I used to do this for a living. Zimex Aviation, Twin Otter. ICRC Lokichogio (Kenya) daily into South Sudan to look for war wounded to transport back to Lokichogio ICRC Base Hospital. Very exciting flying when I was young (21) and brave enough to fly into war zones. Thanks for posting, brought back memories.
Hi Daryl, Thanks very much for sharing the story. I'm sure that was some very exciting flying - sounds like you're a braver chap than I am haha! I'm really glad the video brought back some memories. My pleasure and all the best to you! : )
I always like how you think of a realistic scenario to fly the aircraft in. Shows the extra effort you put into your videos. Might have to buy the C160 myself after watching this
Thanks very much, Holding! I like to try and come up with plausible flights / interesting little adventures; it makes the whole process more enjoyable for me and therefore I hope, more enjoyable for some of you as well. I really appreciate the kind words! Cheers and all the best : )
It’s a great aircraft! I don’t fly it enough myself but when you have it loaded down out actually feels heavy which I really like and quite easy to fly also!
I like watching you go through the start-up process but doing it in a timely manner unlike some youtubers out there that spend 30+mins faffing around on something they clearly don't know very well. Feels like you know the aircraft and you've done some basic prep beforehand. Great video.
Thanks very much, Blxz! I try and do my homework ahead of a video; 1) being somewhat familiar with the aircraft’s systems / checklists, definitely helps with the accuracy of the review 2) one of the aspects that I’ve always enjoyed with simming, is getting to learn a new aircraft : ) Each “content creator” has their own style of course; there are others out there that are far better entertainers than I’ll ever be, so I try and redress that balance a little, by working with the skills that I do have haha. I’m really glad you enjoyed the video. Much appreciated and all the best!
As a former Transall flight engineer I'm empressed by the sound of the Tyne22 at idle, they are excellent but for takeoff they are not that good(I already noticed that with the Epsilon too). A detail concerning engine start, we placed condition lever on by checking "HP"on the overhead panel and when engine was stabilized in ground idle, idle lever was moved forward in flight idle. During taxy checklist conditions levers were adjusted to a value(if my memory is good the sector has 50 "clicks") according to outside temp. Regards
Thanks very much for the info, PMZ. Very cool and always great to hear from those “in the know”! I only had the checklists and a couple of videos from AzurPoly to work with, so I’m sure there were one or two errors throughout the flight haha ; ) The engines do indeed sound excellent at idle. It’s a shame that the sounds aren’t quite as good across the board, but hopefully AzurPoly can tweak a few things there. Much appreciated and all the best to you! : )
Indeed, the idle sounds are very good. Gave me goosebumps and for a moment I could almost smell that Transall exhaust. To my ear, the takeoff and cruising sounds seem to be missing that whole body vibration &rattling, and “feral cat” tone :) the Transall I remember had
I love how you take simulation seriously. Wow I always get in the moment and sometimes forget that this is not in real life. Thanks for posting the videos. I love them ❤
Thanks very much William, it’s great to hear that you’re enjoying the content! I derive a lot of my own simming enjoyment from trying to do things (reasonably) accurately, so its great to see / hear that others enjoy the resulting videos. I try to make my content as immersive as I can, so I’m very happy to hear that you get lost in the moment sometimes haha. My absolute pleasure on the videos! Thanks very much for the kind words and all the best to you : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Thank you too. This is definitely the best flight sim channel on UA-cam. Actually, after I found your channel I was hooked. Somehow I stopped watching other channels just like that because your content is on a serious level. I love how I usually get lost in the moment and feel like its a real flight 😄. It's the best feeling ever!! 💯 Watching your flights is also therapeutic. They are relaxing, informative, serious and entertaining. 💯 Hoping to become a Patreon member one day when my finances allow me to do so. I wish you blue skies and tail winds both in the sim as well as in real life. Much love from Nairobi, Kenya 🇰🇪
Well, that’s incredibly kind, William! It sounds a bit cheesy to say haha, but it’s always a real pleasure to receive such feedback and it really does feel like a reward, for all of the effort that I put in. Don’t stress it on the Patreon; if you’re enjoying the content, that’s more than good enough for me : ) Thanks again and take care!
If you're having issues with the click spots, make sure you don't have lens correction turned on in MSFS settings! That's what it was for me when I had issues with click spots being slightly off.
Thanks very much for the tip, Yaskazal! That is an issue I was aware of and I do have lens correction turned off, but a good thought nonetheless. In this particular case, it was a just a question of the click spots being very small (but I gather AzurPoly will be fixing up the issue with the first update). Cheers! Much appreciated and all the best : )
fun fact: the flare pattern is generally called 'angel flares' (the AC-130 has it too) because the flare dispensers are on the sides and bottom of the aircraft; so when they are used it looks like an angel
Finally a serious honest review on a very incomplete, even if promising, product! The plane has a long way to go to live up to the hype being generated by some youtubers out there... As usual this is the right channel to be if you want to be in the know before you buy!
Thanks very much Filipe, I'm really glad you felt the review was accurate / honest (I certainly tried my best to make it so)! The Transall still needs some work, though there is a quality product at its core (as you allude to) and given AzurPoly's previous efforts, I suspect / hope they will continue to put the work in : ) Cheers and all the best!!
