No sir....It was his own decision, A grihi can't provide a sannyashi with a diksha name and secondly he gave the idea of turban...not the name.
In our book of political science of b.a. it is written that a king gave him name vivekanand when the king called him for blessing to his son.

He instructed his Diwan to make arrangements for his upcoming US visit. While seeing him off, Raja asked, Gurudev aap apna naam kya rkhenge. Narendra had discarded his parents' given name. He replied, abhi to kuch socha nahi, kabhi Vivishanand (his name after renunciation ritual) kabhi kuch or rkh liya krta hun. Then raja suggested, Aapko Vivekananda naam kaisa lagta hai.

@@EduSeekers sir I qualified both Net and jrf last June session 2019. I appeared my final year exam but results is not published yet .I have no idea how to draft a synopsis..so can you guide me ???
You can keep in mind following things before you start drafting your proposal:-
1. Choose a subject of Political Science (IR, Indian Politics, Comparative etc)
2. Choose a topic/problem or anything you want to study which you find very interesting ( don't choose any topic without your interest). The most difficult part for some students is too choose their topic.
3. Then study various writings already written on what you are going to research (this step is called literature review)
4. You should define your research question very sharply. So for this always start your question with why or how ( avoid what)
5. There is a proper framework of writing a research proposal depends on where you are going to apply. So find that framework, talk to student who is already doing PhD there, read their first chapter of introduction or ask for their proposal (if they still have)
I can add on many things.. but let me know which subject is more interested to you and what are the topics you have in your mind. Take help of google or youtube to find topics.. discuss it with your professors ( take their help too)

No. Actually Spencer theory was written in 1861. It's not the date of vivekanand 's translation work.
