    You are more respectful and responsible than some other eBikers on UA-cam that I've seen. Maybe it's their younger age group that causes many of them to be more reckless and also while traveling in the larger cities in CA and NYC. Either way, you did fine. The video that preceded this one where the female didn't like you being on the bike/walk trail who said, "I think this trail is for non-motorized vehicles" was rude and ignorant. A shame the settings didn't allow comments for that video. You were definitely correct in that you are also allowed to be on the trail as she was.

    Since a large portion of your audience are seasoned citizens, you might think of doing interviews with health "experts" about the physical benefits of ebike riding; also with folks who have lost weight riding an ebike. There should be a large pool of folks to draw from. Have fun, Les!

    Good test on KBO. Also,
    @RV Enthusiast got 35 on throttle only, so legit miles. Smooth tires with less weight overall has big impact on range. Battery x 2 = 60+ miles range. Would you still ride Rover to Botanic if KBO was available? I know its gone to relative by now, but curious about 26 x 4 on distance trips vs 2.4 smoothies. 🚲🍦

    Russ. For your viewers, who think that you aren’t always paying attention to your surroundings, braking for the woman walking and veering to the left demonstrates that you put safety at a high priority. Unlike the woman in yesterday’s video, IMO, who had no regard for other people’s safety because of her riding style. Enjoyed riding along today. This eBike appears to be quite nimble and well built. Based on your riding style, it’s battery range is also impressive. It should make your wife a good eBike to ride along with you. Y’all have a good weekend….Dan

      From all the Russ videos I've seen I cannot understand how or why anyone would think that Ross rides in an irresponsible manner. I think it appears faster due to the camera angle. He rides very properly and responsibly.

    Hi Russ. I always enjoy your videos. I wanted to ride today but it is cool, overcast and just rained. Think I will see if it gets warmer. I like that your bike paths have a line down the middle for folks going opposite directions. I can see the display of the KBO pretty well. It seems like a nice bike.

    Russ could you talk about when you’re on gravel instead of the smooth concrete or asphalt and the difficulties with that anything special you need tires were out quicker some general information because that’s all we got here in Missouri‘s is the crush and run for their paths

      Unfortunately, I don't ride on gravel paths or the like. I always ride on the streets or paved paths, so I'm not qualified to talk about that aspect of riding. But you are right... it would wear on tires like crazy and the potential for flats go up a lot. Sorry!

    • @francoislepine4698

      Not really a concern....I ride a couple of Rad bikes....one has 26x2.3 tires with a checkerboard type thread. They do just fine on fine gravel paths...and pavement as well. I have 4300 kms on them now and I'm thinking of switching them front to back. Or maybe just buy 2 new ties. They work well on pretty much everything except gravel roads where they get a little too squirrely.
      The second bike has 20x4 fat tires with little knobs on them....obviously they are good in the straight dirt, on any paths AND gravel roads....on pavement they create more drag and top speed is 5+ km/h less than the first bike. They shine on tidal flats at low tide where a narrow tired bike would be an ABSOLUTE CHORE to impossible to ride.

  • @Bmeri3

    If you had to do it over, would you buy this bike over the Rad Rover? I really like the fact that the smoother tires are quieter than your Rad bike. There is a Father’s Day sale for $200 off 2 bikes. Do you have any additional coupons or affiliate links for this bike? Thanks!

    Hey Russ, good morning from Idaho. Another good review. I love your very practical reviews and honest range tests. They really give the average rider a very honest look at the bike. Nice job. I went to grab the bell you recommended and they’re gone! But I did grab another one because as you said the magic cycle bell is not loud enough.

    What kind of cargo bag or tools do you have on kbo. Nice looking bike. I was thinking if someone had the way to substitute car for e bike this would be Great, If you could take charger with your good to get back. I hope to see alot more e bikers and infrastructure to support it as a viable means of transportation.

      I had no bag on the KBO and did not buy one either. Since my wife wanted this bike and she only rides with me, I figured all tools will likely be on my bike anyway. So, I took the chance and did both KBO test rides without any tools with me. Luckily, I did not need them during these test rides! :)

    My wife and I finally got to test our range on our Lectric 2.0 bikes I'm 5'10" 205 Lbs and got 15 mi with a full chrg. I was hoping for more. But now I know. We went up and down hills with pedal asist on as needed. I'm going to need more range.

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  2 роки тому

      That is typical of the battery in the Lectric because it has a 9.6 ah battery in there. But it's not that unusual as other bikes that have a similar design also have lower range so that the battery can fit inside the downtube of those designs.

    Get you Americans sniffing at a measly 500W; here in the UK we are limited to 250W, 15MPH, and without a throttle trigger, by law. Yet I find 250W sufficient for my needs.

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  2 роки тому

      Yeah, I guess we are spoiled with the 750 watt motors! We shouldn't complain while you only get 250 Watts! Good point.

      In Australia it's 250W too. My bike has a throttle though. I'm quite happy with 250W. Similar riding terrain to what Russ does. No real steep hills though. I can choose pedal assist (three levels) or throttle. By turning pedal assist off, the throttle then becomes available. My preferred way of riding now is using the throttle with pedaling. It gives me more control. I'm not going to get a push from the pedal assist in a situation I don't want it.

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  2 роки тому

      @@trevorwoods3367 I tend to ride with throttle and pedal assist at the same time as well. I do that more than any other way of riding! :)

    Do you have room for a mirror with that bell located there?

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  2 роки тому

      Yes. I tried mounting the Rad mirror on the KBO bike and it worked just fine with that bell there. That bell is ultra slim so it only pushed the mirror to the right side by less than 1 inch, so it was acceptable. The bell needs to be closest to the handle grip so that you can reach over easy with the thumb. But reports have come in that the company selling these bells at that low price are out of stock now! I should have bought a couple of more! I hope they restock them. The alternative that looks exactly like this bell is really a lot more expensive at $16.99 each! These were 3 for $7.99!

    One day you should go for a long walk on that trail. I bet after that you would slow down way below the 16-17 mph you currently pass/meet pedestrians at.
    They are "multi-use" trails. Pedestrians move at 3 mph. Slowing down to 10mph wouldn't kill ya.
    JMO...on the multi-use trails I use your speed when there are pedestrians around would be considered kind of inconsiderate to reckless. I guess if everybody rides like that where you live that's just the way it is...I guess.

    • @RussIsRight

      Many ride faster than I do on these paths. But point is taken.

      @@RussIsRight yeah, I believe it....I had occasion to ride on paved trails in a large city that had turned into "bike freeways" especially at rush hour....when traffic got so bad more people turned to bikes and they just FLEW along those trails...as just a "sunday driver" I had to keep a sharp eye out and even got yelled at a few times!!!
      All that is why I prefer gravel trails...speeds are generally slower and pedestrians hear you coming. If I was "King" ;)...all trails would be well built/drained gravel trails. The cost of grading them once a year would not be very much....especially when you factor in the cost saving of not paving them in the first place. End result: lower speeds and better co-existence between user groups. The only loser group I can think of would be in-line skaters!

      @@retnav92 LOL...do you think they lay pavement right over grass???....you have to bring in lots of gravel anyways before you pave anything.....and what do you think asphalt is made from???? some gravel and lots and LOTS of oil....that happens to be very. very expensive right now.