Hi Michael, Thanks very much for the pointer. Not really knowing much about tactical approaches, I opted to stick with what’s familiar for the review, but such an approach might be good fun to try out at a later date. I’m glad you enjoyed the video otherwise though! Cheers and all the best : )
Cheers Andy, my pleasure! It will certainly be interesting to see how the Transall pans out, the first update (to be released shortly), seems to address many of the issues that I came across during the video, so that seems promising. Thanks for watching! All the best : )
Thanks for another great tutorial! I've been using MSDS for over 30 years and this aircraft is the best immersive simulation ever, especially in vr. Great sounds in flight. I've been a subscriber for a while and I've decided to join up with Patriot to keep you going. It's a pity there's no documentation, either with the package or anywhere online but I like there's no GPS - it gets you back to basics. No outbound VOR tracking is annoying! Please give an update if you have documentation more details about STOL techniques, power settings etc
My absolutely pleasure, Rob! I’m really glad you’re enjoying the Transall. There is actually a manual available for the aircraft, it can be downloaded from the AzurPoly website (it doesn’t give many details in terms of power settings unfortunately though and I couldn’t find much info online either). Thank you ever so much for becoming a channel member, I’m really glad you’re enjoying the content to such a degree and the support is hugely appreciated! Please feel free to email me at intotheblueinbox@gmail.com, for some details regarding membership “benefits”. Cheers and all the best! : )
I just had a look at the developers website describing the aircraft. "Fully modeled cockpit, high quality sounds" etc. Certainly there is work to be done, but if you like this class of aircraft - have a go. There is work to be done and we all hope the developer is working on it. Good developers drop this plane, GREAT developers continue to make the necessary improvements! !! !!!
Indeed Mark; there's definitely still plenty of work to be done, should AzurPoly wish to flesh out the Transall. There is a solid foundation though and as you quite rightly state, a great developer will see that the work is complete. With that being said, AzurPoly has finished their previous products to a high standard and I see no reason why the same won't be true with the C160 also : ) Cheers!
got this yesterday after the update adding in gps etc im really enjoying it id go as far to say after flying it for 5-6 hours its defo up there in the top 5 on my list for sure hopefully the updates keep coming they also released a texture enchancement pack on there website my first azurpoly purchase and i would say its a solid 8/10 i dropped it a point for engine sounds and still some features to be added but its a very good all rounder. the startup and idle sound fantastic its needing some work on TO/cruise and beta range but with the update its flying really nice and autopilot and navigation is perfect for me i have fired the tds gtn750 up in the pop out for now and it was working fantastic still to give the vor stuff a go etc but for me the gtn750 working on the autopilot mode is fantastic for doing my cargo ops on onair defo the best turboprop in the game right now by a long shot. flying this thing out of santos du mont and around brazil is fantastic fun 😊. good review as always learned a few thing also so thanks.
Thanks very much for the feedback, Hayden, much appreciated! I shall have to check out that texture enhancement pack. I’m really glad that you enjoyed the video and found it useful. It’s great to hear as well, that you’re having fun with the Transall. Happy flying and all the best! : )
Fair review as always!!! I used to see them overflying my junior high school when I was a teenager... My main concerns are linked to the sounds which need to be improved (especially T/O, Cruise and last but not least Reverse sounds!). Now is time for a Taog's Hangar Alouette III review!!! 😁😉
Cheers Stéph, glad you enjoyed the review! Yes, the sounds could definitely still use some work. It’s pretty rare for a dev to make adjustments to the sounds after release, but hopefully AzurPoly will buck the trend (the consensus on the takeoff / cruise sounds, does seem to be pretty unanimous). I hope you enjoyed the Alouette vid also! It was almost “French month” here on the channel haha. All the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations and I of course did!!! I am more a plane than a helicopter enthusiast but I like the Alouette very much... product and review are top notch!!!
very nice and informative video again, sir 🙂 I still like the script beyond your reviews. what I missed a bit here the showcase of the aircraft and features. an external walkaround to get a closer look of the textures, an internal one to see the cargo area, the different type of loads, etc. so basically you could have showed what you were talking about at the end. 😊 but never mind, I still enjoyed it very much, and she is definately on my list!
Thanks Péter! I can definitely appreciate where you’re coming from, but unfortunately it simply comes down to a question of time. I don’t have nearly as much free time as I used to, so I try and dedicate a proportionate amount of time on each review, as compared with the addon’s price / status. Given that the Transall is not hugely expensive, I opted to forego covering a few details, but I tried show off the products features, even if somewhat indirectly (eg, I didn’t go through the tablet, but I did show most of the options available at one point or another; chocks, working doors, visible cargo etc). I did show off the cargo area (and cargo) during the middle of the video : ) Apologies if the review didn’t quite cover everything that you were looking for, but as I say, the work schedule has changed quite a bit in the last 2 years, not to mention the baby haha. Thanks as always!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations no worries, it’s understood. 🙂 there are tons of vids around about this beauty, so I can geather every info that I need. but your opinion and reviews were, are and will be the most relevant for me, that’s for sure. 🤘🏻
Really interesting aircraft... makes me think of a "baby C-130." I've been hoping for a reasonably well modeled Hercules in MSFS since release, (That Captain Sim C-130 doesn't count). Might just pick this C-160 up while I continue to wait for a decent C-130
The C160 is indeed an interesting aircraft, The Justicier and it definitely feels like a baby Herc haha. Unfortunately, I think Captainsim not only gave us 50% of an addon, but have also significantly reduced the possibility of any other dev having a stab at the C130 (cheers CS). I think the C160 is as close as we’ll get in the short / medium term; it’s an enjoyable aircraft and it appears AzurPoly are already hard at work fixing up the aircraft’s issues (with the first update due imminently). If you do end up pricking up the Transall, I do hope you enjoy it! Cheers : )
Great video of a very interesting plane. Not particularly my style but I always learn something from watching these. Hope you had a chance to watch the coronation. Fly safe.
Cheers Squirel! Very happy to hear that you enjoyed the video, even if the aircraft itself wasn’t particularly for you : ) Alas, I was busy during the Coronation, but busy doing nice things at least, so I can’t grumble too much haha. Keep well! : )
My pleasure on the review, Ray, cheers! The Transall has definitely gotten off to a promising start and the first update (due out imminently) looks to correct a lot of the issues that were mentioned during the video. I think we’ll ultimately see AzurPoly / the C160 come good : ) Thanks and all the best!
