"You will be nearer to Heaven through football than through the study of the Gita." - Swami Vivekananda. This quotation is a part of Vivekananda's book Lectures from Colombo to Almora. Swamiji is not asking anyone to throw away the Gita and just play football. All he is saying is both are necessary but playing football yields better result than studying the Gita. Now let us look at why he said this. The crux of the Gita is Krishna’s advice to Arjuna to rise above the idea of personal loss or gain. Krishna, the Yogi of the highest order, goes on to explain what Yoga is. Krishna in his discourse highlights the importance of Karma yoga, Bhakti yoga, and Jnana yoga. Karma Yoga (Yoga/Union in action): A Karma Yogi doesn’t act out of his wants. He does what needs to be done in the world at the moment. His actions stems from his all inclusiveness and not from his limited identity of himself, his family, caste, creed, community, etc. Bhakti Yoga (Yoga/Union in devotion): A Bhakti Yogi, while performing action in the world, isn’t perturbed with what the outcome of his action may be. He is conscious of the fact that the result of any action in the world not only depends on his endeavors but also depends on countless other external factors which are not under his control. Because he has complete control over his emotions, he has the ability to pay undivided attention to his action; hence, does his best. Jnana Yoga (Yoga/Union in intelligence): A Jnana Yogi has clarity of perception. He has the ability to see through the dynamic nature of the world. Because of this ability he can face new situations in life and go through those quite effortlessly. Unfortunately, people believe reading the Gita is enough. Vivekananda reminds us that mere accumulation of knowledge, however sacred, isn’t enough to enhance one’s life. Vivekananda points out that a footballer is more in yoga than one who is mugging up the Gita verse by verse. A footballer on the football field is not playing for himself but is carrying out the objectives of the team. Hence, in some sense, he is practicing Karma Yoga. A footballer is paying undivided focus on the ball and is playing according to best of his ability. Hence, in some sense, he is practicing Bhakti Yoga. A footballer is constantly honing his perception to be able to see through the dynamic nature of the game. Hence, in some sense, he is practicing Jnana Yoga. Now, the final piece of the puzzle is the word “heaven” used by Vivekananda. We must understand that Vivekananda, both when in India and when abroad, was speaking amidst people of Abrahamic faith. This is why, even though in Hindu way of life there is no hell or heaven but only liberation and rebirth, Vivekananda used the word “heaven” instead of “liberation”. Anyone who will come across this quote will initially be puzzled. But the insightful meaning behind this quote reaffirms why guru Ramakrishna Paramahansa rightly named Narendranath Datta as Vivekananda: the joy of perception.

वे शैवपंथ से नही वैष्णव पंथ से थे। शिवा को मानने पूजने वालो मे और विष्णू के रूपो को पूजने वालो मे एक अदृश्य रेखा होती है। गीता वैष्णव पंथ की देन है। और योगा शिवपंथ की। शिवपंथ के लोग माथे पर horizontal टीका लगाते है। और वैष्णव पंथ के व्हर्टिकल टीका लगाते है । ज्यादातर प्राचिन मंदिर शिव की यानी शैवपंथ की है। और द्राविडीअन के रुट्स इस पंथ से है ।जब की वैष्णवपंथ के रुट्स आर्य वंशीय संस्कृती से है। और वैसे भी विवेकानंद खूद incarnation जैसी theory पे विश्वास नही रखते थे। आप शायद विवेकानंद को ठीक से समज ही नही पाये । या फिर आपने विडिओ ठीक से देखा नही।

By seeing a maiden in menses, her mother, father and eldest brother these three go to hell. I love Vivekaanda but I dont agree with his view that all religions are true. How can it be possible when different religions give different and often opposing answers to the same question. For example, Hindus believe that after death rebirth happens, Christians believe that after death soul goes to God and resurrection of the body will happen on the last day. Muslims believe that any man who follows all rules of Islam will go to Jannat. As per Christianity, Islam and Judaism, there is no rebirth. Now how can all religions be true, either rebirth happens or it doesn't happen, right? How can one who says it happens and one who says it doesn't happen both be true? The best answer would be that we don't know what happens after death but all of them cannot be true at the same time. Anyone who can clarify how Vivekananda handled this question?

Every day I used read this line At Ahmedabad I got job. The company is fully fraud and you don't believe I got that job from college campusing. Actually I want to do higher study but I stucked into that job. Where I became distracted and I have started believing that I am eligible for this job only. The present section is introduced to lay down the method by which to obtain the kind of son who, by the manner of his birth and conception and by his good qualities, will help to achieve the worlds both for himself and for his father. Only a person who knows the meditation on the vital force and has performed the ceremony of the Mantha leading to prosperity, is entitled to this ceremony of the Mantha leading to the birth of a son. When a man wants to perform this ceremony, he should, after performing the former ceremony, wait for the right time of his wife.... and the commentary at the end of the 6th verse says "...therefore he should approach this handsome woman [his wife] and speak to her, when she has taken a bath after three nights." and the 7th verse says: If she is not willing, he should buy her over; and if she is still unyielding, he should strike her with a stick or with the hand and proceed, uttering the following Mantra, 'I take away your reputation,' etc. She is then actually discredited. ...'I take away your reputation,'etc. As a result of that curse, she comes to be known as barren and unfortunate, and is then actually discredited If she is willing, he should proceed, uttering the following Mantra: 'I transmit reputation into you,' and they both become reputed. Fourth, she has bathed for three nights. Fifth, if after the husband has gone through all these prerequisites and being his wife she is unyielding, he should win her over with gifts. Not yielding, the strikes essentially are a form of renouncing the wife. The purpose of marriage is progeny. If a man has purified himself through all the steps mentioned above to have worthy progeny, and the wife is unwilling to help in the purpose of marriage, she should be renounced.

