Hi Remco. Thanks for the review. I also got my “orca’s” and used them for Windfoiling in cold condition. Outside tempature 6 degree. For the first time in my life a lot of grip, warm hands and no pain in my underarms. Was on the water for 1,5 hour and stoppend due to “cold feet”. 😂😂 Ps. Thanks for the Great service from Oceanic. They send me a wrong shipment. I Made a remark and they correct it immediately. My compliment to Oceanic.
Hi Geert, you're welcome. Great to hear!!!! I have a feeling Oceania has found the right way forward to a solution for this ancient problem of cold hands in the winter and besides that it looks like they have the right attitude towards their customers as well. Now that your hands are warm it's time for new (thicker and warmer) boots! 😄 See you on the water!!
Hi, what a brave decision to go out on such a cold day. I am from estonia, and we have some tricks for cold hands. Usually after 15 min (winter session) we come back to shore and we pour some warm water on the cold hands and that "regenerates" the blood vessels. The right time to do that is when you start to feel the cold plus 5 minutes. The other trick is, if you don't have warm water in thermos, you just start throwing your hands down, like trying to push the blood back to fingers using gravity and centrifugal forces. It takes about 3-5 min of that to get the blood going. After that your hands will stay warm the whole session, cause the blood vessels will work and they will not shrink. If you do the above mentioned things too late, then you will scream like little baby, because it will hurt like hell (done that), but the reward is that you can go out on the water again :D
Hi Peeter, Thanks for sharing you cold hands tricks and tips!!! I haven't tried the warm water for the hands yet, I think I'm gonna give it a try. I think these cold hands are the main problem for most that keeps them inside in the winter instead of on the water. So thanks again and.. See you on the water!!
Independently of the great news (problem to 90% or more solved with cold hands in winter) => this is the kind of topic and testing the community needs. Thank you! Just subscribed...
Hi @oceaniasport, It's great to see a company that really listens to the needs of the windies out there and is trying to think out of the box to come up with the best solutions possible. Besides that I read in the comments below that you treat your customers as valued customers. "We're only at the beginning" sounds fantastic to me as what you guys sent me for the test already is the best I've tried up till now. If you can find a way to keep these gloves this flexible and gripy while adding some extra warmth we can go out even more often and stay out longer in the winter!!! Keep up the fantastic work and.... See you on the water!!!
Tried the oceania gloves for Windfoiling. But I still got cramps after 15 minutes. But the hands stayed warm. Water and air temperature around 4-5 degree. Thanks for the review, but gloves with open palms still are the only ones that work for me.
Hi @foilfly5372, Sad to hear they don't work for you. It just goes to show that everyone is different and you just have to choose what works best for you. For me the ORCA's offer more than enough grip without tiring those fore arms too much even windsurfing. Yesterday I tried different gloves from Oceania as I find their overall concept very interesting. This time I took out the Leopard Sharks which have no lining and make them even more flexible. They have a slimmer fit so it almost feels like bare hand sailing. Yesterday I tried them wingfoiling WITH under gloves. The grip is even better and are even less tiring on the forearms even with the under gloves than the ORCA's. If fore arms are still a problem with the ORCA's you might want to give those a try and you can use them even without the under gloves if max flex is what you are looking for. See you on the water!!!
Hi wavedave, I hope the work as good for you as they do for me. In the high wind sessions I can feel my fore arms a little, but it's way better for me than the neopreen ones. It takes a bit more time to put them on, but once on it made quite a difference for me. Have fun and... See you on the water!!
Hi @AP-sq3gb, you are welcome! Oceania sport advised me to just choose the same size I used for the neopreen gloves as well. For me that was a size 9/M and that worked perfectly for me. Have fun this winter and... See you on the water!!
Hi @@AP_alias, I hope they turn out just as good for you as for me. For me the only down sides are that your hands tend to slip out of the gloves a little every little now and when it gets really cold (below 5 deg) your hands still do get cold. From all the comments I got up till now only 1 person still had fore arms that tired with the ORCA's. For me the grip of the ORCA's is way better than with the neoprene gloves and I can even windsurf in rough conditions for hours. I only feel it in my fore arms just a little no more than that. Oceania sport is new to the wind(surfing) market. They really listen to the needs of us windies and are learning fast so expect even better models in the future. I just tried the Leopard Sharks as well from them which have a slimmer fit so they don't (or hardly) slip anymore, but you will have to wear under gloves with the Loepards as they have no lining inside. I think you are gonna love the ORCA's for those cold sessions! Finally dry and warm hand combined with good grip while not wearing out those fore arms. Let us know when you had a chance to try them. See you on the water!!!
Bought a pair off the back of this video. Great product concept but let down by poor execution and awful customer services. Terrible quality with glue holding gloves together had failed prior to even putting them on. Terrible customer service - Oceania tried to blame me. Avoid at all costs. . Raised a PayPal dispute.
HI Mike, thans for sharing! Hmmm that's quite a bummer to say the least.... I hope this is a one time incident and you can reach a solution with them that gets you on the water with a pair of working gloves as the concept really worked for me. I also learned that Oceania is just entering the wind sports market and is still working on perfecting what they have right now, but I absolutely agree that the gloves should be able to handle normal use at least for a winter season as that is how long the neoprene gloves last for me as well. Keep us up-to-date on the outcome and See you on the water!
@@Windsurfcoach Faulty products happen - its a fact of life. The true test with any company is how such matters are dealt with. In this case Oceania customer service is abysmal. Will update once PayPal dispute is resolved. To me the product failing is obvious - the band joining the silicone cuff to the glove is not wide enough - it needs to be at least 30mm. They also need to get better performance adhesive to achieve a fit for purpose chemical bond. As it stands, the gloves are simply not fit for purpose and should be withdrawn from sale.
Hi@@mikepringuer2099, Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope the issue can be resolved in a good manner. I've been using the Oceania gloves since that first test and haven't had any glueing issues so far. I want to test the durability of the product for next year so I try to use them as often as possible. But I must add that Oceania sport has send me quite a few different proto types to test since that first video so there are only 2 pair of gloves that I've used quite a few times so far. Please keep us updated and ... See you on the water!!!