Thank you for yet another great video. I have to say from what is shown i am really digging those sounds on startup and tbh even flying, and that can only get better as well as the visuals. Tbh i was going to only get 1 twin turboprop, but this one will join the fleet too. I just love this thing. However i will wait on the purchase until more of the systems are there, spesifically the flight managment systems. Or until someone mods a 430 or something in it. If that happens before it is an instant buy even in beta.
Cheers Coenraad! Haha, well I guess the C160 is a bit different from your average twin turboprop, to be fair ; ) I’m pretty sure there will be many improvements to come; AzuryPoly typically seem to release their addons in this sort of state, but ultimately their products have previously been finalised to a high standard. Proper navigational capabilities would certainly be a good start though, yes. All the best : )
Not being able to load a flight plan in a plane like this seems odd, I don't feel it's really ready for sale yet without that. I can excuse the other misdemeanours, but not that one. No doubt they'll fix it. Great work again ITB.
Hi Runman, It was a strange choice, but I suppose in fairness to AzurPoly, the original C160 may not have had any sort of FMS etc either. The first update seems to have corrected the issue anyway, I believe the aircraft now has a GNS530 and improvements to the autopilot. Many thanks once again! All the best : )
Wana buy this aircraft butt still needs time in the oven. Love everything they have done with the plane just needs more work done with the autopilot mostly. Look forward to picking it up though.
Hi Jared, I think that's a fair assessment. The first update for the C160 has now been released, with quite a lengthy changelog (including updates to the aircraft's navigation systems and autopilot). Perhaps worth taking a look at the changes, as the Transall may now tick your boxes (though there is still quite a bit of work to be done, I think it's fair to say). Cheers and all the best! : )
Great showcase thank you ,ive noticed that you had landing lights on but they were pulsing ? can i do this and how ?ive looked every where lol thanks again .
Hello Martin, I’m afraid I’ve “taken you up the garden path” on that one haha. The landing lights of the Transall don’t have a strobe function. The strobing was caused by the recording tool that I use (sometimes it causes conflicts with the light switching positions during the recording vs the replay). Apologies - I hope that clarifies things. I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! Cheers and all the best : )
Thanks for the comprehensive look! I'm definitely going to get that bird, but first I need to get my money's worth out of the Caribou, The Norseman and the An-2. I didn't get around to flying much lately, with Everspace 2, Jedi Survivor and Dead Island 2 being released. 😄
Haha, it’s always the way, Jigsaw - never enough time to enjoy everything! I can’t even keep up with just MSFS XD Happy flying (and everything else in between)! Cheers : )
I always like your instructive videos. HOW....do you look over your shoulders to see that prop? In fact....you look all around the cockpit....I'm not able to do that....
Thanks very much John, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I'm actually using a head-tracking device called "TrackIR" for the camera movements. It's great, although a little pricey. There are cheaper / freeware alternatives available though, should you wish to give it a go for yourself : ) I hope that helps. All the best!
Haha! Well indeed, I rather missed a trick there, John XD It would have been nice to have done something for the coronation, alas, time was against me. I hope you had a chance to do something nice for the big day! All the best : )
Hello Kameron, I’m afraid that’s a really tricky question to answer, without knowing more of the details. As I mentioned during the flight, the Transall can need a lot of trim, depending on the airspeed and current engine power setting. That being said, I don’t recall the aircraft requiring any rudder trim for the takeoff. . . Unfortunately, I couldn’t really tell you exactly what trim setting might work for you. I would suggest simply playing around and seeing what works (or otherwise if you’re really stuck, getting in touch with the dev). I do hope you manage to get something sorted. All the best!
Hi Kola, I’m afraid I can’t help you on that one, not having tried the updated aircraft / new nav system myself - apologies. I do hope you manage to get things figured out. All the best!
Wonderful review just curious I know the fms isn’t full implemented in this aircraft however could one use the gtn 750 of there choice through the drop down bar to program a flight plan question being will doing this will the autopilot follow that flight plan
Hi Ironman, That’s a clever idea and apparently it is doable (as mentioned by someone else - I haven’t tried it myself). The first update to the Transall is due out soon and that should be adding a GNS430 + fleshing out the autopilot a little : ) I hope that helps. All the best!
Really nicely produced video, I enjoyed it a lot. Might be a dumb question but how do you get the cockpit view movements to be so realistic looking? As in the way the camera kind of floats around naturally when you're looking around the cabin.
Thanks very much, Andrew. I’m really glad that you enjoyed the video! I'm actually using a head-tracking device called "TrackIR" for the camera movements. It's great, although a little pricey. There are cheaper / freeware alternatives available though, should you wish to give it a go for yourself : ) I hope that helps. All the best!
I wish you would put a link to whatever you use for the ATC chatter in the background. It sounds great, I would love to know what it is and where it comes from.
Hi SJ, The ATC is real-world recordings, which I’ve then edited into the video. There is actually an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though (from “Stick and Rudder Studios”, if memory serves me correctly), if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : ) I hope that helps. Cheers and all the best!