"You will be nearer to Heaven through football than through the study of the Gita." - Swami Vivekananda. This quotation is a part of Vivekananda's book Lectures from Colombo to Almora.
Swamiji is not asking anyone to throw away the Gita and just play football. All he is saying is both are necessary but playing football yields better result than studying the Gita. Now let us look at why he said this.
The crux of the Gita is Krishna’s advice to Arjuna to rise above the idea of personal loss or gain. Krishna, the Yogi of the highest order, goes on to explain what Yoga is. Krishna in his discourse highlights the importance of Karma yoga, Bhakti yoga, and Jnana yoga.
Karma Yoga (Yoga/Union in action): A Karma Yogi doesn’t act out of his wants. He does what needs to be done in the world at the moment. His actions stems from his all inclusiveness and not from his limited identity of himself, his family, caste, creed, community, etc.
Bhakti Yoga (Yoga/Union in devotion): A Bhakti Yogi, while performing action in the world, isn’t perturbed with what the outcome of his action may be. He is conscious of the fact that the result of any action in the world not only depends on his endeavors but also depends on countless other external factors which are not under his control. Because he has complete control over his emotions, he has the ability to pay undivided attention to his action; hence, does his best.
Jnana Yoga (Yoga/Union in intelligence): A Jnana Yogi has clarity of perception. He has the ability to see through the dynamic nature of the world. Because of this ability he can face new situations in life and go through those quite effortlessly.
Unfortunately, people believe reading the Gita is enough. Vivekananda reminds us that mere accumulation of knowledge, however sacred, isn’t enough to enhance one’s life. Vivekananda points out that a footballer is more in yoga than one who is mugging up the Gita verse by verse.
A footballer on the football field is not playing for himself but is carrying out the objectives of the team. Hence, in some sense, he is practicing Karma Yoga.
A footballer is paying undivided focus on the ball and is playing according to best of his ability. Hence, in some sense, he is practicing Bhakti Yoga.
A footballer is constantly honing his perception to be able to see through the dynamic nature of the game. Hence, in some sense, he is practicing Jnana Yoga.
Now, the final piece of the puzzle is the word “heaven” used by Vivekananda. We must understand that Vivekananda, both when in India and when abroad, was speaking amidst people of Abrahamic faith. This is why, even though in Hindu way of life there is no hell or heaven but only liberation and rebirth, Vivekananda used the word “heaven” instead of “liberation”.
Anyone who will come across this quote will initially be puzzled. But the insightful meaning behind this quote reaffirms why guru Ramakrishna Paramahansa rightly named Narendranath Datta as Vivekananda: the joy of perception.

I love Vivekaanda but I dont agree with his view that all religions are true. How can it be possible when different religions give different and often opposing answers to the same question.
For example, Hindus believe that after death rebirth happens, Christians believe that after death soul goes to God and resurrection of the body will happen on the last day. Muslims believe that any man who follows all rules of Islam will go to Jannat. As per Christianity, Islam and Judaism, there is no rebirth.
Now how can all religions be true, either rebirth happens or it doesn't happen, right?
How can one who says it happens and one who says it doesn't happen both be true?
The best answer would be that we don't know what happens after death but all of them cannot be true at the same time.
Anyone who can clarify how Vivekananda handled this question?

At Ahmedabad I got job. The company is fully fraud and you don't believe I got that job from college campusing. Actually I want to do higher study but I stucked into that job. Where I became distracted and I have started believing that I am eligible for this job only. But every day I used give a glance on a statute of Vivekananda and the line benith that statute. I can say in subconscious mind it helps me, it guides me to the correct path, now I am doing higher study I wants to do.

VI.iv.1 The earth is the essence of all these beings, water the essence of the earth, herbs of water, flowers of herbs, fruits of flowers, man of fruits, and the seed of man.
The present section is introduced to lay down the method by which to obtain the kind of son who, by the manner of his birth and conception and by his good qualities, will help to achieve the worlds both for himself and for his father. Only a person who knows the meditation on the vital force and has performed the ceremony of the Mantha leading to prosperity, is entitled to this ceremony of the Mantha leading to the birth of a son. When a man wants to perform this ceremony, he should, after performing the former ceremony, wait for the right time of his wife....
and the commentary at the end of the 6th verse says "...therefore he should approach this handsome woman [his wife] and speak to her, when she has taken a bath after three nights."
and the 7th verse says:
If she is not willing, he should buy her over; and if she is still unyielding, he should strike her with a stick or with the hand and proceed, uttering the following Mantra, 'I take away your reputation,' etc. She is then actually discredited.

First, it is sruti. Second, it does not condone wife beating. It says any hitting [and the strikes can be ceremonial, not literally] are only done after several prerequisites. First, they are married. Second, the husband knows the meditation on the vital force [not easy or accomplished by many]. Third, he has performed the Mantha ceremony. Fourth, she has bathed for three nights. Fifth, if after the husband has gone through all these prerequisites and being his wife she is unyielding, he should win her over with gifts. Not yielding, the strikes essentially are a form of renouncing the wife. The purpose of marriage is progeny. If a man has purified himself through all the steps mentioned above to have worthy progeny, and the wife is unwilling to help in the purpose of marriage, she should be renounced.
