Sam Riegel isn't retired. He's done more writing and directing as late as NeiyonSpyder said. He's very active on Critical Roll, the D&D webshow. He only voiced Donnie on the 2003 show, it's animated movie. But he did voice him in a ton of video games.

I personally think that this game is very good and I hope they add the web of shadows mechanic where you can switch between suits and you can switch characters between miles and Peter
I think we’ll definitely be able to switch between miles and Peter in the new game coming out. They could do it 1 of 2 ways imo. They could have switch back and forth at different points of the story or they could possibly just have us pick a character at the very beginning and depending on who you choose the story will play our slightly differently. I also think it’s possible we’ll get to play as venom. I could see them doing a dlc all about venom where you can roam the open world as him
this game was always one of my top 5 spiderman games, specifically because of the whole wrestling combat and finishers, with a lot of different acrobatic moves (which i love), and how the combat gets more agressive and fast the more you build up your combo counter, and also the base suit for the game is the same from the amazing spiderman movie (with a web cartridge belt around the waist), and i always loved that suit personally. I like the marvel's spiderman (originally for ps4) better overall, but the one thing i always thought it was missing was this more acrobatic/versatile combat moveset, the combat in marvel's spiderman is pretty basic/simple in terms of actual fighting moves, they added the finishers to add more versatility to it, but i still like the combat in the amazing spiderman game a lot better, although when it comes to actual web combat, the marvel's spiderman is better considering it has multiple types of web shooters.
I liked this game growing up, but even then I noticed it's problem, there's bugs, stuff phasing, the face movements, the story is a 5.5/10 at minimum, and let's not forget the lack of emotion, it's still enjoyable, but it does have it's problems
From what I can tell, I think the "hate" comes mostly from disappointment people have in these movie-tie-in games. The developers, Beenox, were also notably the developers who did fan-favorite Shattered Dimensions, and to top that, it was the first of their console Spidey excursions. After that game's success though, Activision did the very Activision thing and saw dollar signs, and put Beenox to work making nothing BUT Spidey games. They ended up almost yearly at some point, and Beenox likely wasn't able to provide, especially with how much you could see they wanted to change things up when they could, like with the movie games. Add in having the expectations of the previous Spider-Man movie games, at least Spider-Man 1 and 2, and people are probably REALLY unfavorable towards it. The fact that it has to be a tie-in to a movie which was already pretty polarizing because of the circumstances around it probably does it no favors, either. In hindsight, not having Andrew Garfield's face or likeliness in this game and ASM2, regardless of voice-actor Sam Reigel's solid chops, feels like a downgrade when you consider that for the questionable performances they gave for the games, the Raimi trilogy got its Spider-Man AND his villains all to reprise their roles for the movie tie-in games. I feel bad, I remember when Shattered Dimensions came out, people were calling Beenox to Spider-Man what Rocksteady was to Batman. But they got dealt a rough hand, and as a result most of their Spidey catalogue following Shattered Dimensions get looked at harshly.
Tbh i have these game (tasm1 and tasm2) on xbox 360 and I have kept it in my wardrobe safe going to play again when I’m done with my exams in March, these games are nostalgic af
I loved this game. Especially that Boss in the middle of the city against that snake robot. WHAT?!! And this was the first of the SM games to start using the Arkham fighting mechanism

I remember playing the rise of the silver surfer movie tie in game and it was a pretty generic beat em up but I had fun with it cus it was ultimate alliance style where you could switch to any of the 4 characters at any time during combat
I actually agree because this game was good & actually giving an idea of what's a structure for a Spiderman game in terms of modern open world & tbh i played the 2nd game first then i played this game thar is 1st game & not kidding i enjoyed this game more than 1st game that it is simplistic rather than complicated in terms of initial stage. If possible challenge maps something like the Arkham games . Where miles , Peter , and black cat the tinkerer and prowler can be playable and possibly yuri and maybe even some of the villains perhaps ??? I just hate how we were robbed of playing black cat or even team takedowns as well. And would wish that could be expanded on
Tinkerer is Dead and Prowler is in Prison. But I agree we should have more playable character that are actually cool to play as. But the reaskn Arkham was able to apply it so easily was because all the characters work the same. Spider-Man is too Versatile to just make use his mechanics for other characters

Hell we can even add sable to that mix we do have attack animations for all the characters I just listed it’s not impossible but it will definitely take a bit of effort . I just feel like having more playable characters even if it’s just challenges. Would be so sick especially when like Spider-Man characters aren’t always playable. Like a stealth segment with yuri where ya take back a police station or playing yuri and doing boss rush. Idk I feel there’s a lot of ideas that can be put into that.