Great idea, might do it myself. Cracking plane, did miss my c130 from just flight from my pc days.just flights arrows and warrior are now on the Xbox too happily. Your assessment of just flight version against carenado was bang on. Can utilise my navigraph/simbrief too. Much thanks 👍
Cheers CP! The flight makes for a plausible route in the C160 and is enjoyable enough, but sadly it’s not a route that I would recommend all that highly, as the scenery / satellite imagery is pretty lacklustre in this part of the MSFS world. The C160 certainly stands in as a mini C130 though haha. I’m glad you found my Arrow reviews useful! Great to have the Just Flight versions now available on the console ; ) Happy flying and all the best! : )
Hmm... startup sounds are great, model looks pretty nice. Odd that you said it was heavy in roll & not in pitch, given on approach you were fishing for pitch & roll was pretty direct with not much visible inertia ( yes, you can see inertia, it's visible as angular acceleration )... I have their TB-30, not a fan of how it flies at all & was hoping this was an improvement. Doing a Sarajevo approach would have been interesting, that'd give it more of a workout... I think I'll wait & see what they change, if anything. There are certain aircraft pilots seem to fly mostly on the trim ( watch an E-2 Hawkeye cockpit vid in a carrier circuit sometime, it's crazy ), so perhaps this one is one?
Hi RD, The Transall definitely feels heavier in roll, than it does in pitch. The weird roll behaviour during the approach was, at least in part, due to me fishing around for the appropriate aileron trim setting and overcooking things slightly haha. The first update for the aircraft should be out imminently and perusing the changelog, it looks like most of the major issues will be addressed. I know what your mean about the AzurPoly flight models (I haven’t tried the Epsilon, but I have the CM.170), but I think that their products, whilst not “study level”, are otherwise finished to a good standard (the Magister is very feature complete). I think the Transall will ultimately end up in a similar state. Perhaps the trim requirements are true to life; I’ve no idea to be honest, but I figure that at least if I make mention of the behaviour, people can draw their own conclusions : ) As you say, probably best to wait and see how the C160 pans out, but you may well find yourself tweaking the flight model thereafter ; ) Cheers!
Hi, I have bought Azurpoly C160 yesterday from Sim Market but it does'nt work. I can't figure out what the problem is. The on-board tablet does not turn on. The APU switch button cannot be used, the systems cannot be started. It's like a demo version. Please help me out because I like to use this program. Maybe the registration key is missing ? I have not received any. I wonder why is it not working. It was to expensive if it 's a demo version. Please give us technical advise. Many Thanks in advance
Hi Kola, It definitely won’t be a demo version of the aircraft, if you purchased from SimMarket. It does sound as though there has perhaps been an issue with a registration key etc though. Some SimMarket addons are downloaded from the website and some need to be downloaded directly through a SimMarket installer program. From memory, registration keys can be found either in the “My Orders” or “My Downloads” section of your SimMarket account or sometimes, through your associated purchase email. The first thing I would suggest, would be to uninstall and reinstall the addon. After that, I would suggest getting in touch with SimMarket / AzurPoly themselves. I hope that helps a little and I do hope you manage to get things sorted. All the best!
Great reveiw as usual very thorough and every point covered. Love the way yiu do inside and outside veiws of take off and landing etc. What radio chatter are you using by the way are you on vatsim mabe? Sounds brilliant its deffo a step above the standard radio in msfs. Have to ask did yiu or have you ever done airshow commentary? Your voice sounds so familiar from one of the u.k airshow hosts. Brilliant work on all your vids by the way your reveiws are up there at the top of your game. Brilliant.
Thanks very much, Zombiejase, very kind of you to say! The ATC is real-world recordings (from LiveATC.net), which I’ve then edited into the video. There is actually an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : ) I’ve never done any airshow commentary, but that does sound like fun haha. I’m really glad you’re enjoying the content. Much appreciated and all the best to you!
Hi Hubert, Yes, apologies that I missed out the night lighting. For whatever reason, it’s something that I often forget to cover during my reviews (I think it’s because I so rarely fly at nighttime myself, within the sim). I shall try to keep that in mind for future videos ; ) Cheers, all the best!
I picked this up on release and really enjoyed it. I must admit I didn't have any issues with the trim?! Also noticed you didn't touch on the efb? I did also have issues with the vor tracking too. I agree about the missing parts (FMS etc) but it seems to be an ever increasing norm for aircraft to be released and then worked on with patches afterwards - which as long as they do what they promise I don't mind.
Hi Rob, Hmmm, I’m not sure what would account for our different experiences with the trim, but certainly I was finding that significant trim inputs were needed, in order to keep the aircraft flying straight and level. I didn’t touch on the EFB, partly because I was a bit short for time when making the video, but also because I indirectly showed many of the features included (the visible cargo and the ability to open the doors for example). I did also mention some of the EFB’s features at the end of the video. Early access isn’t my preferred option, but I can get onboard with it in this particular case; there are no show stopping issues with the Transall and AzurPoly have proven that they have the stamina to finish up a product (to a high standard) after release. The first update looks promising and seems to address many of the issues raised. Happy to hear that you’re enjoying the C160! Happy flying and all the best : )
My pleasure on the video Saren! Entebbe is one of the MSFS hand-crafted airports and for Juba, I was using a freeware scenery, available from Flightsim.to. Otherwise though, the flight was flown with default scenery. Unfortunately, as you state, the scenery coverage in this part of the word is not great. . . I hope that helps. All the best! : )
There comes the memories… I flew a lot of missions out of Juba into remote villages with EC155 in real life in 2014. Damn what a city …. You definitely don’t wanna be there in reality… nonetheless I never saw a PAPI there in reality ;) And the runway is in way too good condition !
Hi A360, Haha, even the chap that developed the Juba scenery (who sounded like a South Sudanese native, or someone familiar with the area at least), pointed out that the airport was in a pretty poor state. I'm sure it makes for quite a challenging / memorable environment in which to operate! I'm glad the video brought back some memories. Thanks for sharing your story and all the best : )
The external view of the landing shows the lack of inertia that most aircraft in MSFS seem to suffer from, which I particularly notice in fighter jets, and especially in yaw. It can't be beyond Asobo to correct such a basic item!
