weren't that bad.

i never understood why chris was trying to return to the future. his timeline no longer exists so he should fade away or merge with baby Chris. just like Future Piper did in those two episodes in season 5 and the finale. When Piper time traveled to stop Paige and Phoebe from dying twice. Otherwise Future Chris is time traveling to a future where there should be another Future Chris. He shouldn't take his place if he's being born as different character. inconsistent time travel is consistent through the entire show.
then again maybe it does. i know dumain showed billie the future of wyatt attacking chris. which doesn't make sense if the future is changed. so i guess both timelines still exist. like future trunks from dragonball.
