Hey Sheila, I don’t know if you will see this comment but I wanted to leave it anyways. Thank you for everything that you explained in the video. Last Thursday 12/9 was my finalist interview and I received word that night that I am going to UW Madison as a Posse Scholar. Throughout the entire process, I used your video to help gain perspective on what I should expect as a finalist in New York. It really helped get through DAP 2 and 3, and just be able to know what I was getting myself into. I hope everything is going amazing for you and your Posse and I hope that you see this so that you understand the impact that something like this can make on people. Again, thank you!

You probably won't see this but girl thank you so much. You are so good at making videos. You explained it really well and your tips helped me move to round 2. Wish me luck!
@@jojoartiles It was pretty great! There were over 100 students from all over New York City there! We first had to talk among each other and the Posse people there played music and were cool. We were in breakout rooms and had to answer questions and do a group activity. In the end, we wrote an essay( we only had 20 minutes!) but it wasn't hard since we were able to choose 3-4 prompts to write about it. Overall I it was an interesting and insightful experience. I, unfortunately, didn't make it to round 2 but I'm wishing you the best of luck!
@@jojoartiles No problem! Just remember to engage in all conversations as much as you can. They are looking for students to aren't afraid to speak up and don't worry your ideas won't be ridiculed. This is interesting, I'm on my final interview for Veterans Posse, I didn't realize how different the regular posse was from the veterans side but still very useful information. This will be my first group interview ever
Hey, following up to see how everything with your interview and if you were granted. I've got interview coming up and was wondering what it was like for Vets. Let me know Thank you
@misterhelpyou6599 I did get it granted. My process was a bit weird going through it, I missed some of the interviews because they didn't have a deadline posted for each year. So I had a solo interview and the in person interview in NYC, but the other guys in my cohort only ended up doing group interviews from what I've heard from them. My first interview was with just a Posse recruiter over zoom in October, while the second was in person at their Wall Street office with both Posse employees and various administrators from the school interviewing all the candidates for that school. That was in December. The kinds of questions she talks about happened, but I never had to do any writing assignments during my interviews. The turn around was really quick for me, one of the admissions officers from my school called me a day or two after the interview and told me that I had gotten in. I know they put much less emphasis on academics for the vets, I don't remember ever getting any real questions about my education, but I didn't take a lot of college courses while I was in so it might be different if you did take a lot of credits while you were in. If you have more specific questions about the process it'll probably jog my memory. One thing to keep in mind is that Posse is not /really/ a scholarship, it's more or less a recruiting program where the school agrees to cover your tutition (not fees or room&board). So any more detailed financial questions aren't going to get answered by the Posse folks, you have to wait until you can talk to the finaid people at your school. It's really nice having the other vets around but I'll be very honest, the weekly mentor sessions are really tedious, just as a warning lol
I Have an interview coming up next week. I spoke to a recruiter or whoever it was and mentioned that I have a family and that moving to another state was sort of an issue for me, but he assured me that there was other members who's had the same issues and that they paid for a home for them to live and so on. Do you know of anything in that nature where they'll pay for housing?
this made me feel so much better & it was so so helpful . THANK YOU!!! btw. you're so pretty , love the energy you give off and although it's late congrats on winning
This was so helpful, I was nominated as a finalist for my top choice school and although I am not continuing with POSSE as a finalist, your insight truly was spot on with how amazing the whole experience was and all the tips were very helpful.
hi! thank you for the video! I was wondering if we have to apply to and get into the school, or does getting the scholarship mean I automatically get into the university? For example, if I wanted to do the program for Colby College, would I have to apply to the university and get in, too? And what happens if I don't get into any of the universities for my city?
Hi! I can help! So after you become a Finalist for Posse you’re recquired to apply to your Finalist school with a Posse trainer. Posse and the school work together on your last interview. The school reps will be there and help decide if you got the scholarship. If you get the scholarship, you are guaranteed admitted into their school. Hope that helped!

Hi, This video was really helpful, but I have a question. If you get the posse scholarship, do you have to accept it on the spot, or can you wait until May 1st to compare the financial aid with other schools?
Yes u do. U apply to the school that u r a finalist for early decision so if u end up getting the scholarship u must go to that school no matter how many other schools u applied to
@@hayleysands5220 they send u an email like a month after your second round interview either saying that u made it to the 3rd round or u didn’t but if u did make it to the 3rd round then in that email they will tell u what school u r a finalist for
@@kelsriveraa Yeah the scholarship itself isn't solely based off GPA or academics since it's a leadership based scholarship. I think if you show that if you're able to keep up with academic rigor throughout your 4 years, it shouldn't be a problem whether or not you meet the gpa requirement.
I'm not sure for highschool. But for posse Atlanta they just said 50 people in total will get the scholarship. 10 for each of the schools(5 colleges for atl). And it's 50 people out of the entire metro Atlanta. So some high schools could get multiple people and some could only have one