Hi Colin, Indeed, inertia and control response is definitely still an issue with most aircraft in MSFS. To be honest, I’ve kind of gotten used to it at this point, but jumping back into P3D the other day, my gosh do you notice the difference haha! I hope that Asobo will continue to work on the sim’s flight modelling, but progress could best be described as “slow and steady” to date. . . Cheers, all the best!
Maybe it's a peculiarity of the autopilot, but it seemed to make turns way out of coordination, as if it had no control over the rudder. Just a bug or is it realistic for this plane?
Hello Michael, I'm guessing you made the same observation that I initially did; I think there is a visual modelling bug on the EADI. Rather than the lower section of the bank angle indicator showing turn and slip, it seems to have been visually modelled in a fixed position (making the aircraft look like it is massively out of balance during the turns). Is that what you're referring to? I hope that clarifies things. All the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations You're spot on there, that's exactly what I meant. I thought that may have been the case as the video went on. Thanks for explaining.
To be honest Joe, I don’t recall whether the C160 was explicitly marketed as “early access”. The manual outlines the functionality of the aircraft pretty accurately and I do recall reading through the notes in the Marketplace, that the incomplete nature of the product was mentioned (the state of the aircraft didn’t come as a complete surprise). I’m not a massive fan of early access, but a smaller dev, a more complex aircraft and with AzurPoly having a decent track record of finishing their aircraft to a nice standard - I can get onboard with the Transall overall. Further to the above, it also looks like the first update is going to take care of most issues covered during the video : ) Cheers good sir!
Haha, you flight simmers. . . you’re so picky! : P It is a shame that this practice (releasing unfinished products) seems to have become the norm. I am willing to give AzurPoly somewhat of a free pass though, as they ultimately finished the Fouga Magister to a very high standard (even going so far as to give it working rockets) and the CM.170 released in a similar state - hopefully they don’t prove me wrong! Still, it would have been nice to have had more functionality (at least with regards to the avionics) from the get-go. Cheers sir! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I see it as a really bad habit. Why release something that's broken, or just not there and then fix it soon after? To me it makes no sense. It's not just flight sims either. Tier one gaming companies are doing it too. I'm getting old and grumpy mate.
Haha, I do agree MB, I was just being sarcastic (lowest form of wit, I know) before ; ) Unfinished products are annoying, but I can live with it, so long as they *are* finished (and that never seems to be a given either). Cheers!
I’m fairly sure some aircraft do now have tire smoke, CB. The Transall didn’t seem to, but sometimes in fairness, my recording tool can cause issues with such animations. . . All the best! : )
Hi Scotty, The Transall is one of one of the many addons I would like to revisit - there’s just never enough time though haha. Has AzurePoly done any work on the engine sounds? I will certainly keep the aircraft in mind, should I ever find myself at a bit of a loose end in the future : ) Cheers, all the best!
MSFS does not represent africa well hehe ... Ive been to Juba as a pilot. Overpopulated airspace with UN mi 8. LOTS of c208. Also the first time i have ever seen multiple MI - 26 helicopter ( IT IS GIGANTIC ). Nearly no space to park with UN aircraft all over, some private contractors. Some wrecked planes left and right of runway. TOWER controllers ( more like a guy on a handeld saying wheeeere R U Now ) are completely overwhelmed. TCAS TCAS TCAS. Buildings are mostly used as toilets. LOTS OF RPK,AK47 RPG to see. but alas its only a sim! Cool Flight that is very true to life route in a much needed location
Haha. That sounds about in line with what I was expecting, Monster (although I didn’t appreciate that the airspace gets *that* busy). Sadly, MSFS doesn’t look great in this part of the world and tends to feel a bit sterile also. It’s shame, given that Africa should be a rather “vibrant” and challenging area in which to fly. I can forgive the sim not modelling the Mi8’s and the AK’s, but it would be nice to get some better satellite imagery and a few more “hand crafted” airports. I imagine we’ll see a World Update for Africa at some point. . . Thanks for sharing your adventures. I’m glad you enjoyed the flight! Much appreciated and all the best : )
Hi Henryk, I’ve no doubt mistakes were made along the way haha. As I mentioned during the video, all I had to go off was the checklist and the product manual (which whilst decent overall, gave very little detail on how to actually fly the Transall). By and large, the procedures I used in the video, were either directly from the included checklist, or from the video tutorials created by AzurPoly. Either way, I don’t think the aforementioned errors had too much bearing on the veracity of the review ; ) Cheers, all the best.
@@IntotheBlueSimulations hi, thanks for the comment. My comment should be seen as an advise. . Not as a bad criticism. I was a hydraulic mechanic for eight years. And I flew a lot with the c-160 as a technician. Therefore I kept many procedures in my mind. You did a good job. And, the plane was flying . Only that counts.
Fair enough Henryk! I didn’t take your post too much to heart, I was just explaining how I had arrived at the procedures I was using. I did indeed manage to keep the aircraft flying, so I guess that is a good start, yes haha. Thanks for the info, it’s always good to hear from those with real-world experience on a particular aircraft! All the best : )
on the aileron drop... any side wind makes it way worse. but yes no way that is normal. the sounds are atrocious. engines are a single sound with no modifier. cant tell what is going on. and its a french plane so all gauges are funky and unintuitive making it all worse. i like the plane but i dont like using it. if that makes sense
Indeed, Luke; it's a real shame that the C130 was such a half-baked effort. Annoyingly, not only is the CaptainSim effort sub-par, but it will probably dissuade other devs from having a stab at the Herc. I think the C160 is the next best thing for now. Cheers, all the best! : )
My pleasure, Renegade! I’m glad the video proved helpful in you making your purchasing decision. The C160 definitely shows a lot of promise, but there is indeed still quite a lot of work to be done on the aircraft. Cheers, all the best : )
Thank you for the great video! I have an "Aero" issue when i run the engines, looks like 3D thermal. i couldn't find the solution in the settings so far, if you (or anyone) can help, i will be appreciated. Here is the very short video; ua-cam.com/video/UFanzrXxP6s/v-deo.html
Hello Ayhan, My pleasure on the video, I’m glad you enjoyed it! What you’re looking at there, is the sim’s built-in CFD visualisations. You’ll need to activate the Developer Mode (which can accessed from the Settings menu) and then turn off the appropriate option from the menu bar at the top of the screen (I’m not sure exactly which one that will be). I believe there is also a keybind available to achieve this, but again I’m not familiar with the exact key combination. I hope that helps? All the best! : )
I’m not quite sure what you mean by that, Sky Wings? The pilots can certainly be seen in the external shots, or were you referring to visible pilots within the virtual cockpit? : ) Cheers, all the best!