The 2002 game had Green Goblin and even though his melee combat was the same as Spidey, his ranged combat, special attacks and traversal were totally different, USM having Venom was a highlight of that game and Spider-Man 3 had Scorpion playable in one level and New Goblin(both who feel different from Spider-Man)
I actually don’t mind the first amazing Spider-Man 1 game I do like the story a lot more than the second game mechanics, I like it besides the swinging if they had amazing Spider-Man 2 swinging from the start in the first game it would been a bit better but overall I’ll honestly give the first game a solid 7/10
Your not alone the first game has better shading and a cinematic type look as well as the combat being slightly faster with signature moves being really smoothly animated

With your idea of venom being playable this is how I personally think they are gonna do it. So I think they’re gonna do a dlc where you play as venom and get to explore the open world as him and have a little after story side plot with him as the main character. That’s how I think he’ll be playable
For Spider-Man 2 I want to see Insomniac implement those characters in the spinoff comics and prequel novels. Cause I can't even lie they are WAAAAY mote interesting than most of the characters we see in the last games: 1. Velocity(Peter's first protege. She has Super Speed) 2. Blood Spider(framed Peter for murder and thought he could be a better Spider-Man than Peter. Peter through him in Ravencroft and he worked for Kingpin and was also an Oscorp experiment to replicate Spider-Man) 3. Vultures Grand daughter(who is like Miles' equivalent to Black Cat) 4. Swarm 5. Tarantula You should check out the prequel novels and spinoffs comics SMPS4 and Miles. They are REALLY good

I honestly don't understand the hate for the TASM games cause they're literally one of the best spiderman games in my opinion. I've binged them so many times. If these didn't exist we wouldn't have marvels spiderman and Miles. That goes for every other past spidey game.
Mass dislike towards The Amazing Spider-Man movies and games probably has a lot to do with Marvel/Disney having meetings to figure out how to get Sony to stop making Spider-Man content so Spidey could be in the MCU, reviewers who clearly got given a "donation" as the result of these meetings and the fact that a lot of people dislike stuff (pineapple on pizza and knicklback being other examples) because the internet tells them to.
I already finished the game, it was cool tho. I love the fighting mechanics and Stealth mechanics... It was good. But, open world gameplay is just a mess for me on Tasm2
Never played this game and while it seems alright to me, the one major gripe I would have is with the camera. It seems to work terribly while inside buildings which is surprising since it's so damn close to Spider-Man he takes up most of the screen all the time. It's just very disorienting to have a very limited FOV. Especially in a game that has you move around as much as Spider-Man does and you need to be able to see enemies around you. Also, so far, all the villian designs look like crap imo, they just so ugly. Glad they decided to put Paul Giamatti in a mech suit for Rhino rather than getting whatever this look is. Scorpion hasn't faired much better.
I liked this game, camera was awful tho. I thought TASM2 was going to be equal or better and boy was I wrong. I got exhausted of hearing “carnage killer”. And the hero or menace meter it was ughhhhh.
I would like to see in Marvels Spider-Man 2 the more you take damage the more is your suit damaged this is in tasm1 and i would like to see it in Marvels Spider-Man 2

Tbh i love the tasm games i played the first one on the 360 and the second one on the xbox one i got a copy for the ps3 that im getting soon so I'll be playing soon i think i finished the game for the first one and finished the second one like 6 times
My reason to hate this game wasn't that it was terrible, it's because they didn't try hard for better because it was a game for new spider man movie and it was going to sell a lot no matter what. Not a bad game but that's all it is, not bad. Btw watching you play is more fun than actually playing
I actually preferred Amazing Spider-Man 2 ( I wasn't a big fan of fighting the giant mechs in 1) , but I agree that both Amazing games were underrated. The combat isn't bad. There are good story line elements in both( though 2 becomes convoluted , especially at the end where goblin and Electro kind of come out of nowhere after perfectly good Kraven and Cletus Cassidy segments). The web swinging would actually be really good if the camera orientation were fixed. Being able to visit Aunt May and Stan are nice touches( especially as it doesn't cut out after the endgame) . The hero meter in 2 is an interesting concept, but was poorly implemented, ruining free roam appeal . All in all, not bad games. Flawed, but fun.
The swinging and hero meter in 2 are really the only “bad” things about it, everything else is just meh or decent. Main reason it gets so much hate is because it’s TASM2 related, TASM1 the game is generally considered an okay game by the community, but considering it was from the same guys that made shattered dimensions, I can see the disappointment

