This was such a well done, powerful movie that captures the essence of what a combat soldier goes through on many levels after returning home, where there is no specific help or even understanding, whatsoever. Yet this film outlines the hope and possibility underlying it all. Deeply moving.

Any specific help is only going to add to the cost of war. American soldiers have the best weapons human ever created and all kinds of support on and off the battlefields. More help after returning home just means less expended in the war. The choice is whether more spend on the war and less after or the other way around, less spend on the war and more after. Which do you prefer? Maybe a deeper question is how much the soldiers should get from the profits of war because some people do make money from wars. After all, there would be no wars if all involved lost money.
It’s not realistic , VA s gets slots of benefits in America , rent help , job assistance, food help , loan help , medical free , discount everywhere, this is an exaggeration, it makes good movie ,
I admire the girls attitude and personality, cute and peaceful. She was so nice and kind to him.
I'm 100% disabled Marine Corps veteran with TBI.. I did what this guy did for years , eat out of dumpsters.. always worked hard and I never beg for money but it was hard.. it took many many years for the VA to settle a claim for me I'm okay now I have a home in the Pacific Northwest thank you Jesus..
No one is as hard on a true soldier as the true soldier himself.

Great Film, Thank you for your service. Seems very sadly that most of us bark at wrong tree, specially to the people they try to help us. The Marines seems very ruined when they come back. I had friends Marines, and they were acting very strange. Blame on the Military and how they are treated. God Bless.

This is a great no-frills, minimalist film! Quite possibly the best of its genre.
I've seen a great many combat related PTSD movies made in many different countries, but none bothered me at all. This one did, however. A lot, unfortunately.
So I feel compelled to warn my fellow veterans. If you are a combat vet who's still struggling with behavioral issues--I don't know--maybe you've been on "one deployment too many," or you're a SF combat vet who went on "one mission too many" (Like me), viewing this film may ruin your day (and night) in a big way.

Very touching, what vets go through. I can't help but wonder why he didn't think of applying to the parks and forest rangers. He loved the outdoors
I don't have PTSD, and went through a lot of what this man did. We serve for Congress and Country, C&C. There is no job placement and or Combat reform, when PTS is up.

Well done! Made me thinking all who suffers from PTSD. Currently I'm very worried about Ukrainian people and volunteers who works there...it's so ducked up that the people who causes these wars don't experience themselves the shit they put others trough.
off subject, there is a place, i saw once, south of Pendleton, Or. towards Pilot Rock. road runs along a river and there are places you can pull over and just watch and listen. couldnt et there via a big rig as its closed to those vehicles, but a car or suv could make it. never got to pull over, but i remember it.