I dont understand why every fs video has to be 1/3 stupid aircraft start up jibber jabber. 14:20 for those who dont want see the same mumbo over and over in every video. something to consider
Hello John, I can’t speak for others but, I can certainly elaborate on why I personally choose to run through the full startup process: 1) I think it’s the best way of demonstrating the level of systems depth (or lack thereof) associated with an addon, 2) I know quite a few of my viewers like to use my videos as somewhat of a tutorial and 3) It’s something that I enjoy doing. I’m sure, my somewhat elongated videos won’t be to everyone’s tastes but, I think it’s better to have all of the content included and people can then choose which parts they want to watch, as opposed to cutting everything down and then having some viewers feel like they don’t get what they want out of the video. I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best
The nice uncles from Greater Germany come and bring gifts from Germany to the natives. So and now stir yourself. You can laugh. Everyday white do-gooder colonialism.
I think you’re reading far too much into the flight, Andreas. This video isn’t supposed to be a political statement, merely the recreation of a plausible C160 operation (these sorts of flights do take place in the real world after all). I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best
Some propeller planes needs a little bit of retouch in the propeller effect according to the RPM speed. Even when are not bad still gave you that taste the is not 100% accurate.
Hi Alexey, Fair enough. I tried to come up with a “plausible” scenario, even if it isn’t a true-to-life one. I’d be surprised if Juba is limiting in terms of elevation? Entebbe, perhaps, but I only chose Entebbe because it’s one the very few “hand crafted” African airports within the sim. Cheers, all the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Can well understand choice of start and finish points as they work well for your fine demonstration. You are right about the Tyne sounds on start up - I'm very familiar with the C-160. Just as a note for historic accuracy, HB-ILN was only leased by Balair from the German government for the Biafra Airlift in 1968, being returned in 1970, however not before it was damaged on the ground at Uli when it took 20 hits from a Nigerian Mig-17. Thus way before FMS was introduced, but obviously the package comes with much more recent liveries so fair enough. Great to see a subject like this so well modelled. Almost enough to pull me back into FS!
Hi Daryl,
Thanks very much for sharing the story.
Well, both a little bit of imagination and a little bit of effort, I would say ; )
Thank you very much once again David, hugely appreciated! I’m really glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching : )
I try and do my homework ahead of a video; 1) being somewhat familiar with the aircraft’s systems / checklists, definitely helps with the accuracy of the review 2) one of the aspects that I’ve always enjoyed with simming, is getting to learn a new aircraft : )
Each “content creator” has their own style of course; there are others out there that are far better entertainers than I’ll ever be, so I try and redress that balance a little, by working with the skills that I do have haha.
I only had the checklists and a couple of videos from AzurPoly to work with, so I’m sure there were one or two errors throughout the flight haha ; )
The engines do indeed sound excellent at idle.
I do confirm.

Watching your flights is also therapeutic. They are relaxing, informative, serious and entertaining. 💯
Hoping to become a Patreon member one day when my finances allow me to do so.
Don’t stress it on the Patreon; if you’re enjoying the content, that’s more than good enough for me : )
Thanks again and take care!
Thanks again too and take care
Really appreciate that you include the airport ids in your description. Cheers.
I've been waiting for this. Thank you, sir!
My pleasure, NTF, I hope it was worth the wait! Thanks very much for watching and all the best : )
The Transall still needs some work, though there is a quality product at its core (as you allude to) and given AzurPoly's previous efforts, I suspect / hope they will continue to put the work in : )
Cheers and all the best!!
An amazing video once again! Always fun to watch and learn something! Thank you
Thanks very much Calvino, very happy to hear that you enjoyed the video! My pleasure once again. All the best : )
Danke!
Many thanks, Cartman - much appreciated! My absolute pleasure and all the best to you : )
Oh man flights I used to do almost every day quite some years ago! Entebbe what a great place to stay! Juba then Malakal
Haha, nice - I’m sure that was quite the adventure, Rice! I’m glad the video brought back some good memories. Thanks for sharing and all the best : )
36:28h mostley the Trall makes the Sarajevo Approach, that means you go down with the nose . You have made anyway a very nice Video, thank you.
Hi Michael,
Thanks very much for the pointer. Not really knowing much about tactical approaches, I opted to stick with what’s familiar for the review, but such an approach might be good fun to try out at a later date. I’m glad you enjoyed the video otherwise though!
Cheers and all the best : )
Thanks for the erstwhile review. One to see how it pans out in time for me. Will watch with interest. Cheers.
Cheers Andy, my pleasure! It will certainly be interesting to see how the Transall pans out, the first update (to be released shortly), seems to address many of the issues that I came across during the video, so that seems promising.
Thanks for watching! All the best : )
I bought it yesterday and find it to be a joy flying.
That's great, Reaper, I'm glad you're enjoying the Transall!