If there's something I'd change about this and the second amazing Spidey game is the voice for Spider-Man. I'm not a fan of his voice actor in this game. He doesn't even sound like Andrew Garfield (ya know? The movie series this games based on?) I don't hate Sam Reigle's version of Spidey's voice

Most of people talk bad about this game because the webswing, but after 30 minutes of gameplay you get used to

I loved this game tbh and even rebought it for my ps vita when that was still popular
I liked this game, camera was awful tho. I thought TASM2 was going to be equal or better and boy was I wrong. I got exhausted of hearing “carnage killer”. And the hero or menace meter it was ughhhhh.

Tbh i love the tasm games i played the first one on the 360 and the second one on the xbox one i got a copy for the ps3 that im getting soon so I'll be playing soon i think i finished the game for the first one and finished the second one like 6 times
My reason to hate this game wasn't that it was terrible, it's because they didn't try hard for better because it was a game for new spider man movie and it was going to sell a lot no matter what. Not a bad game but that's all it is, not bad. Btw watching you play is more fun than actually playing

I actually preferred Amazing Spider-Man 2 ( I wasn't a big fan of fighting the giant mechs in 1) , but I agree that both Amazing games were underrated.
The combat isn't bad. There are good story line elements in both( though 2 becomes convoluted , especially at the end where goblin and Electro kind of come out of nowhere after perfectly good Kraven and Cletus Cassidy segments). The web swinging would actually be really good if the camera orientation were fixed. Being able to visit Aunt May and Stan are nice touches( especially as it doesn't cut out after the endgame) . The hero meter in 2 is an interesting concept, but was poorly implemented, ruining free roam appeal .
All in all, not bad games. Flawed, but fun.
The swinging and hero meter in 2 are really the only “bad” things about it, everything else is just meh or decent. Main reason it gets so much hate is because it’s TASM2 related, TASM1 the game is generally considered an okay game by the community, but considering it was from the same guys that made shattered dimensions, I can see the disappointment
@@buffkangaroodog The swinging was pretty good. Other than the camera. It was off and sometimes irritating. The movement was pretty good though and a lot of people actually liked the " right trigger for right hand web, left trigger for left hand web" thing.

If there's something I'd change about this and the second amazing Spidey game is the voice for Spider-Man. I'm not a fan of his voice actor in this game. He doesn't even sound like Andrew Garfield (ya know? The movie series this games based on?) I don't hate Sam Reigle's version of Spidey's voice

*tasm 2 is the game that everyone hates tasm 1 is a hidden gem and a fucking masterpiece it's everything that tasm 2 movie should've been. so yeah inaccurate ass title "I Installed The Spider-Man Game Everyone Hated" and this game dlc's is fucking god like from playable villains to retro mini games. this game has it all and a cool ass story the one thing that held this game down is criminal activities isn't active after beating the game. it stops feeling life like within the open world i think this game would've benefited more if all of the cross spices was all over new York even after beating the game and the spider hunters was still tearing up the city it would've gave more things to do but outside from that this game is fucking awesome so i don't know where tf u getting this shit from "I Installed The Spider-Man Game Everyone Hated" this game is the most unique experimental game in a movie tie in game years even more experimental than treyarch (the studio that literally created web swing that sticks to the environments in spider-man 2 movie game52 2004) although beenox lack that feature which i honestly don't give a shit about about bcuz Spider-Man games was like that since ps1 but the story in tasm 1 is better than all of spider-man games Fight me !
the theme is so nostalgic this game help m e get through hard times in my life when i had this game on vita. this game was so innovative that features from this game is getting copied in the insomniac's spider-man games, that still can't compete with Beenox and treyarch these developers set that bar that it can never be touch. marvel's spider-man 2 is just a knockoff web of shadows they're still copying features from beenox and treyarch's spider-man games
