Remember, as soon as your partner is pregnant, you’re not just going to be a dad. You ARE a dad. Let that guide our mentality as we prepare for our babies to be born.
Currently 8 months pregnant and I can give you some great tips.. 1. Massage her lower back, hips, and feet (helping her relax might even lead to intimacy ;) ) 2. Keep her fed/favorite foods and drinks in the house 3. Educate yourself on pregnancy and all things baby and communicate with your partner. Pregnancy can feel kind of lonely for us women for many reasons. If you understand what she is going through and prepare yourself for labor, delivery, and caring for a baby, it can help set realistic expectations and bring you and her closer. Some men don’t prepare and think pregnancy and baby will be all sunshine and rainbows and it is definitely not all the time. 4. Try to avoid her when she is irritable. Whether it’s summertime and the heat is getting to her, she’s hungry, or it’s just the hormones. Try to stay calm and don’t fight with her. Hopefully she is self aware to also let things go and avoid arguments. Sometimes we need some space or food! 5. Some women have an increased sex drive during pregnancy and others have a decreased drive. Some women only have discomfort and/or pain with sex or a complete lack of interest. Talk to each other, it’s not you and I can tell you it’s not fun so try to be compassionate, it’s only temporary. 6. The first trimester is the hardest and usually after 14 weeks (start of the second trimester) she will start to feel more like herself again. The third trimester is a whole other story. 7. It wouldn’t hurt to have a therapist, counselor, or some neutral party for you to talk to. Men have strong feelings too and are often overlooked or silenced over the pregnant woman. Pregnancy is a lot and you should have a safe space to say what’s on your mind and get some guidance in how to deal with these new changes in your relationship.
Thank you for this video. My wife and I are expecting our first child. Today I got to see the first ultrasound and it really hit me. I want to be the best dad that I can be. Our baby is due in February 2023. The thing in most excited about is being the dad that I never got to have.

I find your content for dad's with daughters so helpful because for whatever reason I always felt like my first child would be a boy and it's definitely been a change of mindset for me!
Hey, first time mom here and loving the straightforwardness of your channel. I'm watching your videos every day! What really struck me is to focus on the mental portion of parenthood, not the physical one. I've been so scared about prepping the house and being totally clueless with how to change a diaper, etc, but I should focus the rest of my pregnancy on learning how to better communicate with my partner now and establish better mental habits now to make things a little more natural later. Other hands on stuff, I'll be able to learn quickly by doing :)