Happy flying and all the best : )
With that being said, AzurPoly has finished their previous products to a high standard and I see no reason why the same won't be true with the C160 also : )
Cheers!
amazing as always great job man
Thanks very much, WingFlex, I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! Much appreciated and all the best : )
got this yesterday after the update adding in gps etc im really enjoying it id go as far to say after flying it for 5-6 hours its defo up there in the top 5 on my list for sure hopefully the updates keep coming they also released a texture enchancement pack on there website my first azurpoly purchase and i would say its a solid 8/10 i dropped it a point for engine sounds and still some features to be added but its a very good all rounder.
the startup and idle sound fantastic its needing some work on TO/cruise and beta range but with the update its flying really nice and autopilot and navigation is perfect for me i have fired the tds gtn750 up in the pop out for now and it was working fantastic still to give the vor stuff a go etc but for me the gtn750 working on the autopilot mode is fantastic for doing my cargo ops on onair defo the best turboprop in the game right now by a long shot.
flying this thing out of santos du mont and around brazil is fantastic fun 😊.
good review as always learned a few thing also so thanks.
I did show off the cargo area (and cargo) during the middle of the video : )
Apologies if the review didn’t quite cover everything that you were looking for, but as I say, the work schedule has changed quite a bit in the last 2 years, not to mention the baby haha.
Very happy to hear that you enjoyed the video, even if the aircraft itself wasn’t particularly for you : )
Alas, I was busy during the Coronation, but busy doing nice things at least, so I can’t grumble too much haha.
Keep well! : )
Thanks for the review. Looks very good graphically.. I will wait for the developer to update the Systems before considering this as a buy
My pleasure on the review, Ray, cheers!
The Transall has definitely gotten off to a promising start and the first update (due out imminently) looks to correct a lot of the issues that were mentioned during the video. I think we’ll ultimately see AzurPoly / the C160 come good : )
Thanks and all the best!
Really like how big the trim wheel is. Must be easy to reach and use.
Haha, some nice old-school design / engineering! These days, it would probably be a toggle switch : P
Haha, well I guess the C160 is a bit different from your average twin turboprop, to be fair ; )
I’m pretty sure there will be many improvements to come; AzuryPoly typically seem to release their addons in this sort of state, but ultimately their products have previously been finalised to a high standard. Proper navigational capabilities would certainly be a good start though, yes.
All the best : )
Im loving the Transall so far 😊
Very happy to hear that you’re enjoying the aircraft, Thijs! Happy flying and all the best : )
Not being able to load a flight plan in a plane like this seems odd, I don't feel it's really ready for sale yet without that. I can excuse the other misdemeanours, but not that one. No doubt they'll fix it. Great work again ITB.
Hi Runman,
It was a strange choice, but I suppose in fairness to AzurPoly, the original C160 may not have had any sort of FMS etc either.
Hi Jared,
I think that's a fair assessment.
Hello Martin,
I’m afraid I’ve “taken you up the garden path” on that one haha.
@IntotheBlueSimulations lol oh, thank you ,keep up the good work.
Thanks very much, Martin! I will try my best : )
Graphics and stuff looks very substandard
Thanks for the comprehensive look! I'm definitely going to get that bird, but first I need to get my money's worth out of the Caribou, The Norseman and the An-2. I didn't get around to flying much lately, with Everspace 2, Jedi Survivor and Dead Island 2 being released. 😄
Haha, it’s always the way, Jigsaw - never enough time to enjoy everything! I can’t even keep up with just MSFS XD
Happy flying (and everything else in between)! Cheers : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I've purchased the C-160 in the meantime and did a few flights. It's really good and about to get better.

I'm actually using a head-tracking device called "TrackIR" for the camera movements. It's great, although a little pricey. There are cheaper / freeware alternatives available though, should you wish to give it a go for yourself : )
I hope that helps. All the best!
Now there's me expecting you'd do a coronation barrel roll fly past over Buck Palace with this one. (IFR)

It would have been nice to have done something for the coronation, alas, time was against me. I hope you had a chance to do something nice for the big day! All the best : )
Im having trouble with the trim. How much trim? Its crab walking through the side with 0 wind
Hello Kameron,
I’m afraid that’s a really tricky question to answer, without knowing more of the details.
Hello
Please help me
How should you use the TECAM navigation system?
Hi Kola,
I’m afraid I can’t help you on that one, not having tried the updated aircraft / new nav system myself - apologies.
I do hope you manage to get things figured out. All the best!
Wonderful review just curious I know the fms isn’t full implemented in this aircraft however could one use the gtn 750 of there choice through the drop down bar to program a flight plan question being will doing this will the autopilot follow that flight plan
Hi Ironman,
That’s a clever idea and apparently it is doable (as mentioned by someone else - I haven’t tried it myself). The first update to the Transall is due out soon and that should be adding a GNS430 + fleshing out the autopilot a little : )
I hope that helps. All the best!

Great to have the Just Flight versions now available on the console ; )
Happy flying and all the best! : )
so the beta range is the braking range? prop blades turn against the wind?
Essentially, Neumannen, yes. That’s my understanding at any rate (I’ve never actually flow anything with beta range before).
Cheers, all the best! : )
Hmm... startup sounds are great, model looks pretty nice.
Hi RD,
The Transall definitely feels heavier in roll, than it does in pitch.
Perhaps the trim requirements are true to life; I’ve no idea to be honest, but I figure that at least if I make mention of the behaviour, people can draw their own conclusions : )
As you say, probably best to wait and see how the C160 pans out, but you may well find yourself tweaking the flight model thereafter ; )
Cheers!
Hi,
I have bought Azurpoly C160 yesterday from Sim Market but it does'nt work.
Hi Kola,
It definitely won’t be a demo version of the aircraft, if you purchased from SimMarket.
@@IntotheBlueSimulations

It will be very nice, if you show the evening flight too.. maybe at the end of videos, so we can see the light situation :) Thx
Hi Hubert,
Yes, apologies that I missed out the night lighting. For whatever reason, it’s something that I often forget to cover during my reviews (I think it’s because I so rarely fly at nighttime myself, within the sim). I shall try to keep that in mind for future videos ; )
Cheers, all the best!
Hi Rob,
Hmmm, I’m not sure what would account for our different experiences with the trim, but certainly I was finding that significant trim inputs were needed, in order to keep the aircraft flying straight and level.
Thanks for this
Did you have any scenery installed on the way ? Airports etc as the scenery is very poor on these areas
Hi A360,
Haha, even the chap that developed the Juba scenery (who sounded like a South Sudanese native, or someone familiar with the area at least), pointed out that the airport was in a pretty poor state.
Hi Colin,
Indeed, inertia and control response is definitely still an issue with most aircraft in MSFS.
Hello Michael,
I'm guessing you made the same observation that I initially did; I think there is a visual modelling bug on the EADI.
You’re most welcome, Michael! Cheers : )
Was this advertised as early access or something with how many things you say are called out as not functional in the manual, but will be added later?
To be honest Joe, I don’t recall whether the C160 was explicitly marketed as “early access”. The manual outlines the functionality of the aircraft pretty accurately and I do recall reading through the notes in the Marketplace, that the incomplete nature of the product was mentioned (the state of the aircraft didn’t come as a complete surprise). I’m not a massive fan of early access, but a smaller dev, a more complex aircraft and with AzurPoly having a decent track record of finishing their aircraft to a nice standard - I can get onboard with the Transall overall. Further to the above, it also looks like the first update is going to take care of most issues covered during the video : )
Cheers good sir!
Nice aircraft
I wonder if the use of the Red Cross logo on the livery itself constitutes a violation of the Geneva Convention itself ......
Hi Jun,
It may be considered a violation of the virtual Geneva Convention perhaps hehe ; )
All the best!
Ahh the fresh prince of Balair.
Haha! That one took me a second to figure out, Alexander XD
Balair 😎 didn’t know they have a Transall
Indeed Christoph; apparently at one point, Balair did operate the Transall : )
All the best!
Can someone please release a finished product.
Haha, you flight simmers. . . you’re so picky! : P
It is a shame that this practice (releasing unfinished products) seems to have become the norm.
Haha, I do agree MB, I was just being sarcastic (lowest form of wit, I know) before ; )
Unfinished products are annoying, but I can live with it, so long as they *are* finished (and that never seems to be a given either).
Cheers!
Huh. Still no tire smoke in the sim.
I’m fairly sure some aircraft do now have tire smoke, CB. The Transall didn’t seem to, but sometimes in fairness, my recording tool can cause issues with such animations. . .
All the best! : )
AzurPoly has just done a big update on it, I would love to see what you think ITBS 👌
Hi Scotty,
The Transall is one of one of the many addons I would like to revisit - there’s just never enough time though haha. Has AzurePoly done any work on the engine sounds? I will certainly keep the aircraft in mind, should I ever find myself at a bit of a loose end in the future : )
Cheers, all the best!
Anyway remenber? Movie: ''AIR AMERICAN? HAHAHAHA!
once again another Spot on Video Thank You. I have a feeeling Your a real pilot. I won't be buying this product.
Cheers again Mike! I’m glad the video proved useful in helping you make your purchasing decision ; )
Thanks, much appreciated!
Oh yes - that’s what I recall perfectly! I was there 2014
C’est un des seuls avions militaire que tous les citoyens français reconnaissent tellement il est populaire ici
Joyeux jour de la Bastille, Francois! It’s great to see AzurPoly continuing to do French aviation justice. All the best! : )
You're doing a lot wrong.
Wrong engine start procedure (rh first) and the apu has to be run until the Aircraft is airborne(safety reasons).
Hi Henryk,
I’ve no doubt mistakes were made along the way haha. As I mentioned during the video, all I had to go off was the checklist and the product manual (which whilst decent overall, gave very little detail on how to actually fly the Transall). By and large, the procedures I used in the video, were either directly from the included checklist, or from the video tutorials created by AzurPoly. Either way, I don’t think the aforementioned errors had too much bearing on the veracity of the review ; )
Cheers, all the best.
Wish the C-130 was created this way. The current model in the store is ()&%$#* external only.
Thanks, this convinced me not to buy the aircraft, its still too basic. Maybe in the future.
Here is the very short video;
ua-cam.com/video/UFanzrXxP6s/v-deo.html
Hello Ayhan,
My pleasure on the video, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
OOOPS we don't see the Pilots
I’m not quite sure what you mean by that, Sky Wings? The pilots can certainly be seen in the external shots, or were you referring to visible pilots within the virtual cockpit? : )
Cheers, all the best!
Thieves go to give little back from what they steal?
I'm sorry, I've watched a whole bunch of your videos and "elevator authority" still seems like the most boring law enforcement agency in the world.
Haha! The elevator authorities, second only to traffic wardens : P
HIHIHA
I dont understand why every fs video has to be 1/3 stupid aircraft start up jibber jabber. 14:20 for those who dont want see the same mumbo over and over in every video. something to consider
Hello John,
I can’t speak for others but, I can certainly elaborate on why I personally choose to run through the full startup process: 1) I think it’s the best way of demonstrating the level of systems depth (or lack thereof) associated with an addon, 2) I know quite a few of my viewers like to use my videos as somewhat of a tutorial and 3) It’s something that I enjoy doing.
All the best
first
Your amazing
Turn that stupid background radio off.
Propaganda
Never seen C160 in
HSSJ as HUEN field...Elevation is too high for this twin.
Hi Alexey,
Fair enough.
Thanks for the info, Richard. Very interesting!
Much appreciated and all the best : )
